Narration will be a great addition to the channel, but I was hoping you would whisper like you do in your Intros. Your whispers are so relaxing and pair excellently with the relaxing music and your beautiful creations!
Thank you so much for the suggestion! We may rotate in a whispered video :)
As a huge fan of both soft spoken ASMR as well as watching artisans at work, I can already tell this is going to be one of my favorite ASMR videos on this platform.
What an amazing thing to read - thank you so much!
Thank you for labeling it as softly spoken. You have a beautiful voice! Unfortunately I can’t stand talking.. I’m glad those that enjoy it have it now though! I’ll be waiting for the next talk-free one! Also, beautiful fly!
Agree with this, I really like that you have a calming melody in the background with the sounds, perfect relaxation. Labelling it to let us know it's spoken is really helpful and really appreciated
Totally get it and thank you so much for the feedback! Helps us make decisions moving forward :)
Thanks for letting me know! :)
@@shetiesflies aww... Keep doing what you like doing. If I was talented and wanted to copy or do similar, the voiceover is perfect! But without speaking it sounds like I'm listening to a relaxation tune in a spa (but with asmr instead of rainforest sounds)
Exquisite!! Don't know if I have said this, but, your flies are of museum quality. If this old country boy were to try to put that much material in such a small space would not even make a fair mop. You do it so efficiently, delicately, and with such ease. Please keep up the wonderful work.
I so appreciate that, David! This one took some work to tame, but I'm happy with the result.
Love everything about it!! No need to skip the grooming stage, I could watch just that. It shows your high level of attention to detail.
Ha!! My boyfriend (and the videographer and editor of all of our videos) would beg to differ! Thank you so much for watching - I sincerely appreciate it!
I have no desire to learn this amazing craft, however I crochet 🧶 and watching you inspires me and soothes me. You are absolutely magnificent in what you create. Ty so much for sharing your gift. Hugs sweet young lady.
Always love to hear from you and love to hear this! I've been a knitter for over a decade and I feel the same peace when I knit that I feel when I tie! Meditative!
I love the subtle narration!!
Yay! Thanks for letting me know and so glad you enjoyed it!
omg its happening!!!!! Dropping everything to watch this.
Hope you like it! We're dipping our toes into a bit of conversational soft-spoken. Hope you like it!
Hi Erin!
I usually watch fly tying movies as relaxation when I'm too tired to tie. Found your page first on Instagram. Finally I can watch with a sense of peace.

Marie,
Love to hear that these videos are bringing you some peace :)
@ ❤️
Great to hear your voice.Fabulous as always!❤
Thank you, Shelly!
Fantastic! Love watching you arrange the colors and your gentle voice narrating the precise work is amazing
Thank you so much! I'm honestly a little insecure about my voice - really appreciate the kind words!
I think I mentioned before I was going to see some bigger predator patterns and this is epic!
Sweet!!! Glad it passed the test!!
Why is this fly adorable?!
Good choice on the vertical eye. Horizontal made it look angry.
Funny thing, i have foster kittens. They love watching your channel. Lol They've been stuck to the TV like @_@ for an hour, binging. Lol
How cool is that?! Must be doing something right if the kittens are enjoying it, right?!
Beautiful fly! The narration is informative as well as relaxing. It’s a hit in my book. Great tie Erin!
Thank you so much!! Really appreciate you taking the time to let me know :)
i LOVE narrated fly tying videos i am SO excited
Yay!! Glad you liked it!!
Your soft spoken insights bring your art to a whole new level! Kudos!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
I love seeing g how the bait looks in water at end of the videos and the commentary is good for info for people getting into fly tying, I tried but the whip finisher got me, I never could figure it out no matter how many videos I watched lol
I totally get it! I watched SO MANY VIDEOS and then it just took 5 mins sitting down with someone at a local fly shop and I had it! Keep trying!
I’m so excited to experience this voiced over video from you! You have such a nice voice :)
Aw, thank you! I'm honestly a bit self conscious about it so I really appreciate the feedback!
