To be honest, it is hilarious seeing a British man experiencing actual winter :D But I completely understand your fear and concerns, as you have not had much experience in similar conditions. What you genuinely have to be scared there is only snowstorms/blizzards, as without 4wd and clearance you can get stuck very easily, and the roads don't seem to be cleaned well at all.
We don't really get proper winters in England anymore. Northern Scotland kind of does but still nothing on the scale of what the USA and Canada gets. The thing I was worried about was a storm, as I understand they happen randomly and when if that would have happened I'd have been very stuck and relying on truck drivers to help me. For the experience it would have been shorter and cheaper if you took the ferry from England to Bergen and travelled to northern Norway in winter. There you'll also meet real Iceroad drivers who have to drive 60 tonnes over narrow, winding roads and where passes are sometimes closed for a few days. But I like people who are a bit crazy.
Just continue cranking and give it some gas.... What's the problem? I started my old MB 250 Diesel -92 in -25 without any problems whatsoever. Starter just sounds a little tired as it cranks the engine. Anything mechanical might feel a little different until it gets up to temp. Nothing to worry about.
Mega stuff will the BM make it 🤔 and what next for the car 🤔 whatever you do dont abandon it in the States ☹️ you should write a book about all the cars adventures 🤔🤔 Best thing on TH-cam to watch 👍🏻👌🏻😎
