It's just a relief to see Suzuki making an effort over the last couple of years after a decade plus of little more than decal updates. The worthy 800s were nice, the DRZ4S/SM have me genuinely interested.
I like it, so for me, yes. That said, it'll also come down to the price. It has had a mixed reaction but I see it as one more dual sport choice for the UK and if successful other manufacturers will follow.
Thanks a lot! The S5 and S6 trains were all cancelled from FieraMilano back into the city, so after waiting for half an hour we took the metro instead but didn't get back until after 8pm. Then a bit of dinner, and I didn't start the editing until after 9:30. My apologies that these are coming through later than planned. I'm just finishing the BMW edit and that'll be the first five done. Not as many as I would have liked but a good start for the Tuesday night. The rest will follow.
No information out there yet (or none that I’ve seen) though from the cutaway showing the new parts in yellow, some of the gears have changes, which I assume is to address the ratio problem. I’d like to think a slight larger gap 3-4 and a bigger one 4-5 but we shall see.
My pleasure! And my apologies it's a bit later than planned. I filmed 27 videos today. The first 5 are edited and uploaded. The rest will have to wait for another day of filming tomorrow, and I need a few hours sleep at least for that! (Looking like 4hrs at the moment 🤣)
May I ask why you put "lady" in quotes? It's not every stand, or even most countries these days. Some people would rather focus on the bikes rather than have the objectification of women on them. May I ask why you think it's right that there should be a "lady" on the bike?
If I can get a larger tank for the 4s, and a rally tower, I might be considering it. Now we play the waiting game to see how long it will take to get. If it’s anything’like my CRF rally, I might have to wait until 2026, lol...
@ the rally is awesome. It’s got the fuel capacity I need and the wind protection is invaluable, especially this time of year. I got close to $3k in mods and upgrades that I didn’t expect to do, but I still have no regrets either. I’ll probably keep it even if I do get another bike.
@@airadaimagery692 I also got more than 3k in euro to it. And Andreani front cartridge. YSS fully adjustable rear. Moose skid plate. Crash bars from Heavy duties. A full zeta racing package. Polisport hand guards. APX rear rack. Dominator full schist. Many acerbic protection parts. Of course no regrets. The rally is a Swiss knife imho.
Good to see the DRZ back. Shame the models are blocking a good look around the bikes. Like you said, I thought times had moved on. Katana, if they haven't enlarged the fuel tank, it's not very practical!
Guess the new DRZ works much better in reality (like a V-Strom 800) than the sheer technical data suggest. Quite high, not light, only 5 gears, smallish tank. Sort of deja-vu looks. The price decides if it's a bestseller 2025 oder not. Anyway, the horrendous price level of used DRZ 400 will drop substantially. Günter/Nürnberg
Yup. I haven't seen the prices yet. If silly, it'll hit them, especially when there's a lot of competition coming through. I had a look at the Rieju Ventura 307 today. That was interesting...
I think it'll also come down to price. For that power and category, there's a lot of options out there now. The CFMoto 450MT and the new KTM 390 options are both reasonably priced and offer similar bikes to the BMW and earlier. The aftermarket for the others will be full flow by the time this comes out and if it's 50% more expensive, will people choose it?
@PeakMotorcycles in the us they still sell the older model and it's almost 8k usd ready to ride, there's a lot of choices now, if they don't put near the CRF 300l price, only fans of this bike will buy it.
Suzuki is a funny old company. The DRz languished for decades in desperate need of an update, so that's a sensible decision. But the katana updates, which they do constantly, every single one after the original, have been horrible. Hans Muth got that bike exactly right with the original design, and every single time they've decided to "freshen it up" it's worse. They're so ugly now they cause physical pain. They should just restart production of the 1981 design, with just the minimum changes needed for road homologation. Including the wheel sizes and everything. (Maybe cartridge forks and 4 pot brakes for safety)
Unlike the EU and UK they still come to Australia and US ( in the old form that hasn’t changed in basically 20 odd years ) I owned one for 6 odd years . The biggest criticism was the 5 speed box ( the engine looks like the old one ) if it’s still got the 5 speed box it’s CRAP ! , if that’s the case it will be just like the KLR update basically just bolt on fuel injection. 👎
I wish we had your choices! It's been 15 years (I think...) since the DR400 was sold in the UK. There's still a few from before that that have kept going, but the only real dual sport we've had for a while has been the CRF250 and then 300. I hope this is the start of the other manufacturers deciding to make other dual sport bikes and not just 230kg+ "middleweight" adventure bikes. For this it probably is just bolt on fuel injection, though also quite a lot of electronics with three rider modes, switchable ABS (both ends) and traction control. I expect there's a few other changes too to meet the Euro5+ even tighter restrictions that come in from January. We shall see what happens.
@ , I get the ABS thing , but all the pointless rider aids on a 400 dual sport it’s ridiculous, it they updated just with fuel injection, ABS and “ the 6 speed “ which is what ALL US and us Australian riders have been saying for YEARS “ that’s why a lot of riders here got rid of the DRZ over a CRF ( 6 gears and 6th is a fantastic highway gear ) I can tell you in the US and Australia it will not sell well ) when are the Japanese going to start listening to customers? , unfortunately the Chinese are with bikes like the Kovo 450 .
Indeed. It's not just them either. Where possible I ask politely if I could film the bike on it's own and they are always quite happy to step aside. Perhaps a bit of conversation breaks up the day of just sitting there and being told to smile for photos...
Suzuki missed the mark with this new DRZ. Taller, less power ssme crappy 5 speed. They had a chance to do it right, but pulled what Kawasaki did with the KLR. Only slightly updated it and left the crappy stuff alone. Its a miss for this DRZ Fanboy. I perfer my 2011 by a very long way.
@Allosaurus-B its the same exact transmission...other than different materials, its unchanged...so in my opinion, if you cant fix the number one issue thats complained about, its a miss. They had literally 25 years to come up with this new version. They missed it by a mile in my book.
That is a strange take you have. You think objectifying women to sell motorcycles is the same as love?! And to not is hate? I suppose if you’re right, then all the brands that don’t do it, BMW, KTM etc. must also hate women? Or perhaps you are confusing hate with respect? Can you explain why you think it is ok?
Tbh most of the men buying bikes these days would need viagra and a set of steps to get on the bike let alone the women so l agree it’s rather redundant these days
Can’t sell it without EU5+. Testing the water to see if there’s still a dual sport market in Europe? (Don’t think the DRZ400 has been sold here since 2009?)
It's just a relief to see Suzuki making an effort over the last couple of years after a decade plus of little more than decal updates. The worthy 800s were nice, the DRZ4S/SM have me genuinely interested.
Yup, it's great to see a new dualsport from them.
the 4s does look tempting

