Thank you for watching, it's much appreciated! I tried my best to write down the lyrics of this song as accurately as possible, but if there are any mistakes feel free to correct them. *Fred Astaire & Joan Crawford - Heigh Ho, the Gang's All Here (1935) [Lyrics]* *Choir:* Heigh ho, the gang's all here So let's have pretzels and let's have beer. Heigh ho, it's time to start And put some spirit in the party. Oh, boy, the world's all right We won't be singing the blues tonight. Let's give the grand old cheer It's all so merry when the gang's all here! Hail, all hail, put your worries up for sale Hail, all hail, let the good old days prevail. Heigh ho, the gang's all here We all have pretzels, we all have beer Sing loud, the coast is clear So let's make merry while the gang's all here! *Girls:* Heigh ho The gang's all here So let's have pretzels Let's have beer Heigh ho It's time to start And put some spirit In the party! Oh, boy The world's all right We won't be singing The blues tonight Let's give The grand old cheer It's all so merry When the gang's all here! *Fred Astaire:* Stand up and sing We've got the gang together We always sang together Stand up and sing. *Joan Crawford:* Get in the swing We've got no time for waiting It's time for celebrating Get in the swing. *Fred Astaire:* Heigh ho, the gang's all here So let's have pretzels and let's have beer Heigh ho, it's time to start And put some spirit in the party! *Joan Crawford:* Oh, boy, the world's all right We won't be singing the blues tonight Let's give the grand old cheer It's all so merry when the gang's all here! *Choir:* Hail, all hail, put your worries up for sale Hail, all hail, let the good old days prevail. You know if the Tom Holland as Fred Astaire biopic really happens, I hope they give us a more nuanced and sympathetic portrayal of Joan Crawford at the least.
All you people who are surprised she danced. She worked her butt off dancing at clubs in Hollywood trying to get noticed. And was she successful! I wish everyone who read and saw Mommie Dearest could see this!! 💃
Yes, this was Fred Astaire's first film, and he started it all by dancing with Joan Crawford. It also featured early appearances of Nelson Eddy and The Three Stooges. You can see that MGM was trying to capitalize on the very successful Busby Berkeley musicals that Warner's was producing at the time. At this point, this was the most expensive film MGM produced for Crawford, and it turned out to be a huge hit for her.
Fred Astaire and Joan Crawford are just so in sync with each other dancing. I was wondering if Busby Berkeley did the directing and choreography ?? Love to watch this movie again.
All of the actresses and actors who are triple threats back in the day. They all sang, danced and acted! Thank you so much for this fabulous clip! ♥️👍🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Look at all the different languages in the comments. People may try to rob Joan Crawford of her star due to what they believe she was like as a person, but she triumphs them all. And what is there to say about Fred Astaire that hasn't already been said? He's fabulous ;)
I just love Joan Crawford's dancing. She has a style all her own!! And this routine with Fred Astaire is so entertaining!! I heard if it wasnt for her, he wouldn't have gotten this part.
Love this especially the girls shaysaying in their satin gowns, the men in their tuxedos. Joan Crawford and Fred Astair with their wonderful dance routines. Tops
Reminds me of when I was young and mom would let me stay up late to watch "The Channel 7 Late night movies" I should have been in bed early, but loved these movies 😅
Dear Albert, You're very welcome and thank you for watching, it's much appreciated! I am delighted to hear that you enjoyed it as much as I have. Have a nice weekend. Best wishes, Stu
No wonder she was alcoholic and depressed at the roles she got in the fifties and sixties!! Oh, the ageism of Hollywood!! My heart breaks for her--quite a comedown from being THE star in fur and satin dancing in the clouds with Fred Astaire.
Remember on 'What's My Line' when asked if she could dance, Joan said yes, the compare of the show made her take it back. Later she tried to explain but no one was listening. This was before classic movies became fodder for early television. The new media always feeds of the old. Untill TCM came along these movies were on TV morning, noon and night. 'The Late Show,' was ingrained in society at the time. Most of these movies are falling into public domain, when will they become part of everyday viewing again?
That was spectacular, two great icons together loved the whole scene, music dancing obviously, this film was pre Ginger, what woman could help but dance when Fred was in the lead, of course Fred & Ginger will always be the best, It was a treat to see Joan but then was there anything she coudnt do?
She wasn't a very good dancer, but had a screen presence like no other. If you compare Joan with the extras that actually got to speak in this clip, she totally stood out as having star quality!
She kept up with Fred astaire in his first on screen dance and in that ridiculously oversized dress, she owned the essence of the charlatan she's a wonderful high energy dancer and the imperfections make it
The only move that I thought was clunky was at the beginning where Fred threw her and the way that she landed. The rest of it looked solid for the jazzy kind of music that she was dancing to, perfectly in synch with Fred. I wasn’t even aware that she could dance like that at all. Fred was One of those legends who seemed like he was dancing on air the whole time.
Just think that in about 5 years from now this will be 100 years old...in human terms to think the majority of these performers would've died 50 years ago. 🫣👍
Absolutely, it's really remarkable when you consider the historical and temporal perspective. In about five years, these performances will reach the centennial mark, and reflecting on the fact that many of these artists would have died half a century ago adds an even deeper layer of appreciation for their enduring impact. Time has a way of underscoring the legacy and cultural significance of these performances. It's a poignant realization.
I love this song! Does anyone know the lyrics?
Thank you for watching, it's much appreciated! I tried my best to write down the lyrics of this song as accurately as possible, but if there are any mistakes feel free to correct them.

