    This is the exactly the type of technological advance that makes Namm so interesting! So many new open doors!

      I've been waiting to see how this goes since I watched it first at namm, mpe has probably made this my choice over the roli, desperately need something like this for uvi falcon.

      I wish I could take the time to go to namm. I was never there. If I could, I would go to every one.

    It's getting better! Last year I was quite skeptical about this concept, but now it looks really amazing. Considering all the applications this looks like a good deal for the price even if I have to swap layouts time after time when they wear off.

    Yeah I was seriously debating getting the blocks, but this looks absolutely freaking rad! Love the qwerty keyboard, and would LOVE one with a numpad to get the most out of pro tools. Lots of room to grow with newer pads. What an incredible product!

    would need a little work to create an interface to the software but you could use it to control 3-way colour grading, a replacement for the track balls normally used.

    The API got me particularly excited! Custom surfaces are also an awesome idea. I'm sold.

    Very interesting product.
    My only concern regards the durability of the overlays and maybe the battery which, I suppose, is not replaceble by the users so, what happen when it will be exhausted? Have we to send the device to some laboratory in order to have it replaced?

    This looks great! I'm looking for a midi controller to go along with Ableton Push 2 and this might be it.
    Is there any noticeable latency and what is the latency from the time of tab/pressure to it's arrival in say, Ableton Live?

  • @_flower__

    Could this be a substitute for a graphic tablet if you just didn’t use an overlay?

    Very good idea, I like how flexible this unit is. I mean anybody with a computer should have this with the typing keyboard and then add in whatever else you would need. I want to make a long piano

  • @AlexSage
    @AlexSage 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Are u kidding me... we have an lcd screen to change visual layout of the instrument... why go back in time to hard mediums!?!? What if you lose a layout overlay? Or how long will that layout overlay last until the material degrades... all these functions can be performed on a contemporary touch lcd's...

  • @perrypelican9476

    I wonder if there will ever be a way to build your own controllers. I can imagine having a box full of knobs and sliders etc that I could put onto an overlay in any pattern I want. That would be amazing. I use midi designer on my iPad. If sensuel was flexible like that, I would use it for sure

    • @zoundsic

      Could always make your own templates to lay on top as it does knobs and sliders, could save your programming for each bit of kit, imagine be easier than having to disesemble and build everytime you want to use on other gear, Could work out lot cheaper unless using all at once, Hardware approach would be good on your prized never going to sell stuff too though.

    $235 [EDIT: I meant $335] for base unit plus keyboard overlay... About the same price as a Roli block keyboard, which will *not* allow you to change it to an MPC, video, drumpad or other controller for 35 bucks. Way to go Sensel -- spectacular product for a spectacular price (considering what you get).

    The Sensel Morph and the Joué are very similar to each other! I wonder who got inspired by who, or did the companies come up with the idea separately? ;)
    Cool devices none the less, and competition is healthy. The Morph seems a little bit more versatile of the two.

      But will that 3D print also have a usable smooth surface like the existing overlays?
      I think there should be a midi controller only surface without the drum pads.

    This should give Roli a run for their money. Less expensive and more versatile. I would say that the Seaboard has more personal feedback with the bumpy keyboard. I just cannot see paying $800.00+ for a full size key controller so this may be an option. Bocks is more of this price range but with mini keys and a watered down version of their software I just could not justify keeping it in my studio. A little competition never hurts.

    • @perrypelican9476
      @perrypelican9476 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don’t think these are a threat to the roli instruments for various reasons. The biggest one is that the seaboard is just a keyboard, but a totally amazing one. These overlays don’t have the same playability of a keyboard. It is more versatile but not nearly as good as a pure keyboard. People use seaboard as a piano or organ replacement. I think that most of those players are not interested in multiple surfaces. They want a keyboard that they can master for live play. I could be wrong, of course, but I don’t see that roli is worried at all.

    • @KryzMasta
      @KryzMasta 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Perry Pelican I totally agree with you. I think this appeals to a different audience. If it's music, it's more the practical editing / producing side, maybe on the move, with a bit more power and flexibility in terms of 5D expression than, say, a standard iPad. Aside from that, it also functions as a very cool input controller for completely different applications outside of the music industry - gaming, editing, image / video production, or controlling the most crazy applications that we might not even have thought of. That's a realm ROLI is not interested in, while their application within the musical domain is quite a bit more powerful than this device - especially if you compare this to the Seaboard Rise 49 or the Seaboard Grand.

    At that price and technology level it would be be more sensible and flexible to just purchase another cheap iPad and use it with something like MIDI DESIGNER and create your own custom interfaces

    • @sejtaridiss
      @sejtaridiss 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Cp Mon Well, simple touchscreens won't allow you really play it, as an instrument, since it doesn't have velocity sensitivity.
      This product is the f*****g future. Price is crazy low.
