It is better that rice straw is cut into small pieces and introduced into a biogas plant where cellulose and hemicellulose are converted gaseous methane fuel mixed with CO2 almost (1:1).CO2 can be stripped by passing the gas mixture through an amine tank resulting in 98% methane which can be compressed to be used as a fuel. The CO2 can be separated from amine for compression. The sludge contains lignin and can be used as a solid fuel. The leachate from the sludge is a good fertilizer. All of this can be done at a minimum investment when compared to that required to make bio ethanol.