It's time for celebrating
Get in the swing.

Joan Crawford first person to dance on screen with Fred Astair and she was marvelous!
Thank you for watching and commenting, it's much appreciated! Have a nice weekend. Best wishes, Stu
Few people know this! It wasn't Ginger!
These people died long ago,but we still enjoy these movies. Great legacy of all of them; actors and chorus girls..
Joan certainly was dazzling in her youth and worked incredibly hard to become a star.
The days when stars were really stars, such style and charisma. None can match them today.
Stars were stars until about the 50s when TV came in and replaced them.
Agree
Joan Crawford was so gorgeous, Fred so debonair. Pity they didn't do more together.
Thanks for the video.
What a love is the smile on Crawford's face when she dances it's so breathtaking.
That dress just smothers Crawford, but she fights back with style and determination!
A wonderful number. Joan was so beautiful in the 1930s.
Joan is just lovely here and looks so happy.
Joan is fantastic in this number!! "Dancing Lady" was MGM's answer to the hugely successful Busby Berkeley musicals coming from Warner Brothers.
I love Joan Crawford so much. What a beautiful actress
Watching this puts me in another world as if I’m watching this up close. It must have been pure escapism for a Depression-weary country.
Some years ago the Film Forum in New York showed this. When Fred Astaire appeared as himself the audience applauded. That was a sign of class.
That was pretty cool, especially the part where they are dancing and flying, then landing.
Joan was a good dancer. Go Joan Go!
Who knew Joan Crawford could dance? And that well!
Watch her in "Our Dancing Daughters" or in "Dance, Fools, Dance"
Yes, this was Fred Astaire's first film, and he started it all by dancing with Joan Crawford. It also featured early appearances of Nelson Eddy and The Three Stooges. She looks sooooo beautiful.
This is the happiest I have ever seen her in a performance
absolutely magical
The Queen of Hollywood FOREVER
Once again Crawford shows her beauty
Joan Crawford looks so beautiful. I’ve only seen her later films (Mildred Pierce and later). I loved this clip - thank you.
Fred Astaire and Joan Crawford are just so in sync with each other dancing.
I was wondering if Busby Berkeley did the directing and choreography ??
Love to watch this movie again.
Busby Berkeley was at Warners at the time, but his influence was present.
No, Busby Berkeley was at Warner Brothers. But this film was obviously MGM trying to duplicate the Warners' fantastically successful musicals.
Have to give Crawford credit for dancing well in that ridiculous gown.
De Golden Age off musical of cinema great talent Fred Astaire and Joan Crawford Legend of cinema
That's why I love the 30s ❤️❤️❤️❤️
All of the actresses and actors who are triple threats back in the day. They all sang, danced and acted! Thank you so much for this fabulous clip! ♥️👍🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
We don't have these type of stars today. I'm 78 I'd rather watch all the old films, loved the musicals the best. But old films are the best.
Joan dancing in that gown👏🏻
TWO BIG STAR ⭐️ FOREVER ‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️❤️❤️❤️❤️👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Look at all the different languages in the comments. People may try to rob Joan Crawford of her star due to what they believe she was like as a person, but she triumphs them all. And what is there to say about Fred Astaire that hasn't already been said? He's fabulous ;)
She looked marvellous and so cool under pressure - she makes it look easy
The great joan crawford great sound love the 1920s 1930s great movie
Maravilloso el cuadro la escenografia y la DANZA
I just love Joan Crawford's dancing. She has a style all her own!! And this routine with Fred Astaire is so entertaining!! I heard if it wasnt for her, he wouldn't have gotten this part.

