Hello... Dots on popsicle represents hydrogen bonds between nitrogen bases... adenine and thymine binds with two hydrogen bonds.... Guanine and cytosine with three bonds.... Different color beads on sides represent pentose sugar and phosphate group attached to Nitrogen base. Pink is to represent pentose sugar and blue represent phosphate group. Still if you have any queries please feel free to ask me😊👍...
@@DKBiosolutions Hi, I just want to ask, based on your explanation of the color coding, are the yellow beads in the middle the phosphate group? If so, then what are the blue beads attached to the pentose sugar? Thank you! (Im just a little bit confused)
Thank you so much for asking me this question... It was my mistake... Just corrected.... Yellow in the middle are just mainten distance between two popsicle... Blue one's are the phosphate groups... Sorry for your confusion...
what does the yellow, magenta/pink and purple beads represent in the third example? also do you know what would be considered, the back bone molecule on the third
@@DKBiosolutions Thank you for the quick response, but what materials do you suggest for me to complete the model, and can you make a video about this?
We have used a bicycle spoke to arrange the popsicle sticks together... Also you can see beads in between them to create space between each popsicle stick....
If you are asking about first DNA model... The answer is= wire on each side was of 1.5 feet means 2 wires of 1.5 feet , middle 18 wires were of 10 cm each... Then about 19 pink and 19 yellow beads on each side. Then on each 10 cm wire you can see the six beads... So 18 wires X 6 beads = 106 beads of different colours.
The major and minor grooves are opposite each other, and each runs continuously along the entire length of the DNA molecule. They arise from the antiparallel arrangement of the two backbone strands. Note that the grooves are actual structural features of the molecule, not consequences of the way it is drawn. The grooves are important in the attachment of DNA Binding Proteins involved in replication and trascription.
In that model you can see one major grove and 2 minor grove... You should read about it before labeling it... Its also depends on how you rotate it while making...

Hello John... I apologise for your inconvenience. Actually I haven't thought about it, measurements. But what you can do is try to cut equal length of the wire (two pieces), long enough to show 20 to 25 nitrogen basepairs. And to make basepairs cut wire according to the size of your straw pieces. John if it doesn't help you, let me know. Will measure the length of wires and tell you in the evening... 😊👍
Thank you, your explanation was very helpful, i really appreciate you taking time out of your day to clear this up, so you don't have to do measurements, I've already cut them to equal lengths and everything else went really good too, thank you again and have a good rest of your day

In the FIRST MODEL, what are the orange a green straw pieces representing? And what do the different color beads on side represent? (Im not talking about the base pair beads)
Hello Catherine...
Orange and Green straws are just to show hydrogen bonds between nucleic acids. It should be of one color but just to make it more colorful I have used them. Different color beads on sides represent pentose sugar and phosphate group attached to Nitrogen base. Pink is to represent pentose sugar and yellow to phosphate group.
Still if you have any queries please feel free to ask me😊👍...
Hey Catherine...
Again I am replying to your question because I found it very relevant and great. After reading your question, I think that you have a very good knowledge of DNA. Please make the necessary modifications in the model while making it, and if possible, send me the photograph on my email address given in the ABOUT channel page. I really would like to see your DNA model... 😊
