This has to be the best interview I've heard from Gerrard. No bs, just honest answers.
Stevie does not need to make any amends. He gave it all for the shirt. He gave more for the club than any player has ever given to anyone in history. He is and will remain by far and away the greatest footballer to have played on British soil. He is the only player to have literally confirmed and reiterated that he would die for the club. If and when Liverpool employs the man, it is the club that is doing a huge favour rather than the other around.
One thing I notice about Gerrard is when other player talk about him, they all speak with admiration and respect, look at the way Rio looks at him, never cutting him short, but very keen to listen what makes this great player so great. It's funny to see even older players look up to him so much. He was loved by all. It's said a lot about players, but he is a legend of a man. He will win the title one day with Liverpool, as manager.
We are fortunate to have him manage my club, I have no doubt he will win many titles with us, then into you to win the title he deserves

that golden generation were genuinely unlucky not to be champions of a major tournament looking back. In major tournaments you always need that bit of luck to get to a final. England rarely got that luck. I can't think of a single international champion that has just breezed through everybody like the British media expected. We had excellent individual players but not the same camaraderie as some of the teams who have players all over the world and whose players can't wait to meet with their compatriots in the national team. Hopefully England can get some fortune for the Euros but Gerrard is right that cliques are a problem in the England set-up

What gerrard said about the England players of his generation not enjoying going to the international breaks has definitely gone with the current squad. All of the golden gen say the same thing, the WC 2018 we had a good run & that’s largely down to the feeling inside the camp imo. They’re all boys nowadays. City players mates with united players, mates with spurs players etc. This will definitely help us in upcoming tournaments... especially now we’ve got a good enough team again.