You're very welcome! And thank you for watching, it's truly appreciated!
Fabulous - its 2019 - stll watching these masterpieces - take me back to the era of the fabulous musicals of the 30s and 40s. More plse Utube.
Last line: “You know … She keeps spinning like that all the time … and I’m always dizzy.” Yes, they were both very special.
No wonder she was alcoholic and depressed at the roles she got in the fifties and sixties!! Oh, the ageism of Hollywood!! My heart breaks for her--quite a comedown from being THE star in fur and satin dancing in the clouds with Fred Astaire.
now i knew fred was a wonderful dancer, 😎 but i never knew joan was a fantastic hoofer. 👧
I love Joan Crawford! She was a true star❤

Mais uma faceta da Joan, que eu desconhecia, "ela dançava"! E ao lado de Fred, há 88 anos atrás! E ele já era esse mestre que é, da dança!
Watch her do the Charleston in " Our Dancing Daughters! "
Thank you for the video
This aged very well!
Makes me so happy

@@djb1317 i don't know how anyone could dance in that thing . ..she did well

Thanks for posting. I've waited years to see this!
This just shows how JC deserved all the plaudits she ultimately received. Pure talent. Very rare.
el mejor bailarin del mundo....con la mejor actriz de todos los tiempos........................
CRAWFORD WAS A REAL HOOFER
Beautiful clip. Thank you.
MARAVILLOSOS
本当に素敵な映像。クロフォードとアステアのダンスが見られるとは、この上ない幸せ。
Joan Crawford and Alice Faye were friends, and both were underrated.😢
Somebody didn't like it. I wish I could like again.

Muchas gracias por publicar esta pieza musical en la que el ícono del baile, Fred Astaire muestra su arte.
+maria eva montes de oca
Bienvenido, me alegra que te gusto.
She's no great dancer but she committed and stayed PRESENT...she held her own with Astaire and he looked like he enjoyed her company.
Fred Astaire empezó s hacer peliculas cuando ya empezaba a hacerse mayor . Imaginenlo en sus mejores años de juventud .
Stu - a beautifully written description!!!
What better way for Fred to start his career than starting it with Joan Crawford
Encantadora la Crawford en esa época.
Joan estuvo encantadora en todas las épocas. La vejes de ella fue un momento de su imagen muy perfilado y vestía mejor que en su juventud.
How many hours of rehearsals.... how many hours of sweat to get it right ...wow
This and Keb Mo doing Put Woman in Charge w/ Roseanne Cash. Perfect for now!❤
💙💙💪💪💙💙
She’s no Eleanor Powell! That’s what Eddie Cantor said!!!!
💙💙💜💜
Ça alors ! Joan Crawford savait AUSSI danser, et comment ! Et avec Fred Astaire ! Ça alors !
Merci d'avoir regardé et commenté, c'est très apprécié! Bon week-end. Meilleurs voeux, Stu
That dress was all over the place and likely weighed her down. Still, didn't she do great with Fred?
And a couple of months later he would be partnered with Ginger.
Don't know joan was that good of a dancer
Let’s have pretzels.
It's in the wrong key for Joan to sing it - she actually had a good singing voice.
Crawford dancing with a broken ankle.
Just think that in about 5 years from now this will be 100 years old...in human terms to think the majority of these performers would've died 50 years ago. 🫣👍
