Absolutely! Four Sopranos singing in perfect harmony to pay tribute to one of their own- stunning. Queen Latifah's reaction was a deeply seated appreciation of Music, regardless of the genre. I felt the same way. Brava Ladies, Multi Brava!
Angel Blue's voice has gotten so much better and more powerful over the years. She towers over the other three. That's what a true operatic voice can do and it's breathtaking.
I was in Renee's first Russlka as a wood nymph. Seattle Opera. It was magical! She was so kind to all of us. Ben Heppner was the Prince & Susan Graham as Waterboy. Gunther Schneider-Simpson used Pani projectors to create an unbelievably realistic lake in the stage. Renee walked out on a bridge to the moon at the end. It was truly a remarkable production! Memories. Blessings on Renee! She has given so much of herself to the operatic world and more. 🙏🎶♥️
I saw this production in Seattle and it was stunning. Renee Fleming is a class act. Saw her decades ago at the Met in Manon Lescaut. Memorable performance as well.
@@davidalbro2009 A little yes. But given that Czech is a difficult language, I understood everything except for one or two words. They handled it beautifully🙂
Rusalka is one of Renée's signature roles. Whether or not you liked this presentation, it was, I'm sure, truly meaningful to Renée that they chose this aria and that they sang it in Czech. Renée's voice is instantly recognizable to anyone who has heard her sing, and her presence onstage in an opera highlighted not only her voice but her considerable acting ability. There have been many truly remarkable sopranos, but comparing them seems pointless. Something that they all share is their individual identifiable operatic voices. All different, but all truly remarkable.
Nadine Sierra’s is one of this generation’s finest young sopranos and seems to light up the stage whenever she is singing. Sierra’s coloratura is effortless and her voice has a lovely fluidity.
This reminds me of the scene from Driving Miss Daisy, as she said, by her radio, listening to this beautiful song. I bought the CD immediately. A beautiful tribute to Miss Fleming
You can feel all four sopranos singing to her with gratitude which is touching. Not one of them is a patch on Fleming in her prime of course - this is talent paying tribute to greatness.
Magníficas!! Espléndidas!! Se lucieron con la canción de Rusalka, canción a la luna 🌓😍😍 ese performance del MET con Renne y Piotr es una de las más recordadas ❤
OMG, one of my favorite arias that Renee has ever sung. These women brought me to tears.❤ I just wish they would’ve held the last high note a little longer
So interesting hearing them next to each other. Such different voices but all great in their unique way. Sierra really commands the stage and her voice (although she’s not my favorite of the group-splitting hairs, I suppose)!
Few people outside the Czech Republic knew this aria, then Renée came along. Now every soprano learns and sings this piece at auditions. And the auditors think, "Oh no, do we have to listen to another "Song to the Damn Moon?" Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. 🤣
Silver moon high in the summer sky All through the night pierce your rays This sleeping world, you wander by Shining on our homes and ways This sleeping world, you wander by Shining on our homes and ways Oh moon where past you glide Tell me oh where does my loved one bide Oh moon where past you glide Tell me oh where does my loved one bide Tell him oh tell him my silver moon Mine are the arms that shall hold him That between waking and sleeping he may Know of the love that awaits him May between waking and sleeping, he may Know of the love that awaits him Oh moon light his path far away Tell him oh tell him who does for him stay Oh moon light his path far away Tell him oh tell him who does for him stay Human soul, should it dream of me Let by memory wakened be Oh moon, my silver moon Do not wane! Oh moon! Moon! Do not wane!
Seeing these women sing to her reminds me how great Renee Fleming actually is. None of these ladies are anywhere close to her level in her prime. Renee is one of the great sopranos.
I'm not sure if you are saying you didn't like the performance because I thought these ladies were wonderful and have much to look forward to in their careers. They definitely gave a beautiful performance in honor of Renee!
You can definitely have your opinion, but Renee could not light a candle to three of these singers. They beat her with beauty, coloratura, and upper extension (Renee did not have consistent nites above a high C).
Renée Fleming is a full lyric soprano. Her signature has always been the warmth, vibrancy, and beauty of her voice, not her upper extension of ability to sing notes rapidly. She's not a coloratura.@@mariomazzi7894
I am not ignoring Renee's talent, she was a solid singer who sang specific roles well. Nevertheless, her high-notes were not enviable. You can tell that she technically sings them, but they were not easy. She has even mentioned it in interviews. Her color was beautiful, but if I want to hear Depuis le jour or Chi il bel sogno di Doretta, Sempre Libera, Thais or any of the Italian repertoire (except the Countess), I will not listen to her. She chose to sing some pieces like she was experiencing an orgasm and she added sloppy portamenti at her will. The voice was good for Arabella and the Countess. Even her jazz is overly produced and mechanical. @@kngiht84
Paramount + is streaming the broadcast if you’re in the U.S. It seems since a new production took over last year, these musical segments are nothing like those in the past. The tribute finale for Sir Barry Gibb deserved better as well.
The people with the nastiest, most uninformed opinions are also usually a bunch of cowards who hide behind pseudonyms. If you don’t put your name to it, nothing you have to say is of any interest to me. At ALL.
@user-qu6wi3hu8f it’s a high Bb (B flat) and no one cracked. Julia Bullock stayed on the Gb, which was simply adding a harmony note. Considering this was an “arrangement” of a soprano aria in the first place (which seemed to piss off quite a few listeners here [but not me]) it was a valid choice. If I want to hear the King James version of Dvořák’s Song to the Moon from Rusalka I’ll listen to my Zinka Milanov recording, which has rarely been equaled and never surpassed.
Queen Latifahs reaction was all of us watching this, overwhelmed at the beauty

