I'm sure he's much more mature in season 3 because in season 1 he was 14, and in season 3 he was 16. Not to mention everything he went through gave him a much more angled perspective in life and the experiences he dealt with shaped him to be more adult-like.

That Varian is drinking Beer isn't weird if you think about it. He was 14 in the first season so in the third season he is 16. In Germany (where the fairytale came from) its legal to drink beer and wine alone at that age. He even would have been allowed to drink beer at 14 if his father was present (but you know).

Season 3 really did make Varian more mature, which was really nice comparing with Season 1 Varian. Really interesting character development ✨✨
I like variant too but in the 3rd season hes more ready to make up for his mistakes and I'm happy and I'm proud of him and I really love his character in the 3rd season not the 1st that in the 3rd in the 1st one he was character assassined

Y'know technically, Varian was 14 at the start of the show which would make him 16 in this episode. In Germany, where Tangled is set, a 16 year old can buy an alcoholic beverage with less than 1.2% alcohol. And that's just today, the first legal drinking age was introduced in 1839 in Wisconsin, and this episode is set in 1836. So case in point Varian's in the clear.

I'm sure all Varian fans will agree with me on this one Varian and the Seven Kingdoms needs to happen because it's shown in the very beginning of this video is that the people of Corona still don't trust Varian after what he did and for him to go out on his own adventure break out of his shell and maybe even redeem himself and get away from people who don't trust would be the best thing for his story arc
Furthermore, Varian fans (including myself) get more Varian content.

i wish, but unfortunately it wont ever happen unless varian isnt in it. disney said they didnt want to do a spinoff of a spinoff, and refuses to do a spinoff of a disney princess movie with the side character being the main character in the spinoff. (idk if that makes sense)
It was actually really normal for (young) people to drink alcoholic drinks in the time Rapunzel is set. Clean water was hard to get by and expensive. Alcohol was cheep and safe to drink. Milk was common too for the real young people. But yeah, time wise Varian could definitely be drinking a warm beer without it being odd to the people around him

In Germany, it’s legal for 14 year olds to drink fermented alcohol (ex. beer, wine) as long as it’s in public and they’re with an adult who consents to them consuming it, so it’s technically legal that Varian drank it
Current or past regulations? I doubt in the past people really thought about the age limit for drinking beer

Its actually set in a fictional Germany- Ariana knows French because it’s a neighbouring country to Germany and she was probably a French princess/duchess

I mean there is a lot of German aspects in the show, I remember shorty saying gesundheit to Rapunzel, but the inspiration for the kingdom of corona came from Mont-Saint-Michel in France, and the neighbouring fictional kingdom of Equis seems to be French. So lots of real life inspirations too

Varian is 16 in season 3, you can legally drink in Germany with a parents permission when you’re 14 and without a parents permission at 16 for beer and wine, and can legally drink liquor at 18. When my dad was in highschool they had a foreign exchange student at his school who told him that a lot of times parents would send their kids with a bottle of wine to party's because wine takes longer to drink and they might not go to liquor. Idk what drinking laws in 1800's Germany we're like (probably non existent) but Disney probably just went with the modern laws to avoid controversy. So yeah if Varian was doing this in the present time, he would be fine.

@@Evilevilaccount No, he's 16. He is confirmed to be 14 in season 1, season 2 is the span of a whole year, season 1 is likely half a year. Therefore, if Varian is considered to be 14 in the beginning he is either 16 or turned 16 throughout season 3.

@@rebeccarobin4062 In season 2, it was established that the group had been traveling for _at least_ a year. Varian was 14 in season 1, so he is _at least_ 15 (most likely, 16) around season 3.
Also, if you compare his character designs from season 1 to season 3, they _did_ change slightly to make him appear more proportionate and older.

That was alcohol, it's confirmed even because of the place where he was drinking but also by the creator.
I understand if people want to think of him as the sweet innocent baby of before but sometime, I'm not saying always, just sometimes, it would be nice if he was treated like the age he is now and for how he reasons.
He doesn't have a kid mentality anymore so sometime it would be nice to see people treat him with his real age.

He's right, in germany the teenagers can buy and drink beer at 16 years legally and other alcohol at 18. In the middle ages even little kids drank beer because it was cleaner than water and it didn't have a lot alcohol in it. But even if there was more alcohol in it, they wouldn't know since they found it out in the end of the middle ages.

I have no idea when the show takes place, but with the spelling and advancements they have in the show id say its about the 1800's? (Hinting at this is the way they spelled shop, Shoppe. And the fact they were suprised to find out about hot air balloons) Maybe. Children at the time drank alot, I think even they would be given vodka or somthing to help get through sicknesses which then would lead to alcohol poisoning. Im not 100% sure though. Plus he IS 14/15 years old, in Germany 16 year olds (correct me if im wrong) can drink.
