Just an opinion but one thing i believe why is because we were nomads and move alot depending on geographical and agriculture reasons. We believe we don't need a permanent home, so on and on we hmong just got lazy and lack the will to ever really built a proper home. So after generations their children follow them their grand children follow them and now it has became a "habit" and now that religion has been applied it is hard to un-do it. We hmong have an old saying that "grandma did it, grandpa did it" so we tend to implement that into our livelihood. Even though it wasn't religious before it has been passed down for generation because someone wants to keep that alive in the family tree so now it becames part of their religion. Each hmong branch or family pool is different from others. Now that years gone by we believe that we must follow that way or we will dishonor our ancestors and make them mad. We are afraid of karma and curse so we continue to follow that very belief. Don't get me wrong there are things we must follow and abide by but some I believe we can do without. We hmong are just very family oriented.
