Dr Rodriguez, I am so grateful to have found you!! I have Parkinson's and have noticed that the carbidopa has not been helpful in reducing my symptoms-- now I realize that I must have the gait abnormality type of the disease since I have no tremors and only a little stiffness but my balance and gait increasingly impaired. Recently I fell and broke my arm. This was the ultimate wake up call! I realized that balance is central to regaining any mobility -- also as I had suspected that the carbidopa is not helping and perhaps even making my condition worse. Where to go from here? I am determined to walk again!

Sorry to hear about your arm. Balance is critical to avoid complications. I suggest you see a movement disorders specialist for an opinion in terms of diagnosis and treatment.

    Hi doctor
My mother has been suffering from Parkinson's disease for about 14 years, and in the last two years, she has been suffering from overheating of her body, especially her palms and feet. It feels burning in the legs and the closer we get with the tips of the toes, the burning becomes more intense. All tests related to diabetes and liver are normal. Could it be a problem of Parkinson's and is there a cure?
    Thank you so much

Sometimes people with off episodes may have this kind of symptoms. Are they related to the timing of medicine intake (levodopa)?

My doctor said I have the good Parkinson’s…what ever that means

Carol, that is a great question and I think I’ll make a short video explaining. But your doctor likely means that it is not an atypical Parkinson.

My husband had DBS surgery done 8 months ago but he still has stiffness 4 to 5 times a day lasting 1 hour each time. He takes 2x sinemet every 2hours. Is there any solution.
    Thank you.

Cases like this can be very difficult. In first place, his DBS needs to be optimized in terms of programming. Then, optimized meds. Options like Rytary can help. A new longer acting levodopa is expected soon. Adding Duopa is another option. These are general ideas to discuss with your doctor. Stay tuned because I will be posting updates as they become available.
