Janet never phones it in. She was the standard everyone was chasing, especially in the 90s. Check out Jody Watley too she was pushing boundaries at around the same time.

Great reaction. If you have not done the following, I would recommend these:
    1. Come Back to Me
    2. Love Will Never Do Without You
    3. Together Again
    4. I Get Lonely
    5. Someone to Call My Lover
    6. Son of a Gun

Janet Jackson is beautiful inside and out. Love her. Got Till It's Gone heavily samples Joni Mitchell's Big Yellow Taxi - a classic song that's well worth checking out.

    -no sleeep

Great Janet reactions - love her! Doesn’t Really Matter was a very cool song and video. I’m sure there’s a MTV making the video somewhere on TH-cam. Janet and her dancers actually performed on a tilting dancefloor, while being harnessed in so they wouldn’t fall off. So definitely, there was a budget lol.

One thing that I absolutely adore about Janet is her ever evolving imagination in everything she does. Here you have a woman that is drop dead gorgeous and undeniably pretty…yet she always tries to push the boundaries of beauty and not rest on being just a pretty face. Her videos seem like they are visions of herself in the future filled with Afrocentric undertones and themes that make me just sit and marvel about…almost like she has been living in Wakanda all this damn time…ugh!…my hero! Put her in the next Black Panther movie. #RecastTchalla

I LOVE your reaction to Janet's video's, she has the most esthetically pleasing ,creative , and melodical video's in the industry which is why she is the Queen, and Blueprint, of female artists like Beyonce, Ciara, Britney, Aaliyah , Jlo and the list goes on. Janet , along with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis produced her songs . Janet has input regarding her video's as well.

I had a huge crush on Janet growing up. Such an amazing talent and yet doesn't get mentioned anywhere near as much as she should (In the wake of Beyonce). Janet's music is just more my vibe. Check out:
"Rhythmn Nation", "That's the way love goes", "Together again" and "Say you do".
Janet and George (Michael) were supposed to do a duet together on his "Trojan Souls" album that never came to fruition, such a shame, there are snippets and footage of him making the track online.

Cool fact about the Doesn’t Really Matter video. That platform they were dancing on was in fact tilting side to side during filming. Janet and the dancers were harnesses to keep them balanced. There’s an MTV making the video on TH-cam and you can see them slipping and losing balance multiple times during those scenes.

  • @sashabertold3731
    @sashabertold3731 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

So pleasing your reaction. The first 3 songs followed me through my teenage years & early 20s very fond memories.
When "Doesn't Really Matter" hit #1 in 2000, I was already nostalgic about Janet because at that time she's been around for like forever.
I think Darkchild was behind the absolute masterpiece production of "Matter" but I might be wrong? Long long time.

This was a lot of fun to watch. Janet is amazing! I’m not sure if the younger generation truly understand the level of superstardom Janet was operating on before the 2004 Super Bowl scandal. Her star power dimmed a bit post scandal, but in her heyday she rivaled Madonna for the title of Queen of pop. Some make the argument that she’s the rightful owner of that title. Ciara, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, TLC, Backstreet Boys, Pink, Aaliyah, Beyoncé, Usher, ChrisBrown, Britney Spears, and Christina Aguilera are just a handful of the diverse group of artists she inspired. As a matter of fact, rock singer Alanis Morrisette is such a huge Janet stan that when Janet started getting backlash for the super bowl debacle, Alanis wore a naked suit in protest and in support of Janet.
Check out: “Black cat,” “Just a little while,” “The best things in life are free (with Luther Vandross),” “Twenty Foreplay,” and the most iconic live performance with an interesting back story “What about” at the 1998 Fashion awards. For the song “Twenty Foreplay” if you don’t listen to the audio only album version, you will miss out on how truly epic this song really is. On the other hand, if you don’t watch the shorter video version, you’ll miss out on how truly mesmerizing Janet looked playing another great icon in an effort to land a movie role based on this icon’s life. The album version is a superior song. The video is amazing. Whichever you choose to react to, be sure to check out the other. The difference isn’t subtle.
Would love to see you check out another legend who has been a vocal inspiration to many:Chaka Khan. Through the fire, Ain’t nobody, Sweet thing (with her band Rufus), I feel for you, Higher love (often uncredited on chorus with Steve Winwood) are some of her legendary hits.

I agree that this young generation doesn’t know how major Janet is!! People bring up Beyoncé but she reall can’t be put in the same space as Janet! Even with blacklisting she still put out fantastic music that would have topped the charts. Unbreakable debuted at #1 when it came out… I think with this new album. During an interview just after Unbreakable, she said that she had nothing else to prove, it’s all about fun now.. At 56 Janet still performs the same if not better than she did in all of these videos, she’s other worldl…

  • @davidbarnes1113

Janet is the blueprint for many of today’s female artist . She was like a female version of her brother without trying to imitate or ride off his fame. She commanded the stage like him, and you couldn’t help but stand up and pay attention to her. And even today at 56 she is still the consummate performer. Did you skip Together Again and I Get Lonely ? Maybe there are in your pt 1 video?