It's very nice to hear you talk 😊. And a super nice fly you made.
Thanks! So glad you enjoyed it!
Your tender voice adds to the magical beauty u create
I sincerely appreciate that - thank you so much!
Nice unintentional ASMR and commentary! I love each and every fly and how they turn out by the end of the video is stunning!
Awesome!! Glad to hear you enjoyed!
Another spectacular fly!
Thank you so much!
Absolutely astonishing!
Thank you! Means more than you know!
Thank you so much. This was so enjoyable and educational.
Really glad you enjoyed it - thank you for watching!
Came here from your shorter insta video, this is so beautiful and calming to watch! I don't know much about fly tying myself but I can easily see my fav material being peacock feathers as well :D Really enjoyed the soft spoken ASMR and the info about your process/materials. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you so much for making the journey here from Instagram! I'm really so glad to hear that you're enjoying the long-form content, as well!! Peacock is so so gorgeous!
i would love to hear a whispering video like you do in ur intros 😇 very satisfying
Thank you for the feedback! It's always a tough choice to decide whether or not to do narration and/or whispering so it helps to hear what you think!
I think is the background music that make me feel peaceful watching the video, keep the good work I really enjoy watching your videos!
I'm glad you enjoy the music! We definitely try to pick relaxing songs :)
Merci!!
wow , great pattern for northern pike !
Absolutely!!
yes i’ve been waiting for something like this!!! so relaxing
Glad you enjoyed!!
Love these videos, found your channel very recently. I like the idea of giving it a try, there is many ways to add naration, a whisper, soft spoken, just in subtitles, or just written on screen text.
Really appreciate that! Maybe we'll experiment with some different options so there's a little something for everyone!
I have loved watching you tie flies without narration. I enjoyed this one with narration. You have a lovely soothing voice. However, I think i prefer without narration. Wonderful video and beautiful fly tying skill either way. Well done. Please keep them coming.
Thank you so much for the feedback! Helps us make decisions moving forward. Really appreciate the kind words - means a ton!!
Your skill is beautiful. I love watching you work.
I have no idea about fishing and I would like you to give us more history about the creatures you’re trying to imitate and for what type of fish would choose them etc. thank you. ❤
Thank you so much for the suggestion! That's a great idea and I'll try to include some of that information in future soft spoken videos!
Outstanding!!! Ty
Thank you so much!!
Love the narration!
I really love being able to hear the explanations while you're working - my mind doesn't always shut down on it's own, and having something to actively pay attention to seems to help that.
The only thing I would say is, having to listen quietly, it's a bit difficult now to hear the sounds of your work.
Your tone is perfect, the volume (from my phone at least lol) feels a bit unbalanced.
Also, I can mever get over how smoothly and symmetrically you're able to shape everything as you're tying. The mesh cones are super satisfying, but my favorite is clear UV resin, shrimp guts in particular hehe)
And holy crap this lil dude is so squiggly in the water lol
Thank you so much for the great feedback!! It's definitely a challenge to find the right balance! :)
One of my favourite channels uploads two videos, one with narration, and one just ASMR. Some days I want to learn, some days I want to watch. If I could have it my way, I would like just ASMR, and then close captions that let me know the name of the materials. I don't tie flies but I truly appreciate your skill. I just wish I knew the names of what you were using beyond the opening scene.
Awesome suggestion!! I'll take that back to the team meeting! (Me and Alex having coffee at the kitchen island lol). I worry a bit about duplicate content on TH-cam, so I'll have to do a bit of research, but I like this idea!
@shetiesflies I hadn't considered the duplicated content factor, so I went back and looked at Baumgartner Restoration, and he doesn't actually upload twice anywhere near as much as he used to, and the narrations are more popular by far. Primitive Technology "narrates" through the closed captions, and a few cooking channels do the same, with ingredients listed in the video. They might not be confident on mic, but I think the CCs can be translated, so could be a factor if you have an international audience.
