My strategy is and always will be. Make my own tier lists and then use said lists to draft BEST PLAYER AVAILABLE every round
How you should do it
Not me. For me all about stacking
The issue with stacking is one bad game or major injury and it affects your entire week/season.
You draft Tua and Hill and Tua goes down you lose your QB and a ton of productions at WR
@@Dadrian91wash your beard and buy some new clothes before tryna clown someone else
Get screwed on BYE weeks though with that.
So many people misunderstand strategy in drafting. Your strategy should NEVER be determined before a draft starts. Your strategy should be determined by how the draft unfolds and what players are available to you. Strategies are guidelines for how to fill out your roster depending on what the best players were that were available to you at each round.
Numbers don’t lie, and to be honest the waiver wire & luck with injuries is ultimately what wins it for you.
it is it is not skilk but luck that wins you. championshio
@@Dwatts24111 absolutely! I always tell my leauge mates drafting, waiver wire & luck with injuries only gets you to the playoffs. It takes pure luck to bring home the 🏆.
We have implemented a rule with waivers this year. You get 1 free waiver each week. Any waiver that you make after the free one must start in the week you picked him up. This is an attempt to prevent stashing.
@@fatherof3681not pure luck …
Luck can certainly be a big factor, but when you see the same players at the top of the league and the same players at the bottom of the league year over year with a few outliers it suggests to me that skill plays a larger part than you're recognizing.
Honestly my biggest takeaway from this video was how OP Christian McCaffery is
Exactly.

Bro a dude in my league had him and CeeDee and winded up second to last 😂
Facts
I changed the way I drafted in 2017, going with a value based drafting system. My teams ended in the money 6 out of the 8 years. I feel you need to be fluid during the draft, and take advantage of players who are under valued.
Always great info. Thank you.
Love this channel man ! They helped me win it all last year !!
GREAT video as always!!! This was my favorite video last year!!! This is my favorite video this year I have to take a wide reciever first or second, then a running back first or second. Then best available. I had one of the best years tuntil Chubb and Mikre Williams got hurt!!!
always straight facts!
Always enjoy the show guys!!!! Even when I disagree.. Great job
Love this video. I would love to see you do the same next year with the 2024 results and combine this info to have an even more in-depth point of view for next year.
Amazing video!!!
Oh I will 😁
Definitely needed to hear that.
These are my favorite videos you do, yearly. Love it.
DUDE - thx for this analytical masterpiece. love these kind of vids. keep it up man!
This draft strategy advice is very helpful. Thanks for doing the research. I'm definitely going to use this strategy.
Glad it was helpful!
Just found your channel today and I am glad I did!!!
Welcome!!
So cool that u do different types of videos. The fantasy streets are so vanilla these days! Gimme that twist!
Great content!
another bangger!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Awesome Video 🙌🏼it’s nice to see which strategies work better depending on what draft spot you get this will definitely help me for my draft this year😎
Jake is da man. Stacking is great until someone gets hurt. Always my luck lol
Love the balanced approach bro!#HUBMAGIC, #HEADLINERNATION, #MAKINGTHEWORLDABETTERPLACE!
👊🏼
I agree 100% !!!!!!
Can’t force it. I forced WR WR last year and ended up with Kupp and Adams. My rbs ended up being Breece, Gibbs, Kyren and Achane. Had Sam Laporta as a UDFA week 1. The WRs and QB (AR and Fields) wrecked my season.
Banger
Thank you Jake for doing all the homework!
👊🏼
Good Stuff, Thanks!!!
You're welcome!
Great research I applause you🎉
Love the video Jake. I’m been in one league for 15 years now and we added one keeper the last 2 years. Last years champion picked Kyren Williams in the 14th round which will be his keeper this year. Many of the top RB’s will be keepers. Throws another wrench in my strategy for 2024 😩
For sure.... Forces your hand to get an RB early kinda
Thanks for the info! I was just curious, does the QB/TE draft locations (round/number) play a factor you consider when doing these? I think this is super informative, just curious if that might cause one of the categories to tip the scales.
Thanks Jake.
This is the best fantasy study I’ve seen. Lends a lot of insight when you’re factoring out your drafts
👊🏼
Another banger (air humping)!
🍆
Excellent quality analysis and breakdown
FINALLY! An innovative and hard data, hard working approach to fantasy guidance. In light of all the strategy pushers out there, how many of them tested ALL strategies against each other across all draft positions??? Nice work. Subscribed.
Thanks for your support! 👊
Headliners are the Aristocrat dealer of online football fantasy information 💪🏼🏈
Another Banger!
I did exactly what you mentioned here last year on my way to another championship.
