We did a lab in a Geo-Mechanics course on calculating the permeability of soil using the Constant Head test, and we used this mechanism to maintain the head within the experiment. I was so fascinated by this but I didn't understand fully how it worked, thank you so much, that was much more than I expected and very clear!

Thank you sir Mariotte, you made CISS printers possible :-)
Thanks sir David as well. I believe this is also the principle in automatic pet water dispensers and our cool water dispensers (though I don't see any inlet or siphon on the water dispenser. Maybe water dispensers function more like water tank, relying on the weight of the water more but then the water pressure is constant when it dispense, regardless of the water level).
I would recommend adding the explanation on what pressure truly is and that it's all about the weight (mass + gravity) of the air or air + water above the hole (equal more weight, thus more pressure, creating a pressure difference with the side with more weight going to the one with less or out the bottle which only has atmospheric pressure which is a lesser weight that the air in the siphone + the weight of the water from the bottom hole to the bottom hole of the siphone)
    God bless, Rev. 21:4