Love to see your spin on left cray’s deceiver fly
Noted! :)
I hope you do more narrated videos! I struggle to focus on longer videos with no commentary
Thank you so much for the feedback! We'll likely get more in the rotation this year :)
Absolutely loved the soft-spoken commentary! As someone who has no idea about anything to do with fly tying both as a craft and a sport it’s really insightful to hear what you have to say! I’m super curious, with the exception of times where your line might break or you have to cut it free, how long would you expect a fly to last in when it’s used? Is it one feisty fish and you have to replace it or will it last a few dozen (or more) fish? I really hope it’s the latter because it would be a shame to put so much effort and time into tying a fly so beautiful to only try and catch one fish… ❤
Thank you so much and super great question! The answer isn't straightforward - it really depends on the fly and the target species. Some flies are tied fairly bulletproof, but others, like this one, employ lots of natural materials (feathers, deerhair) that will eventually wear or break. It's good to get at least a few fish per fly, though I've heard of some folks having the same fly for decades!! Another important factor is the mouthparts of the fish. Do they have soft lips? Teeth? Grinders? Bill? This all makes a difference when it comes to how the fly fares over time :)
Would love to see a workbench overview!
That's been on our radar for a bit - it's a really good idea! I'm a little nervous to show the chaos that is my tying station, but I'd imagine lots of tyers have stations that are a bit of a mess! :)
Thank you for letting us know what tool you use to trim your materials, I was wondering. Great videos always.
It's my pleasure! Thank you so much!
I find all of this stuff very interesting. I won't be using the information for tying flies but for miniature model making. I like you voice and choice of music. I find it VERY difficult to listen to people who are soo over the top with trying to be a comic, I turn off.
Love to hear this! We know that soft spoken narration can be polarizing, but at the end of the day, we wanted it to be just a calm, quiet conversation. Appreciate you watching and the comment!
Enjoy the voiceover
Awesome! Thanks for letting us know! We were curious how it would be received :)
Preciosa, pero me sigue gustando mucho mas el pececillo,. Saludos..
¡Entiéndelo totalmente! ¡¡Me alegra que aún lo hayas disfrutado!!
I have a few questions. Why Grizzly hackle over Schlappen, I know they are very similar, and both come from a rooster, but is there something better about the Grizzly hackle that the Schlappen doesn't do? Also, do you think this pattern would still work if you changed up the color pattern? Thanks 😁
Great questions! While it's not my pattern, I would venture a guess that, because schlappen tends to be more broad, and because the grizzly hackle has the gorgeous bars that can mimic baitfish patterns, the grizzly hackle was his choice. That said, I think schlappen would make for a more chaotic action to this fly and would be curious to see it! This fly has been tied in a myriad of colorways and I'm sure it would be effective. Best practice is to match the baitfish in the area you're fishing but with some dramatic details :)
@shetiesflies thank you!! I'm trying to do some big game flyfishing, so I'm doing all the research I can!
I would like to ask a favor. Would consider tying a Clouser Crayfish?
Absolutely! I'll add it to my list (I already have the next 12 planned out!) :)
@@shetiesflies Thank you very much! I'll certainly be looking forward to it. Have a blessed day.
Fimsh👍
Indeed!
I prefer the video without talking. Good tie though.
Thank you so much for letting me know! It helps to know what viewers think - glad you enjoyed the tie!
Watch it on mute then. Options for all stripes.
She’s so pretty and love your voice
Thanks so much! Was a little nervous to add the narration in there, but it was worth a try!
it’s giving wicked 💚🩷 super cute! i like the big interesting ties, but i also like the lil guys too cause lots of work goes into the textures. i enjoyed the soft speaking, topics were great and engaging. describing next steps / intentions for design is great !! love a lil history too- i know next to nothing about fly fishing and textiles. the fun facts were awesome
Exactly the kind of feedback I was hoping for!! Thank you so much for taking the time to comment!
