Hi! Beneficial bacteria and fungi are able to grow that's why we use molasses regularly...so if you use only a few grams (2 or 3g) that you crushed into a powder and dip the tap root with it would be enough (you will get the same results since it will grow with the roots anyway...and you are sure to get a great start...it won't hurt roots at all!)
And many growers prooved that 24/0 is nonsense...even for autos...20/4 is the best since there's no difference (and if you use IR 15mn before lights off and 15mn after you will get even more as it helps plants to induce sleep faster...
It could make a few nice episodes...and save you money!

given fungi self replicate, I suspect you don't need 35g of that... do us a side by side test once you get a baseline soil mix, now that you got away from that cheap wal stuff.

@@corallaroc2946 heyo, i know all the models, sadly :D. its a SF4000. You can check it, regardless from that bloom/grow lights suck and are rare. There are a few only flowering LEDs, but even them, not worthy. You can rather by deepred light bars straight and combine them with your fullspectrum, everything else i consider a money and enerygwaste. Hope that helps+bit useful extra. If you looking for top lights check Viparspectra XS1500pro for 60x60 tents or for bigger ones Marshydro FCE4800 or Viparspectra KS(forgot the model). Very pricy but top lights are from HLG. Very cheap lights but still banging are from FISSION. And never buy less than 150 Watts, you wont be happy with it on the long run

With organic soil, you want to moisten the mix so it doesn't get hydrophobic.
The reason it gets dry and repels water is the microbes make a hard layer to help block in moisture.
    So water slow then fast.

I am very glad that you finally switched to the good side of the Force. You should use an irrigation system with a Living Soil because it must always remain moist and not moist, dry, moist dry. Making a compost tea every 2 weeks will save any microbiome that has become too dry. The best system is the Blumat System and you should use Cover Crops from various types of clover, mustard, oil radish etc. . Mulching prevents drying out and when you mow the Cover Crops you can leave them in the pot and the earthworms will turn them into nutrients for the plant. I got some extra worms from a worm farm, which constantly provide nutrients for the plant and loosen up the soil. It is best if you do not grow in flower pots but in beds with 250 L of Living Soil. Predatory mites help against the fungus gnats, then you don't see so much on the yellow boards anymore . Greets from Germany

To prevent bugs you can bake your soil or put it in a bag and sterilize it like you would for shrooms... also I like the p.h. at a 6.0. It helps free up more of the nutrients in the soil and keep from getting root lock. Also you can add 1 drop of dawn dish soap to your water to break the surface tension and the water will go deeper. Also while you may be saving water by growing in the ceramic pot... if you get a plastic planter and punch a bunch of holes in it with a tray under it you'll get more air to the roots and almost double your yield...👍

yeah, I learned this lesson the hard way with organic soils especially when you build it from scratch you have to pre wet and mix the soil as you go, or it will remain hydrophobic. what I do is fill half the container with soil then mix with water with my hands until it's pretty wet then fill it up the rest of the way and do the same thing again. hope this helps : ]

With light airy soil i always completely flush it once a week with 2/3 gallons. Of cousre you need a tray that'll handle the run off. No good if soil stays dry after watering. My pots are elevated from tray and i dump tray continuously throughout the day untill no more is in tray. I know ppl will say im losing nutrients by doing that but i can supplement as needed with a top coat.

  • @wickittiewhaat2495

Please look into the different ways water interacts with aggregate. Due to surface tensions there are different types of water in the “ground”. Free, available and unavailable water. Also the beneficial bacteria in the soil need water to survive and thrive, so keeping things moist means things are alive. Another important thing to remember is nutrient uptake only happens for 15min after the root zone drops in temp from watering. Thanks for sharing 🤘

If you cover the soil in straw it will help you mantain moisture levels. A mulch layer in living soil is a game changer. You can top dress with out the amendments drying out and halting the decomp process.everything becomes available quicker, and all your becificial microbs from the worm casting and micoryza dont die from drying out.

The difference in growing medium is really interesting! I grow in BioBizz All-Mix in similar sized pots and was quite shocked how much water you give your plants. My growing medium could have never taken that much water.
But your plants almost always seemed super healthy so i didn't doubt your experience with your setup as you obviously knew what you were doing.
I watered my plants in bloom with 2 liters every 2 days and they are as healthy as your plants in non-organic medium.
It really comes down to your plants, temperature, humidity and growing medium by trial and error.
I tried to mimick your LST technique and had great results. Thank you so much for teaching this!

thats the problem when you growing from seeds in ""dry soil",
its better to start with good measure moistue in the soil and 1-4 times every day you making a quick watering only for the top 1+ cm of your soil, i have a thin 30-35cm long amazon moisture measure tool, and it works quiet well, so,,, every day i check the moisture and also i give little watering and i have the best moisture level **every day**

    • @curiousbystander9193

risky cause you can too easily over saturate the soil and slow development in early life, and autos hate that....better start with properly hydrates entire soil (30l in this case in the video), then water gentle once a week from the top ith a sprayer and once a week from the bottom by soaking in a pan for 1 minute. my experience, keep the top from getting bone dry with a sprayer and water from the bottom. Different methods work, but I do know for sure, your soil likes to breath.

