    As an academic scientist, former top athlete, multiple member of the Olympic team of my country and former "musical prodigy", who gave his first concert with 9 years I am particularly impressed by those people who perform well in various fields. Not everyone can do the backflip, not everyone can juggle (even with 5 balls), not everyone plays the violin or masters skills on the skateboard - or plays the bumble bee, if not perfectly - and in such a short time. Please continue with your activities, you are a role model for my children, and that's why we have subscribed to you.

    the biggest challenge to learning this piece, is the burning patience you have to have with your fingers not wanting to go a hundred miles an hour. the wrist and arms should always be smooth and stress free. once you tense up, you need to slow down. the slower you go, the faster you'll learn. it would have been great if you would have worked on the dynamics of the piece from the beginning because even though you play it slow (which is amazing for 30 days) with good dynamic character it would bring it more to life.

  • @JSerrato289
    @JSerrato289 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I heard Torrent Etude by Chopin is super easy, you should try it!!

  • @alextryan
    @alextryan 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'll chime in about hand tension. I'm working on a Schubert piece that's begging to inflame/destroy my carpal tunnel, but I'm taking exquisite, exhausting care to learn those passages with zero tension in my hands, which is taking about 20x longer than it would to just force those passages with tense fingers. The real challenge of the bumblebee is to develop the suppleness to play the chromatic work with a quiet hand, which would take you years to really do well. I admit I'm tempted (and just ordered a copy of this) but I fear it will be years before I can do it any justice, and I'm an amateur but have played with an orchestra etc. We'll see....

  • @jessie2671
    @jessie2671 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I like how you had the dedication to do this everyday for a month, like many others that commented before it would be beneficial to your future videos if you remind yourself to relax when playing. Just like in sports, playing a musical instrument requires warming up and being attentive towards dynamics, articulation, phrasing and I reckon you did a pretty good job learning the notes! The next step of improvement would be to add in phrasing and dynamics - usually on sheet music it is labelled where the composer/editor wants you to express.

And the way he practiced will influence many people to do so and that’s really something they should avoid. So that he did it is nice, but the fact that he posted it , showing the way he practiced while he was not technically ready in front thousands of people should be blamed , because that may lead some of his subscribers to hurt themselves.

      There are some difficults songs that need to be learned at high speed, because some things don't work from down speed to high speed. I mean if you dont have some easyness to change the way you play your pieces, you will be stuck in a way of playing that won't let you put emotions or flow in your interpretatilns (General advice)

    Just a tip for anyone playing/starting piano, please do not do what he is doing, learning from synthesia is very bad not to mention very dangerous, also, get a teacher, PLEASE! just on the 3rd day he said that his arm started to seize up, this is do to bad technique and can lead to serious permanent damage, also, learn scales, if you know how to play a chromatic scale correctly you can learn this in piece in one day.

      People can learn piano however they want. Everyone has their own approach that all have strengths and drawbacks. I personally had a piano teacher for a while back when I was a kid, and it was shit. I wish I never had one. I didn’t learn anything that couldn’t have learned faster online.

      I do remember having a teacher. The teacher and piano were cool. Nothing else. The pieces I learned were shit. After my mom made me leave piano lessons for an unknown reason, I picked up piano a few years later. That was much better. Since I had the teacher for about a year, I knew most of the stuff you needed to know about sheet music. The basics like treble and bass. I didn’t learn a lot about sharps and flats, so I learned more about piano online. It was better than I imagined. I used some synthesia for a little while in the beginning, but I started to use sheets more, and I got better and better. It’s fun

    • @giraffodil436
      @giraffodil436 5 ปีที่แล้ว +28

      @@horationelson1840 Yeah okay, there isn't a single fully self taught pianist i know of that doesn't sound like actual garbage, what allows you to get better is working the stuff that is boring instead of trying to skip through all training of technique, reading sheets, intonation, scales and so on and just playing "insanely hard" pieces and sounding like trash. as i said before, if he knew scales, he would have learned this in a day, knowing even basic technique and knowing how to read sheets will let you progress and learn pieces much much faster, even if it seems slow and boring at first. Also, there is absolutely no advantage to learning without a teacher.

    • @giraffodil436
      @giraffodil436 5 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      @Benjamin Bogle - Pursuing Progress I am not at all mad, all i am saying is that getting a teacher is just about essential if you take music seriously, of course there will be some people who learn through the internet and sound alright, but having someone that knows what they are doing guiding will help so so much, as i said before, if he had actually been taught basic scales this would have been easy for him, i'm not mad about what he accomplished but as a classical musician i don't want these videos to be how piano is portrayed as it encourages a bad way of taking on music. i want people to succeed and learning pieces through synthesia is a terrible way to learn.
