I grew up watching The Munsters and The Addams Family and I love the theme music. Each time it plays I get nostalgic. Thank you for another fun project.
Thank you so much, Kimberly! I absolutely love this quilt. Actually, I love all 3 of the Halloween mystery quilt patterns. ❤ I usually cut my borders to match, pin on each end, then ease it in. I like your idea of pinning the side edge, too. That will be super helpful for keeping the borders straight. Can't wait to see next year's quilt!
I like how you’re always showing different tips and tricks on how to hide or fix small imperfections. When I cut outer borders, I always cut them a half-inch or so wider than they need to be so I have extra wiggle room when squaring/trimming after quilting!
I have found when cutting borders longer, when I cut the quilt top, by the time I get to sewing the border on, I have forgotten that I cut them longer & try to squish the longer border onto the cut quilt top & have puckers... so I've taught myself to cut the border as instructed.
Totally cut my borders a bit longer and I would never in a million years starch like you do. Yes, you are fussy but you are also brilliant and helpful. While I tend towards simpler methods I prefer to think I'm making educated choices. As opposed to lazy or careless. As a seamster I'm really used to pins and pressing seams open so I appreciate this validation. Thanks for all the quilty love!
Enjoyed watching you sew this quilt. I’m don’t celebrate Halloween but I love fall. I like when you sew and share all your tips and tricks on sewing. I used your border tips and I was impressed that they came out better on My Happy Place quilt. I will do all my borders that way. I also back stitch on my borders since the quilt will be handled before quilting. Thank you
Good tips about adding borders! I have always cut my borders based on the actual size of the completed quilt center. When adding borders to a full size quilt I put pins at the center and the fold the edges to the center and put pins at the quarter and three quarter marks. The length I cut the borders is based on the average of the sides (or top and bottom) and the middle of the quilt. I think this helps ensure the quilt will be rectangular and not trapezoidal.😊😊
I appreciate your "craziness" when it comes to piecing. I am not so picky, most of the time, but I appreciate your explanations and tips. Now I know how to minimize wavy borders! Thank you for all you and your team do for this family of quilters faithfully watching you.
❤ your border tips. I was excited that I do several of your suggestions. I cut borders a little bigger and measure length it should be and pin those measurements. I also backstitch borders and backing. My garment sewing brain kicks in and it just feels right to me.
Thanks for all the extra tips! I have had some corner trouble and didn't realize that pinning round the corner would make such a difference! I do usually cut mine just 1/2" larger though. Your projects always look so great! I do use starch thanks to watching you and that helped with better accuracy. Thanks for all the free patterns too and love your sew-alongs.
I must be different. I was taught to measure down the center of the quilt for my borders so that it doesn’t warp on me. Because edges can fluctuate. But I love how you pinned the ends to keep it straight. Great idea!!!
LOVE love love how you added the borders. Definitely will do them like it in the future as well. Thank you so much for your tips & tricks and the free pattern. And congratulation on your 20 year anniversary!
I also cut my borders longer after learning from you. One thing I do is stitch 1/8 inch around the whole finished top. This helps in not stretching as you show your finished quilt top off. :-)
Adorable quilt. I applaud you on sharing tips with us. I am one of those who cuts the borders bigger and trims down after they are sewn on. Thanks, Kimberly, for all you do for us. Happy 20th anniversary! 🥰❤️🪡🧵🎉
cant wait to get my sewing room back in order to get started on this one!!Halloween is my favorite holiday and Christmas. Love all your tips and tricks and how so precise you are. I have learned alot watching you. I had a very seasoned quilter tell me to fold your quilt tops with the seams to the inside to protect them until its quilted. She reminds us each time we do it wrong at a quilt meeting for show and tell. HAppy Halloween!!! a little early
As a longarm quilter I love seeing you backstitch on a border. What happens to the borders if you don't use a short stitch length and backstitch is they can come apart as they are loaded. I always backstitch borders.
Love you tips to Quilters about borders. Ask any long arm Quilter how hard it is to Quilt some people's quilts because they do not make sure they are flat and wavy. Always make sure it's nicely pressed before going to Long arm Quilter. Enjoyed the tutorial on Haunted Halloween 🧵🪡
Always learn sew much watching Kimberly’s sewing. Great project, loved the design and the fabric. My daughter is crazy for Halloween so this will be going up to her for a fall surprise at school. Thank you Kimber and FQS! ❤

I am not doing this project but watch for all your great tips. I am glad I'm not the only one that gets the little dip on the borders. I hate that. Thank you for the tips!!
I usually cut my borders longer and then trim. I’m not that into Halloween and wasn’t going to sew this but it’s way too cute and now I have to. Thanks for all your tips Kimberly.
I usually do not do Halloween but this was a great quilt to practice. I only started quilting a year ago and only do small wall hangings. Thank you for the pattern and the videos. Very much appreciated.
I didn't think about securing borders but I am doing it now, I have them come loose on the ends and had to resew. I LOVE this series, Halloween is my fav holiday anyway :)

The music you used when demonstrating the actual sewing was PERFECT for this quilt top. Brilliant.
I really enjoyed the tip about pinning the final border on the side, I couldn't figure that out, so I started making my borders about 1 inch longer.
I must be different. I was taught to measure down the center of the quilt for my borders so that it doesn’t warp on me. Because edges can fluctuate. But I love how you pinned the ends to keep it straight. Great idea!!!
