Moacir Santos is one of the great In Brazil, he is better known among musicians than among the public, unfortunately He was a great orchestrator and great saxophonist The sax solo you hear in this recording is his He lived a lot in the USA, was a friend of Quincy Jones Perhaps he was the author of the original score for the series Mission Impossible (TV), but there is no way to prove it ... He had many influences from black Brazilian music He created his own rhythm, the "mocho", with a Caribbean flavor Wrote in a strange beats, type 5/4, with polyrhythms Everything is very balanced. Everything very elegant My favorite song of his is called "Maracatucute"
I'm brazilian and I confess this is my first time listening to Moacir Santos as well. I still can't believe it, so many goosebumps!! Thanks for sharing!!!
Moacir é incrivel e unico, pois ele é um maestro, mas no mesmo nivel temos Tom Jobin. Wagner Tiso. Rogerio Dupra. Jaques Morelenbaun. Dom Salvador. Egberto Gismonti. Eumir Deodato. Etc. Etc. Etc.
huuuhuuuuuu it's me !!! too happy to be able to see the music of my land won the world. Moacir was born in the interor of pernambuco and is all like one of the great Brazilian conductors, owner of an unparalleled elegance, manages to mix different rhythmic elements like no one else, together with the melodies and harmonies that make us travel through his musical universe. You can listen to this whole album, mad of his work is very extensive. I really like the Maestro album recorded in the United States. Thank you very much again 🙏🙏
I'll already send other names from my region to you, take a look at several different rhythms. if you can listen to Spok frevo, also from pernambuco and that brings the sound of our state Frevo. You will not regret it. You can hear Passo de anjo of spok frevo please 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
At last. I wouldn't say he is the father of Bossa Nova. He is "just" a genius from instrumental músic. With a Lot of Brazilian rhytmics elements. But of course genius like this influence a bunch of people. And Choro is older than samba. By the way React to Choro.
He's the teacher of Baden Powell, so there's some sense in the sentence. But I hear what you mean, he's more like a proto Bossa, almost too majestic for the style. And again, he references some of those famous rythms, like Maracatu, frevo and even tango or the blues. Moacir is a genious, very glad to hear he's stuff still reaches people nowdays.
This song is freak awesome!!!!!! The brass section is absolutly beatiful. never heard this before. Thank you very much for this reaction, Brother Frank.
HI Frank, thanks to react to a brasilian artist of this magnitude, it is a honor for us to be surprised by you, a brasilian lazz with bossa and samba included and i agree really elegant, enjoy all the songs from this album
WOW!!!!!!! I’M SO EXCITED! THERE’S A WHOLE WONDERFUL ALBUM “ STAN GEZ & JOÃO GILBERTO “ . MANY PEARLS!!! THE SAX OF STAN GETZ WILL MAKE YOU CRY. GENIUS! I’M ASKING FOR A REACT, PLEASE.
Hey, Francesco! Listen to Coisa N° 10 too. You can choose, besides the composer's there are two other renderings that I'd suggest - clarinet and 7 string guitar AND this one by a very special 13 musicians band, mostly revered old timers. Think crème de la crème of the musicality needed to approach Moacir's work.

welcome into the samba-jazz (not exactly bossa nova, even though there is some proximity) rabbit hole, Mr. Valchiria. Milton Banana Trio, Zimbo Trio, Dom Um Romão would be a few other artists from the same genre... this album from the Maestro Moacir Santos that you've just react to, from the year 1965, is titled Coisas (which means "Things" in english, or "Cose" in italiano), and all of the tracks are just called "Coisa N. 1", "Coisa N. 2", and so on... pure genius stuff.
