I was recruited by a SF SFC back when I was 23 on Smoke Bomb Hill- I still have my regrets that I didn't go SF. They are the real Jedi Knights. You can keep your marines, Thank you very much.
Inter agency chest thumping is normal for all branches. Even within them. When not on deployment. When it gets real, there is not one SEAL who wouldn't come to support an Army Ranger, or vice versa. Or SF trooper, or Air Force, or Marine, [not sure about CIA though ;-) ]. But the roles of many of these units are unique in their mission and methods. Therefore differences. At home maybe competitors, smack talkers. "Who is the bravest, badest, craziest, best.... ? "
Bro I read a special forces book It was a SEAL talking about the rangers. So what happened is one ranger goes through a doorway and gets shot and injured his ranger teammates are right behind the door wondering if their life if worth giving to save his teammates. The SEAL that heard this story had the same situation happen to him and he ran through the doorway without hesitation and he saved his teammate. So what I am trying to say is that SEALs care and will sacrifice for their teammates I don't really know if that's the case for the rangers.

Cool bro, fuckin' get that shit, & don't quit! Practice night time land navigation, w/maps & a compass, practice walking atleast 20 miles w/45 lbs of gear, & DO NOT go through SF selection with new boots on, when on the Q course, & the 35 mile land navigation test, wear old worn-in boots! The 3 things that cause recruits to fail: New boots, lack of Night time land-Nav experience, & weak shoulders. Good luck. Cheers from Washington!

