The most dominant DB I've seen in college. I wasn't into football when Ed Reed and Sean Taylor were at Miami or when Roy Williams was at OU. There gave been some great collegiate DBs (Peterson and Mathieu at LSU and Ramsey at FSU) since but Berry was ridiculous those first two years. Seemed like every week he grabbed a pick and returned it for big yardage. His role changed his third year and he had to play closer to the line but he was still a beast.
Crazy thing is i played HS ball against him and he was actually the starting QB moreso than a defensive player. He was a lamar Jackson type of QB and he sliced and diced us up the field. That's why he's so good at yards on the interceptions.
Every once in a while a guy comes along that the football gods smile upon. Berry was one of those guys. It was a pure joy to have him play at Tennessee. There were much better teams in the SEC at that time. Berry helped keep us in a lot of those games.
Went to middle school and high school with EB.. we used to call him EZ6.. I hate it his career was cut short due to cancer 😢😢 he was a for sure hall of famer in the making. 😔
Confession: Roll Tide. One of the few Vols I enjoyed watching play ball. Even when he was playing us. He always had it turned up to 11 (edit: should have used 14 here). Fairly certain he had weighted shoulder pads or a couple of bricks in his back pocket (edit: or both). #14 was a football player.
He had some instincts that nobody could have coached. He just knew where the ball was going before the QB threw it and his willingness to throw 100% into every tackle made him a scary dude
He was a 2x unanimous All American, 2x unanimous first team All SEC, 2008 SEC defensive player of the year and the 2009 Jim Thorpe award winner for best defensive back in the nation. Berry got plenty of recognition
@@Chvyz I get what you're saying. But Tennessee's downfall began around then and nobody gave af about them, thus why he was never put in a conversation about the Heisman. But I still think he was better than Tyrann Mathieu and Jabrill Peppers
To me this is the best All Around Safety I’ve ever seen play in college. Sean & Ed were bad ass but EB played against WAYYY better competition, could do everything they could & was way more active around the los. If he played free safety exclusively he coulda had 25 ints
Thank you so much. Keep with the great work. Could you please make in the near future college highlights videos of Vinny Testaverde (The U), Michael Irvin (The U), Gino Torretta (The U), Jessie Armstead (The U), Darrin Smith (The U), Micheal Barrow (The U), Lamar Thomas (The U), Rusty Medearis (The U) & Carson Palmer (USC)?
One of best athletes I've ever seen come through UT. A fantastic player from Day 1, it may be a very long time before we see a player like that again.
LSU FAN HERE: He was the greatest to do a thing.
Eric and his brothers and father all gave their all for Tennessee! Truly my favorite player in Tennessee history EB14
Grew up with them boys and legit not a Tennessee fan, but there time at Tennessee was definitely a great time to be CFB fan

11:13 Eric berry was catching all these amazing interceptions with NO GLOVES… Now ladies and Gentlemen that’s a REAL FOOTBALL PLAYER!!!
This spin at 5:11 is insane to be running full speed to spin like that an not fall down..he was an absolute animal go vols

Y'all kept a squad at Creekside
he always played QB & safety ?
Give it time, I think he’ll eventually get in.
Came back from cancer and still balled. Berry is an all time great.
My goat

I'm from Tuscaloosa so I obviously pull for Bama but Eric Berry Is the best DB I've ever seen him and Antonio Langham

Oh how i miss you Mr.Berry
U can give yourself a great job on this one . Perfect
Awesome video. Thanks for posting.
He was that guy
ERIC BERRYY 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Most underrated cfb player of all time. If he played at a big time school (meaning good at the time) he’d have more recognition
He was a 2x unanimous All American, 2x unanimous first team All SEC, 2008 SEC defensive player of the year and the 2009 Jim Thorpe award winner for best defensive back in the nation. Berry got plenty of recognition
@@HTXREP I’m talking heisman, like honey badger or Jabril Peppers talk.

Most ignorant statement I’ve read in a while
He didn't have Heisman recognition because look at the players who won and got votes
Dude was in a stacked era
-- I'm wondering which N.F.L. team gets Eric Berry this upcoming football season

If he played free safety he would have killed a lot of folks.
He was awesome, reminded me of Terri Fair
Jonathan Heffney was a Unit also
Still my goat

Career cut too short
He played kill the man with the ball and nvr lost.. my guy.. inky boys
Watching in 2024 and hoping Boo Carter can be just half as electric as Berry was, if so...LOOK OUT!
Man Tim Tebow got nothing against this dawg
Brian urlacher
Football was wayy better back in these days these dudes were trying to kill eachother
His #14 should be retired.
