Yea definitely. I would also compare ??? To Mob’s “inner child”. We all have this in some sort of capacity but Mob’s inner child stopped growing after the accident where he hurt Ritsu. Because ??? got hidden away and repressed for so long-just like a frustrated child-it explodes with emotion. Mob’s ability to regulate his emotions is quite stunted, so this is also why this happens. He hates and degrades his “inner child” to the point that he doesn’t even know it himself. And, unlike the rest of us, he has a legitimate fear of ??? Because of his powers so that complicates the whole issue. I just love how ??? Brings so much depth and realism to Mob that sparks some lovely dialogue.
Side note: I’m pretty sure every hint that ??? Was otherworldly in some way (like a whole different entity) was just jebaiting us. And I love that. We get that whole opening sequence of some entity fighting, which has no obvious connection with the following scenes of Mob’s everyday life. I think that, by tricking the audience, ONE lets us experience the ending just like Mob does. Even he’s shocked that ??? Is actually part of himself and so are we. It makes this revelation all the more shocking and let’s us in on Mob’s mind.

Mob is shiegeo. He's the part of shiegeo that gamer rages in warzone. That loses it when his phone charger won't work. That cries when they have to stay late for work. Mob is the part of shiegeo that he hates. That we all hate. But shiegeo could not be 100% until he accepted Mob.

I disagree with the fact that Mob is different from Shigeo Kageyama, or that he's a "mask" over Shigeo with ???% being the real self. The ending of Part 3 is all about how you have to accept all sides of yourself, no part of Shigeo is a "Fake", it's incomplete. ???% and Mob both are Shigeo.

The way I understood it was that ??? was basically just mob's powers in a conscious form. It's pretty obvious based on the explanation given about why mob liked his crush. ???? said that it was because she accepted both of them aka normal mob and mob's powers and didn't treat them differently like other people. We also know that mob has constantly been trying to repress his powers instead of accepting them even though his powers are literally a part of who he is. Those powers therefore gained consciousness and it manifested in the form of ??? which is what I was able to take away from the final episodes.

I’m pretty sure ??? is supposed to be Mob’s Id or his Shadow Self. Since part of shadow work is accepting that scary pry of yourself, fits pretty well.
