    So as far as how you attach the flasher ...you add a snap to the swivel that's already on the Sabiki rig ? Or is there another way you attach it ?

    • @heyjerryfishing
      @heyjerryfishing  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I use a old snap, put one end through the hole on the flasher and the other to the top swivel on the sabiki. You could use mono too if a snap is not handy just make a loop and be sure its a small loop otherwise it may tangle, but the snap is the way to go, you could also use split rings if they are handy but the snap is nice because you can remove if need be for a longer cast, good question diesel

    So, how many fishing trips yield success? 2 out of three? 2 out of five?

    • @heyjerryfishing
      @heyjerryfishing  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The answer to that question lay in variables such as methods used, time of year, fish sought, time constraints, etc, etc, etc... In human terms I will say MANY.

    • @heyjerryfishing

    Hi Jerry, came across this older video you posted, great video as always. Herring marinara sounds interesting, do you pickle, smoke or fried the herring first? Also, do you ever go for white perch in the winter? Thanks and cheers.

    • @heyjerryfishing
      @heyjerryfishing  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Joe thanks! Yea herring marinara is fantastic you reminded may may have to do next year for my cooking vid. I do pickle them here is the video how th-cam.com/video/eyO3h86k3cY/w-d-xo.html I do it. I generally first batch fry them, then pickel then marinara then just plain broil. they are great cold after a broil. I have not winter fished for white perch in some decades but may have to try some nice sunny winter day. I tend to lean to other fw fishing but will see. Thanks as always Joe!

    What's the best time of the year for Herring, Jerry?

    • @heyjerryfishing
      @heyjerryfishing  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi James, it varies but around now, but look after thanksgiving. I had em as early as halloween and as late as may seasons vary. Many years I really didnt start fishing for them after the new years but lately the first and second weeks of dec seem to bring some bounty. theory has it there are 2 runs a winter and spring when the schools cross you have phenomenal years.

    Hi Jerry, Haven't seen you in a while. Glad you're back. Is you Mitchell 300 from the 1960's ? I had one that looks like yours back in 1963. Great idea making the flasher. Fishing has been very slow down in South Jersey. Did you visit Billy Joel when you were in Oyster Bay ? Thanks, Mickey

    • @heyjerryfishing
      @heyjerryfishing  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Its a old one from the late 70's Mickey - old trusty changed the handle out on it recently love the torpedo better grip for a full rack of em! I believe his house is some where of that island off the right foreground, i will say hi for you when I see him! Always the best comments and thanks as always Mickey!

    Hey Jerry, the Mitchell 300 was my first reel back in 1969 then I bought a Mitchell 308 for trout fishing. I remember having to replace the bail springs twice a year. Enjoy your posts. Keep a tight line and Merry Christmas.

    • @heyjerryfishing
      @heyjerryfishing  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The 308's are awesome, need to do my springs someday, when it gets cold cold the bail freezes a tad and i have to flip the rest of the way, if you doing the springs 2x a year I bet you were fishing like crazy with lots of trouts on the mark!!! good stuff thanks for watching and commenting Thaddeus

      Much welcome Grandpa! You can use any kind of aluminum, I have used plain foil, bottom of baking pans, cans and plenty more these are diamond plate but anything flashy will get it done. thanks for watching and taking the time to comment - Jerry