I have a question, I am attending school studying Cyber Security and i speak a bit of Arabic because i am from a middle eastern background. Would it be possible to join after i obtain my degree?
Assuming you have never attempted this before - Don't sleep for 24 hours. Then put 40 pounds of weight in your school backpack. Then start walking in some comfortable shoes. If you can carry that weight 15 miles on your first attempt without stopping for a break - then you "might" have a chance. But understand that you will have to get MUCH tougher than that. Also, improve your Arabic. And be ready to learn a wide array of things. It's an extremely tough challenge. But it IS achievable - if you put your mind to it.
A beautiful path in the armed forces. The problem is that depends on the asvab scores. If you don't have the necessary scores, you can't be In the SF. I would like to become a SF candidate in a future, but I don't have the scores to enter. I focus my self in the asvab time limit that answering the answer. So, you need soldiers in the SF, but you have plenty of soldiers in the system healthy and strong, well educated, that can't enter just because the scores. That doesn't make any sense.
Every school you go to, everything you volunteer for, are filters. Especially the volunteering part. It filters out those who can't or wont up their game. At the end, look around at who you are with. Volunteers, trained, experienced... Who would you better want to cover your back? As you would expect to cover theirs. That's a good feeling.
Honest question. These guys seem VERY well rounded for any operation but yet why do SEALs get more attention and described to be better fit in any environment compared to them? Both units are same tier and without a doubt DEADLY
SF operates in the same conditions SEALs do. But its just a matter of primary mission. Also, not all SF soldiers are dive qualified. Thats a separate school with another selection type process within SF. As for how often SF operates in the water, that all is classified info and also they are the quiet professionals. They dont broadcast that. All special ops forces are pretty discreet but SEALs just get more screen time and everybody thinks they are the toughest and what not which is why they are put on such a high pedestal. Its just that the primary missions are differet. SF is primarily unconventional warfare and guerilla warfare where SEALs are more direct raids and attack and shit like that. There is overlap and they do work together though. SF does do direct action stuff as well, just not their main role.
To answer your question: Recruiting. The Navy had to play "catch up" to the Army. But kids want to be Rambo. Not aqua-man. So the Navy had to work with media in order to boost recruiting.
If you lose your map and compass SF man, you can always go to Ranger Rons' Land Nav app for mobile phones on the Google play store and download one of his apps. They guide you with range and direction to the target be they a FOB, OP, Rally Point, FO position, FPF position, or whatever. They work GREAT!
MILITARY ACCESSIONS VITAL TO THE NATIONAL INTEREST (MAVNI). You may have to research a bit more, but MAVNI only recruits from green card holders currently within the US and looking to gain citizenship.
First: you need to learn to speak completely fluent English, read, write, listen, and become articulate. Second: You have to become a U.S. Citizen, no if and's or but's.
75th Ranger Regiment is the only spec ops Ranger Regiment. Green Berets, Navy Seals, Delta, Psyop(MISO), Civil Affairs, etc are also Spec Ops under SOCOM. Green Berets are the only unit labeled as Special Forces, and actually earn orders to wear the Special Forces tab (which we affectionatley call The Long Tab). SEALs earn a trident. I'm considering both myself. Neither one is really "better" they're just different and it comes down to what you like. Rangers-high intensity direct action, heavy fighting, not a lot of freedom, always have a "go go go fuck the Taliban" type attitude. Basically, they're really aggressive. Army SF-more freedom (meaning long hair, beards etc), more laid back, small teams, everyone has a say. They typically do foreign internal defense, which means you'll be teaching others how to wage war. Delta/The Unit-recruits from Rangers and SF. Mix of both basically, they were based around the British SAS, lots of high speed very dangerous counter terrorism stuff Personally I'm leaning towards Rangers but I'll probably be forced to go to SFAS since I'm going National Guard to pay for college and 18x is the only active duty contract available to prior service applicants. Hope I helped
I second that-a lot of Rangers go SF to get more freedom so you can go Rangers then SF. But just because you can doesn't mean RASP is a cakewalk and no SOF unit, Rangers included, like having a guy who just sees the unit as a stepping stone. In all those types of jobs you're either 110% committed to it or you're going to fall behind. So basically- you can go Rangers then SF but don't set that goal. I'd go Rangers (but of course I'm biased) and give it your all and if you feel the need for more freedom or a different style of doing things then try for SF. The Rangers are essential the Army's version of the SEALs but more aggressive and less movies about them. There not just a stepping stone to SF, remember that.
Rangers aren't just a stepping stone to SF. No unit is going to want someone who's only there because he thinks it'll be easy to get into the Rangers then just leaves.
If you want action and firefights and do it when your 18 and get SOF assaulting experience go Rangers but if you want to be a unconventional warrior the Q course is two years so you pick personally I want to earn my Tan beret and ranger scroll first and then go green beret and and get my chance to go to CAG
I watched it. And I was in SF in Vietnam. According to your comment I wouldn't qualify? I have no problem with anyone interested in Special Ops, gathering good and bad intel relating to it. Sort out what's real or BS.
@@CandC68 Well obviously I didn't mean you, brother. I meant the young guys checking this out. I went to an SF Recruiting brief when I was in Germany & it was really informative. With green berets I believe the age limit is 36 and cannot be older. You can either join by becoming an active duty or National Coast Guard soldier WITH the minimum rank of E3. There's other qualifications that are needed while you are in the military in which you can search on the goarmy website for special forces. I don't have much credibility other than the fact that I have searched this up myself for research, its qualifications and that I am definitely willing to join in the future. Don't know if you have much time depending how long you have to be in the somewhere in the army, but if you can't, 75th Ranger Regiment is possibly the next best thing going out in the field.
I keep getting military recruitment videos recommended to me, could be because im already suicidal and a loner and mostly i don't have a lot if fear, but im not sure im strong enough and if i got the stamina and emotional stability to join the military that's the problem, i also don't think i would be accepted into any military if i decided to join.
GUESTKID9976 VIDEOS your self- doubt IS fear...An attitude like you have, most likely wouldn't pass the psych eval. to be accepted. A change in your attitude (especially toward yourself) would be a good place to start. Believe in yourself, and you'll be surprised what you are capable of.
hey so i may be in the wrong place to ask this but recently i had back surgery where they put titanium rods in my back and its always been a dream of mine since i was a kid to join the military does anyone on here know if i would still be eligible to join on my 18th birthday
If you have surgery scars that you cant explain away as something else, you're probably screwed. The army doesn't actually pull your medical records. They only know what you tell them. I have gone through training and been in units with people who have hidden a lot of things including one guy who SOMEHOW hid the fact that he has asthma.
An 80 pound ruck bouncing on your back for 40 miles could easily leave you paralyzed or in serious pain for life. Don't be foolish. Listen to your back surgeon before you do something that haunts you and destroys your life.
Hey guys. I'm a freshmen in highschool and I'm on the road to finding my life purpose. I play baseball and I love the sport because it takes physical skills and mental skills. I love guns and I go shooting with my dad on occasions. I would really love a job that is active and takes physical skill and mental skill. So if someone could answer some of these questions it would be much appreciated. How do you become a special forces officer? How much money do they make? What exactly do they do? How do I know if I have what it takes to be in special forces? Thanks for reading this have a nice day!
***** thank you for responding I appreciate it, but I've been looking and I think the best route for me is going to the air force academy to be a spce operations officer or a spec ops officer I haven't decided that yet.
In order to become a special forces officer, you must first become an Army officer. This means doing well in high school in order to get into college. Find a good ROTC program or, if you're really into military life, get into the West Point Military Academy. That is the easy part. From there, you must do everything to the up most perfection. APFT must be the easiest thing to max out. Strong leadership is a must. Strong academics is a must. Basically, you're trying to get the highest recommendations from your cadre in order to make life a bit easier for.. Commissioning. This is pretty much where this video picks up. Ranger school, airborne, blah blah blah, selection program, blah blah blah, ???, Special Forces selection, more ???, then FINALLY you'll be a Special Forces Officer :)
As for 'how do you know you're cut out for Spec Ops'? Are you consistently striving to be the best at whatever you are currently doing? If you want to lead the best soldiers the nation has to offer, you also have to be one of the best. This can be practiced way down in high school. Strive for perfection. If you fail, that's okay, learn and grow from it. Let me know if you have any other questions! As for how I know all of this? I was an ROTC cadet. Then I learned that Army life was not for me :)
Thank you for responding! I talked with my parents about it and I've decided to try and get into the Air Force Academy and from there go straight to the army as an officer. Even if I don't make it in the Air Force Academy, I will be well prepared for a university.

