Elizabeth Mutheu left medical practise to start a business making interlocking bricks. We take a look at how an entrepreneurship training she attended is helping her grow her business
The respect I have for this lady right now is more than I could have for any President or politician in Kenya ever. Ever! Lessons learnt, be creative, courageous and focus. Disciplined and patient.. in any major undertaking. Above all look at how it will benefit those around you and not being greedy. Profit of KShs. 7000 may not be much, but it is enough to grow a small business into something bigger. We need more people like Elizabeth in Kenya. Thanks UNDP for sharing and also, can you please even create a website for Elizabeth if possible where she gives the total costs of the materials methods and finished products for the bricks. This would really help because some of us have specifically searched for these kinds of videos to research on its viability. Also sample houses in pics and videos of time lapse construction of case study structures would be very much appreciated. Once again, thanks and God bless.
The process was clearly explained, and I greatly appreciated the pricing structure, as it allowed me to determine the cost of materials and calculate the profit accurately.
Elizabeth good for you! You never know what you will do or where you will end up, but one thing for sure is, your determination is a wonderful example of what can be accomplished for the betterment of all. I think you are amazing!
I have watched this video three times. So much excellent details including costs, instructions and recipes! Thank you so much... Now just to find out where to by the brick making machine!
Wow this is such powerful confirmation for me! When I first learned about brick-making I thought to myself that would be a business I would like to get into and then I see a woman who is successful at it I'm loving this!
I'd like to know if UNDP is still conducting similar trainings for the youth in our country. i would be glad to sign up for such training if it were available.
Thank you for posting this wonderful and inspiring story! I hope we can do the same thing making interlocking bricks from soil and cement here in Guatemala. This could be life-changing... Thank you for showing us it can be done!
And now it's 2022 and I'm wondering how you are doing now with your business. Your story is very intriguing and I wish you and your workers all the best.
I will tell you right this minute this is the 6th video am watching... I begun by wanting a mudhouse, (given the changes with the sun..the Sun 🌞 is getting hotter and hotter...itmake ke rethink)next I know am here and I meet you all.... am here to learn
Interestingly an a nurse willing to explore new ways to integrate healing, nature, and honouring Earth..... We are all one ..one with earth ,the trees, the soil, the sea. *The law of one*..
I have not long ago sank a bore hole. I have a big heap of soil. Can that soil make the makiga bricks. Some of it looks like clay. Pls advise. Situated at githunguri sub county
From my research, I do not believe straw makes it stronger. The strength of compressed earth derives from its internal friction. Straw will only disturb that. Also, clay and cement also do not complement each other. The cement does help the earth blocks survive rain, but does not make it strong like concrete.
as geologist I am very very interested by your explanation, then I would like to bigin with this profession so that means are difficult here burundi,so I lik it very
