The roles for women have been reduced here. Understandibly genre from a certain time period, that time period doesn't have to be then. It started better, there was a woman in a orange zip up, but then it had a masculine trend. What many audiences want to see today is a more ballaced view of gender roles. This one prescribes the older modality, not the current. I get the funny scifi feeling, and the idea that operations of some importance are being considered aboard the facility. Also there don't seem to be civilians other than the women in white dresses. In today's world, there are more women scientists than engineers. We don't know what the future will bring, but there isn't any reason to believe that change is not inevitable.

Actually, the time period DOES have to be then, Forbidden Planet was released in 1956. The same year as Kubrick's The Killing and 13 years before 2001: A Space Odyssey. This is look, these are the gender roles. Enjoy the images, no need to pontificate.

@@leeroderick I understand how the criteria of these is made, I'm just saying how they appear remains ambiguous relative to the AI merger of these concepts being a 21st ce addition to visual litteracy.

Here is a big clue…FB was made in 1956! There were no gender equality based roles for women at the time. The creator of this superb video is not going to change it’s content for that reason alone just to appeal to the PC-minded woke millennial brigade! This is done to reflect the sexist attitudes of the past. Why don’t you just enjoy this retro SF tribute to FB and the director of my all-time favourite movie 2001: A Space Odyssey - which does not have prominent female characters with the exception of a Russian scientist - for what it is?
