I can't wait to see your Apricot and Fig crops. I wish you well with the growth. I can't grow a thing, so I specialize in exotic weeds and trees that seed themselves. So I'm serious when I say, I wish you well. Great digging Lionel.....crack on!
Spear & Jackson are excellent spades. I have one and it’s capable of handling a huge amount of pressure. I’ve dug up roots with it. Cheaper ones just break.
That was fun. I watched closely for when we plant a couple of trees in the spring. 😉 The fall planting time is too late for us as the snow has already arrived here. Another fun time, I do enjoy you both. Ronnie in Saskatchewan
the walnut needs to have its special place not too close to the fruit trees as in its vicinity no other plant nor tree will get enough water out of the soil
Walnut trees produce a substance called juglone that tends to prevent other plants from growing in the vicinity of the tree. Yours is probably alright due to the distance from the other trees.
@@OurChateauLife it depends on how high & wide the tree will get. walnut trees have beautiful crowns and wide ones and in their diameter nothing much can thrive.
@@elisabetharzberger2456absolutely. I knew someone who had a walnut tree in their garden and it took up a good amount of space in its maturity. A beautiful tree though.
I brought a Apricot tree for our Orchard they will only fruit if the winter is cold , my one has taken 3 years to give any fruit they grown into a med size tree and sometimes u need more then 1 which u brought 2 . Plums seem to be the most easy tree to grow as i have 3. Two older ones and 1 new one that has in the 3 years given fruit after the second winter . Also have a Walnut but its a massive tree and needs a big space . Peach trees are also easy to grow .I would keep the trees away from the wall as u do not want there roots growing close to that .And they should all have been staked with wooden stakes u still can just go buy some it help if a storm blows through .
I hope they do well, we are planning to try and keep the walnut under control so it doesn't get too big there but I would like to plant another one somewhere else where there is more space for it to really grow
Figs fruit best with their roots constricted I believe. Fantastic compost indeed! I was horticulturist before retirement. I bet you photographed many Royalty planting trees? 🌴
Ah interesting, we have a couple of smaller ones in pots too - they haven't done much yet. I think Lionel could probably produce a whole book of Royals planting trees 🤣
Are you being manly….. you 2 crack me up…. Prolly as funny as the couple at Chateau de Pican😂 ( Jane & Rory) They are spaniel folks too….. so obviously good people🤗

Oh we have plenty of weeds too - I'm really hoping these trees do well - the first apricot will be magical

Oh dear - don't take gardening advice from us 🤣
Hi love watching you two and today you made me laugh , what pathetic digging in a funny way 😂 ,but how lovely to be planting trees. Great Xmas press 🤗
Glad you enjoyed it 🤣 The trees are such a lovely present - so much nicer than just "stuff" that you will never use
Fantastic trees. Love a good orchard
I hope they do well - still lots of space to plant more too
Great job guys .❤

How kind of you to think of the Squirrels' winter store options for the future.
We also seem to grow cherries just for the birds! 🤣

Thats interesting, its probably about 5 metres away from the other trees - do you think thats enough?

@@OurChateauLife It would probably take several decades for the walnut tree to affect the other trees. They mainly affect under-story trees.

We shall have to watch them! Spaniels only choose the best people of course 😂
What type of tree is the Bergeron because that is my maiden name? Thanks from the USA 🎉
the "Bergeron", botanically Prunus armeniaca 'Bergeron' is a mediterranean apricot
Maybe next time if you want to mux the soil with tge compost, place the soil into the wheelbarrow.
Good idea - thank you
I thought that too 😀🤪