My draft went WR, QB, RB, RB, WR, TE, then filled in the rest of my spots.
The team was loaded with Diggs, Lamar, Walker, Evans, Hockenson, and I picked up Mostert and Nico in the 9th and 13th!
This year, I'm targeting Murray, Chase, Nacua, King Henry, Mixon, and Pitts if I can't get Kelce, with Pickens, Stevenson, Zeke, and Jameson Williams as mid/late round sleepers.
I'm hoping for pick #6 in a 12 team league because I can probably get everything I want there.
The very best strategy is always to go with the best player avaliable, especially in the first 6 rounds. That was your point and you are correct.
Good video!
I go Zero wr and have won 3 championships in a row. Landed Nico, Tank, Zay flowers and Addison late. Wrs are always easier to find on waivers. Go stud rbs first all day.
Godly fantasy knowledge right here. Thank you
You're very welcome
i agree the best teams come from value and taking advantage of players dropping a rd or two vs being married to a specific position
You guys are definitely one of the more entertaining FF channels, where else are you gonna hear”researching the nuts off of it”?
Another banger
excellent advice as usual!! Play the draft and don't feel pressured to stick to a strategy cause it's "hot"
Exactly!
Jake, I can’t keep up with all these BANGERS of videos you’re dropping!!!
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Illuminating.
30 hours is insane that’s why you guys are the best
I tend to go the RB Hero approach aka a balanced first 5 rounds. Making sure I take 3-4 WR's, 1-2 top tier RBs, 1 QB, 1 TE inside 7 rounds. BE FLEXABLE!!
Or FLEXIBLE...
No matter how many mock drafts you do, you can’t predict what your other league mates will do. Just have to go with the flow of the draft
Went zero RB last year and finished with over 2000 points in full PPR 12 man league. It really depends on who you draft late that ends up turning up (I.e Mostert, Puka & Kyren)
Balance is key to fantasy football and life! Take the good times and be ready for the bad! Great video as always
Well said!
I stick with anchor rb always works best for me
I do fantasy football a few years now. And on draft day it's always the same - weird things will happen. So it's useful to have a strategy, but you have to be ready to react to those weird situations. So take your own research before, too.
Great vid!
Much appreciated!
Fiiinnnneee… I’ll subscribe.. 😏
Yes! Same results as last year. You also said there was a clear advantage to getting a Top 3 RB. How does that play out?
My draft (re-draft .5ppr) strategy is to load up on RB/WR and wait till almost the end to grab QB/TE, and of course D/ST with K last.
Playing fantasy over the years, I find that you can always use another RB (especially RB) and WR. QB/TE is basically streamable.
te is the least likely to get a stud
I agree, though guys in my league like to start loading up on QB backups starting in Round 9, so I have to be careful!
Video idea, can we get a chart on which draft position scored the best? There always seems to be a fall off around 8 plus you don't get the double pick in snake drafts.
This is likely the MOST informative, productive segment in all of fantasy-landia...
I tend to agree
Been doing different strats in mocks and I really love 3 rbs right off rip, followed by a top 5 qb then WR/WR and another rb.
Balanced has always been my approach. I try and take 2 rbs and 1 WR in first 3 rounds if possible
I always build strong teams. My issue is that I always do a big trade before the deadline and the beast I traded for either gets hurt or just completely falls off immediately after the trade lol I'm gonna see if I can restrain myself this year 🤞
BPA is always the best
strategy!
Going godwin/Jeff wilson over evans/mostert hurt me last year but the process was sound imo.
So how do you determine who is the best player available? Because if your way of determining who is best player available is wrong, then the pick will be wrong.
My strategy is to take the players with the most value relative to their ADP. Which is essentially the same thing as taking the "best player available." However, it's not just taking the player that I like the most, or think will will be the best.
So saying the best player available strategy is the best strategy can actually be completely false depending on the context.
Every sense I join this channel I’m always n the playoffs or competing for a championship 😊
Love to hear that
I won on a 0 hb strat last year, i did have mostert on my team.
I usually try to do the zero wr. This year may be a little difficult. I can either keep Bijon and JT or A-raw and bijon.
First of all, any strategy will work IF you pick the right players, and will totally fail if you pick the wrong players.
But the BEST strategy to consistently win in fantasy football, is to determine player values, then determine which players have the best value relative to their ADP for every round, and then take those players where they are being drafted.
Any "strategy" where you target specific positions in specific rounds, or pick players based on speculation or conjecture is esentially a "coinflip" at best, or a complete failure at worst.
But if you're team is full of players that outperform their draft position, even if you miss on a couple players, your team will be a contender 95% of the time.
