That's actually what dancers and such use on (more delicate) costumes that can't be washed when they're on tour/having a lot of shows back to back! :)

I loved the Cottagecore look with the sheer duster! That's definitely where I'm at for Spring - white puff blouses and dresses with leather boots. Hanging my white linens and thrift finds in the sun to dry outside on the clothesline brings me so much joy to look at lol.

You can also spray it with white vinegar I got a jacket from Posh and it smelled nothing but cigarettes smoke I tried that vinegar twice just to make sure and the smell came out

I tried that recently on a jacket that stank of incense, and it worked really well. I now use it on items that aren’t dirty enough to wash, but want to freshen up. So handy

You can send your kowtow dress back to them to be fixed if you can’t be bothered! Not sure how it works outside of NZ but they have a repair program so it’s worth looking into!!
