Thank you for bringing us on your walk to Gelmersee. We will be going there in June 2023 to enjoy the ride and scenery. You guys are pretty serious hikers and I take my hat off to you! We will just walk to the dam area and back as we are not that fit to do the round lake walk.
You mentioned going on a week day which is not a problem during our stay in Meiringen. My concern is booking in advance because of the weather since there is no refund. We will be there June 5-10th and wonder whether we can take a risk by booking only a day or two when we can see the weather forecast. There is no way we can hike up like you guys. Any advice is most welcome.
Once again, great high definition shots and a virtual enjoyable family hike with you.

Thank you for your kind words… 🙏
Yes normally in the week days you will have place. It gets booked out well in advance for the weekends.
One secret is that they have one ride that is in first come first serve basis. And that is the first ride. They don’t publish that in the schedule. So go there an hour before the 1st officially published ride schedule. Get the tickets and enjoy the bridge. Then hop into the funi. Lots of people don’t know that as they only check the schedule in the website and this one is not in the online schedule. And if you go early; you can book the tickets to come down at the same time. Normally the tickets to come down gets sold out after 14:00 and if you go early; you will be done by mid day. So no problem on getting tickets to come back either.
On top June will be a bit better with respect to crowd in week days as it is still not summer holidays in the local schools. Weather is unpredictable in Switzerland. But yes you should have a good idea of it few days in advance. But things do change here frequently. Specially on mountains.
If possible go there on a bright day to enjoy the beautiful color of the lake. It doesn’t look as beautiful and colorful in a dull day.

@@AMPhotography ok thanks for the tips. Your videos are most impressive. If we are only going to walk to the dam area to look around (not taking the lake hike), you think it’s best to give 1 hr or 1.5hr before booking the funi down?

Yes it should be all right. My son was 12 when we were there and we had no problems. But he is hiking from the age of 3. So he has good experience.
