I have to say that 2nd series thought somewhat simple, it's a tricky one, unique, and executed exceptionally well. Whip into Double Twist into Full-twisting Shushunova. Who would imagine putting a Full-twising Shushunova at the end of tumbling pass? Brillant.
Tony Vuong exactly so unique, fun to watch, and it's not even a super tumble like you see today. Fact: only Sveta could pull this off. That's what makes it amazing.
I agree. I like creativity, but nowadays it is not rewarded. It's only about points. It's even worse for men's floor. They don't even do skills that are not worth points. Many won't even do a flic-flac because they just do flipping and twisting combinations that give them points. I miss the 80's and 90's. The routines were more interesting, artistic and creative.
Definitely the best floor routine of her entire gymnastics career. Her opening triple twist was perfection, not to mention the ethereal quality of her dance here. This is what is missing from today's female gymnasts. It seems like you seldom see anybody really dance anymore. They're just out there tumbling and moving robotically to music.
She is one of my favorite gymnasts to watch! Even though she's not in it like this anymore, I enjoy rewatching videos! Just her elegance in how she performs, not only on the floor exercise, but all the other apparatuses, like her amazing uneven bar routines!
@krell88 IMO the best dancers during this era were: Ivonne Tousek from Canada, Fei Meng from China, Khorkina, Ungureanu from Romania was not in the same league but was good also, Lilly Podkopayeva, Ludivine Furnon and Elvire Teza from France and MIller was not bad.
My point is not that the tie was not conceivable or legit under the code, but that the code itself was severely flawed if it could allow what Gogean did to tie with what Khorkina did. Yes, Gogean's tumbling was better, I will give her that, but that was about the only redeeming guality of that routine compared to this. Very good tumbling and uninspired posing vs good tumbling, dance, grace, performance value, musicality....
What kills me is that, while on paper, both routines started from 10.000, this one actually had artistic content. Gogean had absolutely awful choreography. Wasn't this after the lack-of-artistry deduction was introduced, and if so, how did Gina miss it. Ugh.
Ma Milla bitch shut up. There isn’t a mold how one should look like. But if want to talk about how a gymnast should look like. Scientifically a gymnast should look like Simone, Fragapane, Shawn Johnson. Small and compact. To get power and height for each element
Ummm sadly, not that many! Lilia Pod defo comes to mind BUT even she was actually more balletic than real dance.....Dina Kotchekova actually wasnt bad either! as was Tatiana Lysenko but that wasnt quite this time period I know - I just dont go for Khorkina's flailing arms and hands routine.....where does she actually dance?? in her routines.......
Well, dance is body in movement in the same rhythm as music. It really doesn't care if it is all your body or part of it. Khorkina does it very well in entire of serie. Lilia doesn't even in her gold olympic medal performance.
I can understand why she dominated this period on the Asymetric Bars BUT for me (personally) when it came to floor SK = no real evidential dance just lots of poses, flailing arms and face gestures.....certainly conned a lot of people and judges into thinking she had great artistry on the floor didnt she! but thats just my own opinion which im sure ppl disagree with........

One of the best performances on floor in gymnastics history. Queen Khorkina at her finest
Definitely the best floor routine of her entire gymnastics career. Her opening triple twist was perfection, not to mention the ethereal quality of her dance here. No, her Rotterdame routine in Team Finals 1994 was definitely her best, triple as her 4th pass, and stuck!
А если ещё учесть , что Светлана Хоркина высокая для данного вида спорта , но тем не менее красиво и достойно выступает на всех снарядах ! Молодец !
BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL!
This is legit artwork beautiful! This has to be the prettiest floor routine ever end of story!
She is one of my favorite gymnasts to watch! Even though she's not in it like this anymore, I enjoy rewatching videos! Just her elegance in how she performs, not only on the floor exercise, but all the other apparatuses, like her amazing uneven bar routines!
this and her 2000 floor routine were her best compositions. just beautiful and elegant. should have gotten the gold.
no
So smooth it looks like she's floating... to what music is she performing?
I only know it as Poeme
Poeme by Zdenek Fibich
The music is La Poeme by Zdenek Fibich.
The most beautiful floor routine of all time (end of)

Gogean had many difficult turning leaps in her routine.
She deserved the gold medal

Ugh.
The official lack of artistry deduction was actually introduced in 2001.
It's a shame 9.800 for that routine.
She was perfect!!!
I give you a 10.000, Khorkina.
The artistry was exquisite.
That is how gymnasts should look like !

low on difficulty for the time but SOOO "really artistic gymnastics", no? Tourischeva and Silivas would have clapped.
the music choice is so different to what we see in gymnastics today. but it fits her well for some reason

holy choreography
What are you saying?? She became world AA champion TWICE after that. !
the routine she has in here suits her heightand her body type!
damn..wish she was competing in 1988 or 1989..she would have won easily
Королева 👑 👑 👑
So good!
Does anyone know the name of this song?
Poeme
Others might disagree but tumbling-wise, this should not beat Gogean in this Championships.
really? I'd give this routine the gold hands down
Ummm sadly, not that many! its not a question of who won, who ties, the true champ was robbed, prudunova had power and artistic value, i hope these judges were fired
A silver twister
did she medal

a triple
She tied Gogean with the highest score, but won silver due to a tie-breaker.
only backward tumbling. produnova was sooooo robbed!!!
No wonder Gina won!
Way too much ballet/dancing... in my opinion.
