There are so many big expenses at Christmas, along with all of our usual expenses too! It's always a good idea to budget - and try to spread the cost over a few months - So maybe start to save a bit each month and set it aside for Christmas, and plan out how much you will be spending on each thing.
One of the biggest costs is food - We all go overboard and buy loads of delicious chocolatey, fancy, festive treats, but these really add up. Supermarkets love to bump up the prices for regular items, but put them in lovely gold and red packaging - so that we spend double, sometimes triple the regular price! So be mindful of how much you are forking out on your Christmas goodies, and only buy what you actually need. Food waste is a big problem in December, as we all love to overindulge and overspend, but really most of it goes to waste!
Alcohol is another biggie - booze is really pricey, and you probably spend way more than you think on it. If you budget in advance for how much you want to spend on alcohol, and then stick to it - you will probably be shocked at how quickly you spend it! From buying in beer & wine, to going out for meals & drinking - We spend enormous amounts of money on alcohol, which can be reduced by buying cheaper brands, shopping around, or drinking single measures rather than doubles - or just cutting it out!
Gifts - there are loads of different ways that you can reduce your gifting costs, from shopping in charity shops, to using up old vouchers - or re-gifting! Being savvy with your present buying can make a big difference to your wallet at Christmas.
Another thing is to not put too much pressure on yourself to make Christmas perfect - after all it is only one day, and theres always next year? People spend thousands and thousands every year trying to make this one day amazing, and comparing themselves to people on social media. Its really sad to see how many people get so stressed about Christmas, and it really doesn't need to be that bad, I usually feel much better for doing Christmas on a budget; as I have less guilt for how much money I have spent!
I hope that you find this video useful, and that these tips can help you save money!

My friend and I have christmas diaries that we use year after year and buy all next year's Christmas prezzys in the Jan sales. Write them in the diary and who they're for and there's our bought prezzys for next christmas. We've done it this way for years and it's saved us a fortune.