Baby has been working!!! I love them all, dearly. I cherish their art. But Angel and Nadine are two of my absolute favorite these days!!!!
They're all wonderful. My favourite artiste is Angel Blue, her voice is a thing of beauty a joy forever

Queen Latifah's reaction at the end of the piece (2:24) was priceless!!
Angel Blue sounds absolutely stunning. It sits perfectly in her voice.
Angle blue est juste magnifique
Best part was Queen Latifah's reaction to the power of these four collective voices. Brava!
This is my favourite tribute! These amazing women's singing gave me goosebumps!🙌💕💕💕💕
This was the best of all the tributes! You don't have to understand classical/opera music but look at Queen Latifah. She gets it ...
Amazing!!
I am from Czech Republic, big respect for this women singing in Czech language.
BRAVO!
Their pronunciation seemed a little shaky. Am I correct?
@@davidalbro2009 A little yes. But given that Czech is a difficult language, I understood everything except for one or two words. They handled it beautifully🙂
I got goosebumps when they all started singing together
True dat 😍
Angel Blue is magnificent
Beautiful performance of this aria by all the ladies. My compliments, for how they all sang in the Czech language.💖👏👏👏
Wow... Four beautiful voices, especially Angle Blue's voice - an angel like voice that touches my heart so deeply❤
My God! The heavens opened and we heard the angels💞💞💞💞
My favorite moment from the program.
Mine too!!

Magnificent singing from all of them! Moved me to tears
Queen Latifah just discovered the joy of classical singing (in a hybrid of solo & choral).
OMG, just lovely, absolutely lovely and powerful.
So beautiful 🌹🌹🌹🌹
so beautiful...omg! i am in tears...good tears
This is one of my favorite arias, it is superfluous to comment how these ladies sang it superbly...

I saw the three divas on PBS and it was so beautiful 😊
I love her voice! Very similar to Renée's voice. I liked the lady next to her too. The other two were okay.
Fabulous beyond words!
Four really lovely voices.
The high point of the Honors. Awesome, awestruck, almighty voice of the Goddess

A beautiful tribute to Miss Fleming
My favorite, well this and Cynthia. Proud of all the honorees
There once were The Three Tenors. Let’s now have The Four Sopranos!
There were actually The Three Sopranos once, too. Great cd recording.
So glad they honored Renee!! She is so deserving and the singers did amazing in their tributes!🙌🫶
Renee is phenomenal. And still working
I’m all chocked up….that gave me goosebumps! This was amazing to hear, stunning 💜✨🙌🏽
If I listen to this one more time, I will be in the Guinness Book of World Records. I mesmerized, I have always loved this song composed by Dvorak.

I'm humbled.💜

I first discovered this aria through Sarah Brightman's classics cd.
Come through Divas!
Wonderful
That was incredible!

Magnificent! One of my favorite tributes of the night! 😀
Listening to those voice is about joy. Maximum expression!

Deep inside, Renee was critiquing the Sopranos🤣. Loved Angel Blue.
Everyone was great, but I wish it was an Angel Blue solo instead.
The aria should have been sung by Angel Blue alone.
Haven't seen the whole thing but I feel Renee deserved better
It was fantastic and it was a worthy tribute for Renee. You mad that it wasn't all white women singing for Renee?
What does race have to do with it???
Such as?
@@eanderson1974 No, it's just that it could have used more opera because that is what she is primarily known for.

Angel is the only one who truly deserves to be on that stage. Julia is a hot mess and Ailyn is only somewhat better.
The one on the right is good.
