I am modding my Ender 3 S1 pro right now and want to do the same mods you did, at least for the motion components. What Brackets and linear rails did you use and did you custom make that carbon fiber bed mounting plate Or is that a retail item? I have been doing lots of research and trying to decide what bracket to get for my linear rail set up. I know I want hiwin rails but can’t decide on the mounting solution. I was looking at gulf coast robotics but they are expensive and would rather go with AliExpress since we are just talking about brackets. Hope you answer, great channel BTW! I am going to be building my own “100” very soon. I just want to have the ender 3 dialed before I print the parts for your masterpiece or a home build.
I'm more impressed by that ender 3 than the 100, I like the tiny ducts. And 135mm3/sec of flow is the highest I've heard quoted, maybe the Goliath is faster but I can't find good data
Because 135mm/s³ is BS, even with a 0.8mm nozzle. It likely isn't actually melting the plastic fully at that kind of flow rate, hence needing a larger nozzle. It's similar to how Phaetus markets the Rapido. In reality if you try to run actual full speed prints at that flow rate it'll under extrude.
I think your decisions about the bed size make 100% sense. That's why the v0 is so popular, even though it is even tinier than the 100 (maybe too tiny!). One question: is there enough space in the 100 to be able to mount an 18cm bed, like the prusa mini without too much work? It would be super cool to be able to use the prusa print plates, even if you can't print to the edge. I really like their satin sheet. Nice design! I've already shared with a few colleagues and we all agree, it looks sweet!
How do you cool the power supply and the mainboard ? Building a similar enclosure at the moment but i struggle with the cooling of the Electronics. The whole frame gets very hot when printing abs or PA for longer times
Hi Matt,Tall sky scaper buildings incorperate an active counter ballance wieght at the top of the building to cancel out motions from wind on the building. Have you considdered an active counter wieg that ballances the motion of the print head. I considdered making a core xy MACHINE THAT HAS A BED THAT ALSO MOVES OPPOSIT THE PRINT HEAD AND SET THE MOTORS TO TURE AT 25% SPEEDS FOR THE PRINT BED AND 75% SPEED FOR THE PRINT HEAD OR PROPORTIONALLY OF THE PRINT HEAD TO THE BED. YES ADDED COMPLEXITY BUT POSSIBILITY OF ADDING ACCELLERATION TO THE PRINT WHILE REDUCING VIBRATION

I'm looking into building my third printer. I've started with an Ender 3 Pro, bit the bullet on an RatRig VCore 3 (500mm) and want to venture into ABS / ASA printing a bit more. My first idea was to simply enclose my Ender 3. After seeing your 100 I was curious. Would it be possible to enclose your Design for ABS / ASA Printing or would you say thats not a smart idea? I'm also looking into "The Rocker" by ProperPrinting to add DualExtrusion to my Ender3... Maybe that in combination with an Enclosure would be even better than a third printer... Maybe you could give me some Input. Thanks for reading ^-^
Soo currently there is no mod of THE 100 for a enclosure, but the construction with it's cubic design is made for an enclosure, so you could be the one that contributes that extension to the printer.
Hey Matt, thanks for the video. I have one question about your ender 3 upgrades, what is that printed part between the linear rail and the 2020 extrusion on the X axis?
The speeds are pretty low, a mix of 180/120/140 for Infill and inner/outer perimeter. As layer height 0.65 and a line with between 0.8 and 1.3mm. Don't forget, it's not magic, it's a 0.8 nozzle ;-P
I was trying to do some math on the 135mm^3/s and how long it would take to print 1KG of PLA at that, here is my quick attempt: 1 KG PLA spool has 330 meters Each 1meter has 2405mm^3 So 1KG PLA spool has 808500mm^3 of volume At 135mm^3/s it takes 5988 seconds or 1.6 hours to melt 1KG of PLA. That's quite a lot of flow, I'm also skeptical that the dual 5015 blower fans are enough to cool filament melting at 135mm^3/s.
Yeah that would happen on ideal conditions, which means every perimeter has to be printed with the same speed, you need have to have infinite acceleration, so in reality the flow is reached only for tiny amount of time until it get's slowed down. Therefore more realistic would be 5-6 hours for 1kg of filament. The cooling is no problem, since we are printing "very slow". I use this printer for big structural parts where I have layer times between 10-20 sek so the layers have more than enough time to cool down
It's my custom design that I never released since it's not compatible with normal enders, you need linear rails and you need the pcb board.. also another hotend and another extruders.. so instead spending over 500 bugs in a bad printer, consider buying a good one ;-)
Well, I already a owner of the orbiter and a dragon hottend, and a pair of Sunon 5015 and noctua 4010…. and I didn’t t have an ender3, just interested in a lightweight toolholder.. for my own little printer, nothing comparable to ur project, just some afterwork hobby 😂thought u used one which is available for use or to customize. But thx for ur answer. Keep on going, maybe I try the100😊
A 5 min benchy is realistic. Check out my THE 100 Army playlist, there you see all benchy prints of the community. The average of a serial number request is about 6 min
As a small piece of advice, be sure that everyone knows what you are talking about, for example in the question about the 100 I knew that you were talking about your printer but not everyone might get it
Have you experienced creep in your PLA? My old PLA parts are generally visibly deformed after a couple years even with little or no load. I printed a spool holder that was strong at first but eventually failed (to be fair, i could have printed it with more initial strength if i had known about creep). If so, have you tried annealing your PLA? What's the oldest printer you have with PLA structural parts?
4-5 years build extensions for my bedslingers that are still perfectly fine as long as you keep them in a controlled environment like your apartment. I had printed PLA hooks for my balcony and those I had to exchange after 2 winters because of deformation.

Yeah the Goliath makes over 100mm³ flow with a 0.4 nozzle so you're comparing apples to oranges

THIS WOULD REDUCE PRINT BED SIZE UNFORTUNATELY
I am planing to Build The100. Because it is small. Most Parts for My Projekt are smaller than 100x100. Print quality is important to me.
I'm curious if you have noticed downsides of moving the extruder stepper motor off of the S1's printhead.

Spacers. They are needed to keep the same belt path as on the original printer
Is that the Moder board from Nathan builds robots?

As far as I know there is no kit available for the Ender 3 S1 the linear rail construction was custom designed by me for this printer.
