    Awesome video as always. Both cars are perfect, I like the simple and elegant design of the Rivian.

    So awesome to see you guys tackle burns trail. I got my R1T and I’m local to Simi Valley. I’d love to tag along one day to see what this truck can do and add to the rivi fun! Keep the vids coming.

      It was a beautiful trail! I’d definitely like to organize a meet up at some point to get some local Rivian owners together👍🏻

    Stunning video! Very cool to see the different landscapes as you moved out of the desert into the mountains. Some of those Joshua trees were quite tall. Enjoying these adventures with you! Can't wait for the next one!

    Hey man! Great videos and I love that you include range and charging points. Advice requested: I just confirmed my R1T config but did the road wheels mainly because we get 300ish range in our Tesla and didn't want to drop below that if I did the off road wheels. But, I really want the off road wheels. What range are you getting with the 20" AT wheels? I may want to change my config to get the desired wheels. We can go from San Diego to our place in Big Bear and arrive with about 19% if we charge to 100%. Just didn't want to have to stop to charge for that jaunt. Everywhere else we go...Vegas, Palm Springs or further.....we're used to having to stop to charge and are fine with it. I'd love your valued input because you have the wheels I really want! I can still update my config for a brief time.

    • @ChargeOverland
      @ChargeOverland  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey! With the latest software update the max range is about 315miles on my 20” AT wheel/tires. Im definitely getting a little less than that with my rooftop tent and other gear but when I tested the truck stock a few months back I had a projected range of almost 319miles. I doubt you’ll have any issue making it from San Diego to Big Bear on a single charge with the 20” AT setup👍🏻

    • @SDClassicCarCenter
      @SDClassicCarCenter ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for that! I switched my configuration to go with the 20’s. See you on the trail!

    If you do Anza Borrego or anything in the San Diego region, would love to tag along. Just got Wildpeaks installed and dying to try them out.

    Been following your videos, because you’re the only true overlander using an R1T that I know of so far…I’m supposed to have delivery of my R1T in a month but am feeling very hesitant on pulling the trigger due to the issues (mechanical and software) that’s surfacing on rivian forums. Have you had any major issues with yours?

    • @MiguelPalaviccini
      @MiguelPalaviccini ปีที่แล้ว

      Carlo, what specific “major” issues are you referring to?

    • @carlo3109
      @carlo3109 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      1.) the truck being completely “bricked” not being able to open the doors to get inside or yet alone start the car. This can be very problematic if one was to reach a certain point on a trail that is remote and all of a sudden the truck won’t let you in.
      2.) Vampire drain that was supposedly improved by a recent OTA, however a recent video showed that it wasn’t really much of an improvement. This can also be problematic in overlanding, as some have reported more than 5% of battery drain while not being plugged in for 12-24 hours.
      3.) underbody panels easily coming off
      from light external forces
      4.)Truck favoring one side due to wheel misalignments. Which can be very annoying, needing to counteract the direction to stay on a line when offroading.
      my worries are really just for overlanding situations. Being an early adopter I can deal with misaligned panel gaps, buggy Nav system, other minor things, but the issues listed above can be a deal breaker for me.

    • @ChargeOverland
      @ChargeOverland  ปีที่แล้ว

      Appreciate the support! So far I haven’t had any issues other than my tonneau cover jamming up but I know that is a pretty common one. A few small issues I had early on were fixed with software updates. I’m hoping it continues to be as reliable as it has been!

    What do you think of the rock crawl and more intense off road capabilities? Not a having a great virtual locker on my R1T has led to some disappointing off roading near Cleghorn. What’s been your experience?

    • @ChargeOverland
      @ChargeOverland  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      So far I’ve only been on a few sections of trail that were somewhat challenging. Coming from a Rubicon Wrangler I will definitely say that the Rivian is very capable but you really have to continue pressing on the accelerator to get the computers to figure out the traction - much different than a traditional 4wd low range setup with lockers. Here’s hoping a virtual locker is added in a software update at some point!

    I have the max pack on reservation. How does the rivian compare to the Toyota Tacoma that’s in your video?

    • @ChargeOverland
      @ChargeOverland  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m actually thinking of doing a comparison video soon here because a few of the guys I normally go out with have Tacomas. There are many pros and cons to each!

    • @vinnym5095
      @vinnym5095 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ChargeOverland I can’t wait to see the comparison. Plus also there’s a huge price difference so I’d love to hear what your opinion is on it

    Really appreciate that you are including range figures in all your videos
    I recently did a trip to Anza Borrego and my planned fast charger was broken so I ended up having to leap frog between l2 chargers from Julian to Poway.

    • @ferdball
      @ferdball ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, we really need a fast charger in Julian or Santa Ysabel.

    Great vehicles but the 20 brights are the worst looking wheels and the least popular.

    Ngl this was very pedestrian. Would be cool to see more than dirt roads I could drive a sedan through

    • @ChargeOverland
      @ChargeOverland  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry to hear you felt that way! I was actually hoping this trail would provide a few more obstacles (OnXOffroad rating was a 4/10) but it proved to be a very easy trail. I also didn’t want to choose anything too challenging since it was my friends first time ever off roading. I’m hoping to get on some more challenging trails in the future. Thanks!