There you go finally an alternative to the crf! Hope you well mate!😊👍
Let’s hope so. Though double the power and more electronics and 5 speed… let’s see. I saw the Rieju aventura rally 307 today. That I also like.
The fully adjustable suspension and more power will make it a good choice against the crf300l
Its gorgeous ❤ beautiful than crf models
Some like it, some don’t. That’s the way of the world but both are ok.
Ladies on the bikes: better than laddies. I'd like DRZ4SM. Nick
Ornaments from the past.
They had blokes sitting on the bikes last year too. I guess that didn't work out as expected...
About half the stands still do.
Can you find out if the 5 speed gear ratios have changed?
No information out there yet (or none that I’ve seen) though from the cutaway showing the new parts in yellow, some of the gears have changes, which I assume is to address the ratio problem. I’d like to think a slight larger gap 3-4 and a bigger one 4-5 but we shall see.

Did you find if the DRZ is a 6 speed finally? Maybe I missed that.
It's 5 speed
Just 5. They've replaced some elements in the gearbox, but moving to a 6 wasn't one of the results. Unfortunately.
I'm looking forward to your review riding it drz4s.
Me too. Latest for the UK is ‘Summer 2025’ so let’s see when they arrive…
What a great bike. Not a suzuki fan, but glad they have made a quality bike.
I hope so. We have limited choice for dual sports in the UK, and if it's successful I hope it'll encourage other manufacturers to focus on it.
I really, really hoped that Suzuki would come up with a restyled version of their vstrom 650 model but nothing, not even this time. Can't believe 😢
Maybe the 800 is the new ‘small’ one?
@PeakMotorcycles yeah but I liked the vtwin, plus the 19" front wheel, etc. It's not so "off roady".
920 mm seat height for DRZ 400; can it be lowered ?
They didn't mention it, but I'm sure there will be options, even if not from Suzuki.
Yes it can. To 895mm with the extra optional seat
I'm in love with that sm color but I'd like the s version on that color
I guess the plastics can be switched?
I can't see a radiator fan?
bikes.suzuki.co.uk/bikes/adventure-dual-sport/dr-z4s/ says liquid cooled, so there will be one somewhere.
It’s behind the radiator. As always been
@mariosraptor the old DRZ400 E, never had a fan. I know because I own one, and I hate not having it in slow technical trails
Suzi Comeback!

What 's wrong with having a "lady" on the bike? She didn't seem to mind.

@ adds up fast. I heard that the 2025 models are supposed to come stock with flexible LED blinkers? I have to have those!
anyone claiming Suzuki cannot do design… just take a look at these katanas!
I quite like the Katana but some of that might be nostalgia from the design cues. For those that weren’t around in the 80’s it probably looks nuts!