I've been playing FF since 2005 and have been utilizing and perfecting my VBD:ADP strategy since 2010, and I couldn't even tell you the last time i finished in the bottom half of the standings in a league.
My favorite draft strategy is getting into draft rooms where everyone lets the best pick fall.
I have a lineup and it’s still active where player 12 picked hurts then 9 RBs in a row.
If that can go thru I can only imagine what draft rooms the winners of these tournaments actually have.
.
Ive always gone RB heavy may have to go best player available each round but im always trying to get 3 rb 3 wr before i grab a qb or te
A little waiver wire skill, a little draft skill, and possible trade skill if needed.
I say that to say a little bit of each resource is needed for decent fantsy squads....
Does the same theory apply to dynasty leagues? Could you do a video on that and how teams would likely do in subsequent years?
I think you should do the same exercise now and revisit it next year... an episode that can be revisited throughout they year and again around this time next year
I will. Did it last year too
Injuries usually determine the season. That's why I usually do not draft running backs early. I get great receivers first then I'm flexible. But the injuries always come, and ultimately you almost have to pickup a good RB on waivers to win your league.
I drafted Mostert as my last player last season, and he absolutely put my team on 10!! 🗣Nuuuuuke Squad!!
I’ve only ever done non ppr leagues, so I draft 6 RB’s every year, and have won 4 out of 12 years. QB not until round 10, kicker and defense last 2 rounds
Makes sense I always go RB 1 and RB 2 with RB 1 potential every year and back to back champ and I’ve been playing for 4 years
And top 3 in other two leagues every single year.
Too many teams with multi WRs that are good.
Yup, gotta be fluid. Last year got Tyrek in round 1 and CD Lamb was staring at me so instead of forcing a rb, took CD.
Did you win with that lineup?
@@philipbryan2685he came in 8th place
Good sleeper pick up for volume Josh Palmer as well not consistent but we know Herbert and Palmer have chemistry !
Can you do a video with players on contract years please
🔥🔥🔥🔥
#REALTALK This is why you guys are better than any other football "experts". Disproving things with actual statistics and #facts
Much appreciated! 👊🏼
Another banger. I’ve never “researched the nuts off” of anything in my life but you can bet your ass I will now.
I’ll try anything twice. 😂
Great advixe! We have 1.5 PPR for TEs in our League, does that mean at 10th pick i should reach for LaPorta in the 2nd or 3rd?
If you want to be safe yes.... Unless you want to wait just a little longer for a guy like Jake Ferguson
@@TheFantasyHeadliners legends! Much appreciated 👍
agreed.
Thanks for the breakdown Jake, enjoyed the video!!
My pleasure!
How much would ppr swing these results?
hey Jake I drafted my wife team last year I use the combo but I need help in the later rds where I suck alot of times
A draft guide to help me regain my title I won a few years ago.
Were the numbers for the control variables (QB/TE) similar across the board?
Yup.
Last year I won my league by 0.10 I took a risk by drafting Kupp,JT,Kamara because they were out 3-5 games and I was lucky to pick up Nacua and Laporta from the wire
#realtalk. Ekler at #4 killed me. Only thing that saved me was B. Hall in the 6th RD and C.D. In RD 2.
Ekeler at 4 here as well but Kyren Williams off the waiver wire and a couple good trades and I won it all. We have a 12 team standard scoring league for over 20 years. I use a balanced approach but normally go RB, RB, QB, WR, RB, WR, RB, best available from here. I've always loved my league mates that go 0 RB because they always crash and burn!😂
I think the strategy for the same TE's and QB's is slightly flawed! Give me a sec to explain. If I am holding out on drafting RB's WR'r early, then I would have access to better TE's and QB's. At least to me, that seems like the point.
I love the deep dive on this!
Appreciate it!
BPA but players in same tier I will lean RB,
We need a show for rounds 15 thru 23 in a 12-man Dynasty startup.
Best Fantasy advice: Draft th3 best available player and build an overall solid team. Jake nailed it.
👊🏼
#RealTalk how do I get that 49ners helmet in the background? 😅😅😅
LoL 😂
I'll think about it
Ive always gone with the balance. But when my pick comes up, its about value
Love your work but how you gonna get Mike Evans in the 7th round? That’s why they were the best team! I can make a great team drafting Tyreek Hill in the 6th round too. 😮
Dude.... Listen to the video man. It's not that hard and you avoid looking silly out there
Last year I waited till rounds 5-7 to draft my RBS and got Mixon, White, and James Cook. After taking Lamb, ARSB, Olave, and Hockenson in the first 4 rounds. Won my league handily.
8 man league??
