I really like being treated like an adult and allowed to fill in some of the spaces with my own imagination, as opposed to being force-fed the same old tropes. You should be making movies, not the current set of filmmakers making product, not art. I will do you one more solid. Read anything, anything at all by Jack Vance. Eric Law Anderson- this was a visual joy for mind and heart and spirit! The delicate wisps of creation folding through the incredibly subtly shadowed images of cranes and scaffolding and construction, blue prints made to bring up memory of old, old navigation maps of the world 🌎- every scene brought a new delight! I kept pausing and greedily poring over your gentle, harmonic contradictions, symbols, and scientific references everywhere that were just beautiful in their whimsy and fine tuning to the story! Hey, people...instead of bitching about Creationism vs Evolutionism vs Intelligent Design, why don't we just accept this for what it is...a cute SF film that pays homage to all three. Science can't explain everything yet, and neither can religion, but that does not mean that one is right and the other is wrong....so why don't we just forget about it, and try to teach each other with tolerance and compassion?

    • @FUSHICHOorKURAYAMI
      @FUSHICHOorKURAYAMI 6 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Science and Religion go hand in hand. If people had minds open enough to see that....We'd transcend the limits of time, space and all wonders of the universe. But people will find that out when they die. Ive died twice and remember everything. Things are not as Black and White and LIMITED as Humans Limited Minds try to make them out to be. There is.....So Much MORE Out there than you can even HOPE To understand. And the beauty of it all is that Thats OK. The human mind will NEVER fully understand the universe and all its wonders, but still long as we strive forward....One day well touch the Face of Eternity. I wonder what beings we will evolve into then? Will we become Angels? Will we become Pure Energy? Will we become our fantasy ideas of Aliens? Haha. I cant say. But what we become if only we can evolve past the trivial forms we have now....Will be something far greater. Maybe our Earth in this universe will make it. But if not there are others who will take up the torch and try where we faltered. Succeed where we failed. Move forward where we allowed foolish gripes and differences to hold us back. There will be a human race that transcends all of this....I should hope to meet them one night bathed in the glow of moonlight, and watch them go on to dance amongst the stars.

In so doing, physical mass is also emitted into nearby low mass space. The theory was described in a short story by Isaac Asimov called "The Last Question". I think most people missed the light-hearted point of this. Lufo is an artist at heart, but he is generally board by the life that has been dictated to him as, in sorts, an assembly line worker... doing the same thing day in and day out. So he attempts to inject a little of his creativity in the regimental work that he has to do... much to the chagrin of his boss (and possible relative). So, to not be interrupted, he goes off on his own to create the mural that he blueprinted earlier (which turns out to be the face of the moon). But, upon completion, he realizes that nobody is going to ever see his masterpiece. Disappointed he heads back to the pack, but, on the way, with the help of his blueprint paper/computer, he realizes that the proper placement of his masterpiece next to another planet (Earth) will create life and, ultimately, an audience for artistic work. So he does just that, again, much to the exasperation of his boss. As he looks back at what he's accomplished, he glows with pride, so much so that this glow could be interpreted as a halo... ergo, the angel that helped create life on Earth. Her greatest evolutionary step is when the first fish stepped onto dry land. And what was the first thing it saw? Lufo's masterpiece! Since then we've been so enthralled by this "work of art" that we created technology exclusively designed to visit it. An artist's ultimate acknowledgement. Conclusion: The more strongly an artist feels about his creative work, the more he will move mountains, or, in this case, planets to bring his work to and for the masses so all can appreciate and enjoy. (Also, a subtext moral to this story: Don’t let supposed authorities stifle your passion, as it could amount to more than you might have ever imagined.)

      @@ericlawanderson I'm very thankful of your response. I didn't expect to get an exact tally, but base on what you relayed, it gives me an idea of which I'm not surprised. From my childhood to this day in every movie that I view, I haven't watched really it until I've sat through the very last credit, even though I'm, and usually am, that last person in the theater. I do this for two reasons. I recognize deeply trenched people and learn things I wouldn't have otherwise, AND, even more so, I have to pay homage to the inordinate amount of work that goes into these projects. Now days, even more so, the standard audience takes the making of movies for granted, especially those which includes superb CGI such as yours. Now I think that's partially due to the sheer amount of content that's being turned out these days. With all that being said, it can be quite ominous to be a stand out in this ubiquitous market, but you did achieve that without question. I compliment you on your stick-to-it-ness and a job well done. But that pretty much goes without saying based on all the awards you've received. It's a great idea and you implemented it well!

    I first came across this gem years ago - and enjoyed it immensely. I found it again a couple times in the years that followed and enjoyed it again, each time. Like the Disney ride, "It's a Small World" (which is best seen with a small child, tho you then have to go again and again and again...), there's something new to see with each viewing.
    I thought about it again a few days ago and the quixotically quirky spirit threaded through the entirety of the 16:38 minutes. I stumbled across it again a few minutes ago, queued it up, and listened as I added some extremely deserving praise for this small treasure. Hollywood is in an absolute panic right now. People are making better movies outside of the major studios than inside. Just recently, a fan-based Star Trek movie was made that was so good the franchise owners decided to sue the fans that made them . Ha-ha! Imagine that - suing your own fan-base! That means that the stakeholders in the big corporations are terrified of losing their grip on making movies. As far as I'm concerned, Hollyweird-- goodbye, and thanks for the fish!

      @@climbtheladder9440 what surprises most people about a great idea is how simple the idea was to begin with, sometimes it writes itself, other times it comes from two or more ideas, the brilliant john lennon (of the beatles) wrote "i am the walrus" just to confound people who were looking for deep meaning in their music, that was the idea wrote the music and lyrics... "lucy in the sky with diamonds" was simply his son's take on a nursery rhyme, everyone was sure it was about "lsd", lennon wrote another song called "because" while listening to yoko try to play beethoven's famous "moonlight sonata", he reversed the melody, cut it in half and used the finished product as the melody for his own song.
      ideas can come from a myriad of sources, the brilliant part is knowing how to use these well studied technics to inspire your own creation, lennon didn't just pluck an idea out of thin air, he was always working on some process to flesh an idea out. he was always as inquisitive about the process as much as the final product.

      Lucy in the sky is Lucy the Goat and since he a child of darkness the diamonds is the night sky. When they speak witch language they not going to tell you who they really serve. That's that weak light only Lucy can give those seeking enlightenment but not seeking true light through Jesus. This dont take imagination just an anti-Christ spirit and a sketch pad.

    Mr. Anderson, this short animated feature was by far one of the most important and inventive films I have ever had the pleasure of watching. The storyline was unique in its appearance at this time and foreshadows an even greater future for yourself in the moviemaking world.
    As I know the people of this country, some of them would not be able to wrap their heads around the concept of beings who created the Earth. It's a shame that Hollywood could not see their way to let you create a full length feature film based on the ideas that you presented in this short length film. Hopefully someday soon, you will be given the green light to create your vision into reality. Thank you so much for this glimpse into your creative genius.
