This version is much better than the original she should have performed it on the hmt ,but you can tell it’s the demo because some parts are kinda weird
I know your comment is six years ago but I'd like to add some insight why I even think this remix exist. When Cashmere Cat started getting more into stricter labels, they needed something to resonate with the casual audience, this "remix" was probably the first demo and I hear Cashmere cat all over it versus the original which has a taste of a mainstream sound. Why I think this theory holds weight is because I also started working with different artists to see these kind of restrictions. I met a RnB singer, no one big like Ariana and this singer buys her beats on the common websites you'd find. I don't mind recreating beats but the catch is that I have to flip it to how I PERSONALLY want it. That being said, she had a project she wanted me to recreate in which I did but I added my spice which defines me. She didn't necessarily like it and I had to strip it down quite a bit, actually nearly identical to what she originally wanted. Although the project I did, I GENUINELY think it's better than what she wanted. She being the "client" I decided whatever but when she finishes the song and gives me the dry takes, I'm going to definitely make the version I liked. After six years, I still return to this song because it has a lot of soul in it and it's better than modern Ariana. imho. I like soulful Arianna than thank you next. But that being said, she's just a great singer but Cashmere Cat carried her here.
@taylorxedits-yk8yt eh, that's not the point. If you ever made something and only to be told from a third party that they don't like it but you feel strongly for it then I can see why you'd think otherwise. I like the original but cashmere's edit feels and sounds better in its musical perspective.
If any lurkers that come back to this song, here's why I think Cashmere made this edit: When Cashmere Cat started getting more into stricter labels, they needed something to resonate with the casual audience, this "remix" was probably the first demo and I hear Cashmere cat all over it versus the original which has a taste of a mainstream sound.

i know it's a matter of preference about liking a song. But for someone that hears this song as not in the category of their "Hum" and press dislikes toward it, I am curious as to why?

This one sound like Cashmere Cat feat Ariana Grande not Ariana Grande Feat Cashmere Cat but I love both version
totally preferred this than the one on the album : ( this should've been a single
low key would've preferred if this version came out
lol I remember when Cashy teased this so much
