It is beautiful to see the life and culture of the Dinè peoples. They have lost so much of the old ways in today's world. They may have been considered poor by the standards of that time. But they richer, by far, in their beliefs and their way of life. May everyone walk in beauty.

They lost so much of the old ways because the US government kept annihilating their farms and shooting everyone-and driving them farther into the desert
Its not like some magical event

Beautiful. Seems like another place, with what's going on in the world right now we could have learnt a lot from native culture and the world would have been a better place. Hopefully if we make time to listen we still could

New subscriber here, I enjoyed watching this video at a time when there was harmony in the land. If there was a time machine, I would definitely go back to this time period.

So interesting that the family of the girl prepared to sand to be used in this healing ceremony. Oops, on thinking about it, the women who prepared the sand for the sand painting are probably assistants, or perhaps family members of the sand painting Doctor. I wonder if the healing ceremony for a man has the sand prepared by men? In any case I thank the Sandpainting Doctor for allowing the ceremony to be filmed so as to share their culture with whomever. I’ve been to Navajo (Dine’) but not to Monument Valley. Played my flute on the trail to White House Ruin, Canyon de Chelly (this word sounds like Shay). Slept one night in a hogan, because it was too cold to camp.

The Navajo sand paintings should belong to the world heritage. It is not my intention to offend anyone, but the important significance of the Navajo Sand Paintings is not understood even by the current generation of Navajo. Many of the sand paintings refer to the most dramatic event in human history, the crossing of a ninth planet in our solar system that comes close to planet Earth every few thousand years. During this crossing a disaster is caused on our planet which is mainly characterized by a flood. The cycle of disasters produces a cycle of civilizations. One civilization can develop for a long time to a level even above our current level. Then there are four civilizations that can only exist for a few thousand years. It is precisely this fact, four short and one long civilization, that has been recorded in many variations on sand paintings. The orbit of that planet is also recorded on a sand painting. In the e-book "Ancient Navajo Knowledge" I explain the variations. We must be grateful to the Navajo people for memorizing that information for thousands of years.

It is a healing ceremony for the girl to bring her back to harmony. Apparently she has some kind of illness.