Right now I am 14 and really look forward to college and joining the military but I also understand it is not a joke and not a game. No respawn this time. But I am divided on whether I should join the Army or the Air Force. If I join the Army I plan on go for SF. Yes ik that It's alot of work but I don't think it's so much body (while that is alot) but more so the will power and drive to pass. But I have always had a deep Intrest is astronomy and aerospace. I know there are military astronauts but do they get to go to the ISS? Which branch is better. (Of course everyone has their own opinions on this view based on their experiences) Also please don't make a big flame war over it. I just need help deciding and I thought that it would be best to ask people of the military themselves. Thanks!
X-Traterrestrial\\Gaming/// 58 Personally I would choose Army Special Forces. Now that is just me but you have to choose what you want. Don't listen to what other people want, do what you want to do. Army SF is hard and tough as nails from what I have heard but you choose what you want and strive to be the best you can be at your task. Good luck to you on any path you take.
Slow down. You are still very young. And your interests will change as you get older. So, just focus on making yourself better every day in whatever you do. And forgive yourself when you mess up sometimes - but keep striving forward. After a year or two in college the picture will get a lot clearer for you and you'll know what to do.
I need some insight here, just turned 21. Looking into law enforcement. But also think about joining a lot. If I join army, Air Force, navy, marines I definitely want to do SF type work. I'd like to really challenge myself and be the best I can while using the skills of the team as a whole to accomplish the goal. Now if I go to recruiter I don't want a run a round like last time I went to meps but declined the contract given. I want a guaranteed, fastest way possible to enter special forces, be it rangers, PJ, SEALs, marine raiders or recon. Does anyone have insight or advice on which would be best, fastest route ( If Nothing Goes Wrong ) for me? I have a clean background, no bad medical, no weird shit. I'm pretty normal. And yes I'd very much like the fighting (shooting at bad guys aspect) I understand that's not all it is in SF but anything that can get to the units that has the most action would be great. Appreciate everything guys, thanks.
They are ALL very very challenging. And team oriented. But if it's heavy fighting action you are looking for - Rangers will give you more than your heart desires.
Yes. But your odds of making the cut are very slim if you don't have at least a couple of years of experience. Nobody wins a Heavyweight Boxing Title the first time they step in the ring.

