You mean like that weird joker/jester/clown move in Cherry Bomb? Because agreed. But I think Tony Testa was the one who did the choreo for that one (he also did Firetruck and Exo’s Wolf so).
SM is always forward in fashion, SHINee and Exo especially are always wearing styles at least 1 year before they become a trend (e.g choker's, shirts with turtlenecks underneath, dress shirts half tucked in). That's how they make their groups stand out, and its working with NCT 127 who got a article wrote by vogue about their styling.
At least we can say they still look handsome. NCT 127 is a true visual group if they look handsome in those outfits imagine how they will look with good styling.

TBH I honestly really like all of their outfits. They're super unique, and obviously like stage outfits are supposed to be extravagant and crazy, so it makes them seem more like pop stars and untouchable almost. I feel like this is a more modern version of the early 2000s - 2010s of that edgy look, like 2NE1 or 4Minute or F(x) and even SHINee too. They jus look super awesome to me. I couldn't imagine it any other way.
And maybe the stylists already know if they're put in causal clothes, they will rock us out of this universe, so they gotta down their beauty a little bit.
