I think in her situation, I understand. They are old and to divorce now would mess up her son's future and things that should belong to Bao woulds be split out and he would inherit less which is probably why she is looking for her husbands missteps to catch him in to be able to stop him.
I wouldn’t even be that mad he is old and it’s not the same anymore. She said her generation grew up without money. Now that they have it people will indulge. Money only enhances the person you are.
of course money corrupts, but why shouldn’t she be upset? they didn’t agree on an open marriage so the wife can still expect him to be faithful and not spend $$$$ on his affairs. It’s a huge betrayal of trust and age doesn’t dismiss that.
