- America's greatest living playwright, David Mamet, is interviewed by Eddie Muller at the Aero Theatre in Santa Monica upon being named a Modern Noir Master by the Film Noir Foundation. He discusses the noir influence in his work and his career as a writer and director of noir-stained movies. Recorded March 9, 2020.

Mamet is always an entertaining as well as enlightening interview.
Go read Mamet's BAMBI VS. GODZILLA. One of the best non-fiction accounts on Hollywood ever. Right up there with ADVENTURES IN THE SCREEN TRADE.

Talking about films being lumped into Noir. I would love to know Eddie's opinion of whether a Western could be (I say no way) a Film Noir.
"Blood on the Moon" is often referred to as such.
Just a great western starring a Noir icon in black and white, but with too many essential elements missing is what I think.

It's too difficult to hear Mamet to warrant continuing. What a shame.
Respect Dave but he always says odd things like he didn't quite get Eugene O' Neil or he didn't quite get Dashielle Hammet what's not to get in the masterpieces LongDaysJourneyIntoNight or The Maltese Falcon??!!!