CandC68 The CIA would deny you ever even existed
Where do you think SAD/CIA operators come from? (Most are former team guys & girls)

This video was literally the motivation I was lacking from the beginning. This video gave me a hard on on what the definition of Green Beret is. I'm not going to say that it's better than the Navy Seals but I sure am going to say that they're extremely close.

You're already ahead of the game.
Youd be a shoe-in!
Spec tator I'm not sure they let you into SF if you aren't a natural born citizen. May be mistaken though. Definitely worth some research.
We do come through allot

How often does SF operate in water and maritime missions compared to SEALs?
To answer your question:
Recruiting.

Question so green berets and rangers are special forces or is their just special forces.
Special Forces is nicknamed the Green Berets. Rangers and Special Forces are both Special Ops.
I'm wanting to join the army and eventually do rangers or green beret, opinions on which is better?
I'm considering both myself. Neither one is really "better" they're just different and it comes down to what you like.
Rangers-high intensity direct action, heavy fighting, not a lot of freedom, always have a "go go go fuck the Taliban" type attitude. Basically, they're really aggressive.
Army SF-more freedom (meaning long hair, beards etc), more laid back, small teams, everyone has a say. They typically do foreign internal defense, which means you'll be teaching others how to wage war.
Delta/The Unit-recruits from Rangers and SF. Mix of both basically, they were based around the British SAS, lots of high speed very dangerous counter terrorism stuff
Personally I'm leaning towards Rangers but I'll probably be forced to go to SFAS since I'm going National Guard to pay for college and 18x is the only active duty contract available to prior service applicants.
Hope I helped
You can go ranger then go SF I believe, so you can do both
I second that-a lot of Rangers go SF to get more freedom so you can go Rangers then SF.

@@CandC68 Well obviously I didn't mean you, brother. I meant the young guys checking this out.
I went to an SF Recruiting brief when I was in Germany & it was really informative. Seems like knowing another language helps a lot, along with having your craft wired super-tight, along with a go-getter attitude. I've heard stories about the Q-Course & it sounded like you needed excellent leadership skills (bordering on superhuman) or you weren't going to make it. I never tried because of my fear of possibly getting into a captain's face if a task wasn't done properly during selection (I saw on video how everyone is a roster number with no rank, and I'm terrified of feeling the wrath of the officer corps). Worked with SF a few times, though. I was IN AWE of them.

In training, volunteer, work as hard as you can. Where ever you go, look around. Find good attitudes, and join them. What ever role you find yourself in, do your best. so are USAF spec ops but they have to go through combat dive...it's a requirement in their pipepline.
All I was thinking was that if these guys are supposed to be the best it makes sense to be trained in all environments.
So few of our missions are around water that there is no need for all our personnel to do dive qualified. Army SF only has one dive ODA per company plenty to get the job done. Also PJs and CCTs dive because they deploy with the SEALs and our dive ODAs so the need to be at that standard.

If you have surgery scars that you cant explain away as something else, you're probably screwed. The army doesn't actually pull your medical records. They only know what you tell them. I have gone through training and been in units with people who have hidden a lot of things including one guy who SOMEHOW hid the fact that he has asthma.

thank you for responding I appreciate it, but I've been looking and I think the best route for me is going to the air force academy to be a spce operations officer or a spec ops officer I haven't decided that yet.

Depends on what you like more. Would you rather be an Astronaut or a Special Forces Officer?
