@@AndiRohdeEnglishChannel why is everyone else on YT calling the offbeat the upbeat? I thought the upbeat is the last beat before the 1st downbeat of a measure
@@ELLIOT8209 And you are correct in that. Well, I guess the upbeat is a concepts which is rarely used, so the distinction is not THAT important. Why many people call it the upbeat? Maybe because off-beat rhythms often FEEL upbeat? But that is just a guess.
Bruh idk if I'm offbeat or not. Whenever I play it seems right, heck I paly along to the actual song most of the times. But when i screen recorded my drumming(I only use a drum game or drum app in my phone to play the drums) it was off, it's so offbeat. I tried playing along a song with a click on it to try and be on beat and it worked while I'm playing but it's still off beat in the recording. Tho I highly doubt it's me and it's just my phone cause I also tried to screen record a TH-cam video and the audio was also delayed. But theres some parts of me that feels I'm actually offbeat
Mh, I think you should just get a lesson with a qualified teacher. Usually they can pinpoint small mistakes you don't even notice and help you sort this out :-)
So question, why is it a 1/8th note shifted? (i'm just a noob) What makes that different from being shifted other distances (like the 1/4 or 1/16)? What makes it "off" vs. being just another note? Thanks for this, it is really helpful.
Good question! The quarter note is not shifted, as it is the reference point. The 8th note is shifted RELATIVE to the fixed quarter note. You CAN have a 16th-note shuffel, where the 8th note is the fixed reference point, but all 16th-note-off-beats are shifted and create a shuffle. I hope this clarifies things :-)
@@ephraimstoddard5652 "Beat" and "Off-Beat" are general terms that apply to the main pulse of a song or exercise. I am not sure what you mean by mixing the instruments.

On beat? Back beat? Could u explain that concept too?
Actually, I did ;-)
You can find a vido on the backbeat on my channel as well.
Also "on-beat" is just "the beat" ;-)

@@AndiRohdeEnglishChannel Question again. is each instrument it's own beat or can you mix them?
