Back in 1990, I was working in a fast food on the Las Vegas Strip. There was a pan-handler who usually hustled nearby named Scotty. Scotty was absolutely normal, except he was very small and his limbs were basically on backwards. Think of if your shoulders were so messed up that your arms where your thumbs faced down and you elbows faced each other. Scotty basically got around on crutches... barely... but he couldn't really carry anything with his arms. He was a nice enough guy... but life dealt him a pretty tough hand. You know... I just realized I wrote a terrible pun by accident... and I'm just going to leave it there.
Scotty made some decent money. The damnedest thing is some guy once said to me off-handed how easy it was for Scotty to just stand there and make money. I just turned it around and said "well, for that free money... would you want to trade lives with him?"