Ive had the hydrophobic issue also. . The best way ive found to get it started is to add couple gallons of soil at a time and spray with pump sprayer then take ur hands and work it all together to distribute the moist soil evenly. . Once thats good to go then add some more and spray a lil more and so on until ur done then add ur worm castings and ur fertilizer and mix it one last time. . The ideal moisture content is when u can grab a handfull squeeze it a lil but and it hold together or if u get a couple drops of water out thats fine too.. then u want to maintain that moisture content bcus ur microbial life must have water/moisture to move around and to survive in.. if it drys out real bad there goes all ur microbes and if u dnt have them and if theyre gona ur fertilizer doesnt get broke down small enough for ur roots to consume it and then u end up with airy buds thats not so good.. hope this helps grow bro

In living organic soil you want to maintain a consistent moisture level so the microbes can do their job. I never have any dry back days! Specially in the top few inches of soil (the rhizosphere). This is where the microbes and fungi colonize.

You should look for other growers videos...my autos outdoor in 18L plastic pots are 4 times bigger...and I use 10 year old soil with only natural amendments and fermented plants juices I make myself! 24 hours of light is a complete waste of energy plants need to sleep to be healthy...
If you want to water your plant easily you just need to weight with your muscles the pot when it's full of water...it must be heavy...print this sensation in your muscles memory and you will know by the weight if you need to water it's easy!(but you have to keep in mind that the plant weight add to with time!)
In fact autos are harder to grow than photos fems...you can't make a mistake on an auto and it's pretty easy to make some even for an experienced grower and I do it since 1997! If I was in Germany I would go with fast flowering plants since the weather conditions allows it outdoor...but indoor autos are useless...who can't switch from 18/6 to 12/12 🙄...and there's a world between autos taste and effects and photos...and I don't even talk about dry weight which is night and day!😉

In case of drying out to much, the organisms die and need days to weeks to recover. Watering each or other day is really recommended or using something like Blumat for easy solution.

Water on leaves CAN burn them. This applies to many plants.
Your soil appears to contain lots of coco coir, which is dried and often compacted into bricks when transported.
It has to be broken apart and given a little time to absorb moisture.
If this is what's happening, I suggest trying to add some water to your living soil next time and mix it around to try and break it up beforehand.
    Nice video, good luck.

Mixing the Living soil with 30% coco will make it absorb more water quicker. If you moisten the surface with a spray bottle until you see its wet you can water slowly. I use a 0.5litre Water bottle with holes in the cap. This takes about an hour to water 5 litres but no runoff guaranteed

I smirk at the exact measuring of the water. People seem to make a science out of growing their stuff. If the water doesnt seep in well, wet the surface with a water sprayer and then water. You can poke channels in the earth through which the water can run down through and dissipate into the earth on the way down. If your pots have holes in the bottom, like yours do, you cant overwater your plants. Just make sure, the plant doesnt sit in the puddle running out the bottom. Empty the little tray the pot sits on.
It was helpful to see the training. Thanks for sharing.

Hey basement magician, the fact that water droplets can burn your leaves is definitely NOT a myth. I had it happen on my first grow and then once on my second because I missed a spot. Both leaves had yellow marks exactly under where the droplets were.

    • @Basementganja
      @Basementganja  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

I've always tried to remove any water droplets on my leaves. A lot of people were saying that it is a myth, so I was really just apologizing for saying things that I don't know as 100% fact. I don't like the idea of spreading wives tales, or bro science.
It's possible that those people who were saying it's a myth, had only heard about it and haven't learned it from experience.. And hence, the circle of bro-science continues..

Is it ironic??? I get more weight outdoor with cheap autos in 18L pots...🙄! 24 hours of lights...for this result...plants need to rest as us...and he put too much food for an auto...and he don't know how to weight a pot when it's saturated with water with his hands to be able to know when to water and it's basics 101...no dry period...just go on rollitup you won't be disappointed and you will learn real things!
And who grow autos indoor under 24h of light in 27L pots (7 gallon!)...to get less than 50g...if you get under 1gpw under LEDs who got Samsung lm301h EVO diodes there's a huge problem somewhere...I pull 1.7/1.8gpw on average from seeds living soil (that I built not bought in 1 bag with worms in it!)natural amendments and compost teas...nothing synthetic and/or chemical and no pesticides (yes a mix of garlic grey tobacco basil hot pepper vegetal oil and black soap + a hint of isopropyl alcohol)
Have a lifted one and lots of good vibes from France growers family

Once you let any kind of soil medium fully dry out for too long, it can go hydrophobic and once hydrophobic it can be incredibly difficult to get your medium to take up water again. Have you tried a slightly deeper cache tray and allowing the medium to drink from the bottom? that has usually worked for me to save a variety of hydrophobic soil mediums.
Best of luck to you on future living soil grows.

From my experience, I haven't noticed any extending of veg time from topping. It can be hard to make comparisons with autoflowers, since every seed is a phenotype gamble. I always try to do something a little bit different from the previous grow, to keep things interesting. I'm happy as long as I am forming an efficient canopy. A few of my largest yielding plants were not topped.

When you have that dry soil problem you can do two things. First water normally and let the runoff where it ends up but put a plastic bag around the pot so no air escapes. After an hour take it off and check soil. If still dry repeat this over and over until you're soil is holding moisture again. Another trick would be don't water normally but get a few sponges and just lay them on top of the soil soaked with water and bag 1 hour on one hour off until better. Instead of waiting three days to water only wait 2, cut your waiting time by 30%. All potting soil acts like this if you aren't watering enough.
