I agree with all of the comments from earlier. Let me add, I enjoy the audio of your video, especially the bird song in the background. Part of why we love the outdoors, I’m sure.
Bought a rod for nymphing of this guy 2 years ago, safe to say watching his vids on nymphing and buying the rod has worked out well, caught many trout since.
Great demo! I use them on a Tenkara rod and they are very good especially when the water is cold or a a little high and the fish stay deep between the rocks. Good on grayling too . I usally start the session with a classic futsu kebari and a perdigon on the tip so I know quite quickly where the fish ar feeding.
Great video!! I just started tying perdigons and am excited to try them out. I'm equally impressed with your fly reel as I haven't seen anyone use an automatic since the 50's. I still have my Miracle which I got used when I was a kid and it still works perfectly. Where I fish in the Eastern High Sierra the trout are small enough that you don't need a drag reel as you fight those fish off the reel!!
I have an automatic. I lost a rainbow because i had brain freeze when i stretched my rod back and extended my only to realize the line was too far out by about four inches, to net him. I looked at the reel, lowered my rod tip and lost him.
Hi Rich, thanks for the kind words, yes my chest pack has 5 fly boxes, all my spools of tippet, spare gink, permits, spare Tapered leaders, camera and some sweets, hope this helps 😁
Good day. Awesome video. I have been trying this nymphing, But i keep getting stuck to stuff, Rocks, reeds, stumps, grass ext, Because of the uneveness of the bottom of the river. For that reason i always though me flies being to heavy. but now videos like these suggest otherwise. How come you lads that make these video's never get stuck. Also if i use a dry fly as a indicator the nymph like these would pull it down
Hi Keith, use polarised glass so see the definition of the riverbed to avoid some of those obstacles, the funny thing is trout like to hide around them ,to prevent snagging judge the depth and when you thing your nymphs are near the bottom move your rod with the flow so it hangs your nymphs at the right depth as they go with the flow
Great vid mate, real red letter day. I am very new to euro nymphing, may i ask what your leader set up is?? Every man and his dog, tells me something different, but you have just proved yours works! Thanks again for video. Cheers from Australia!
@@tainflyfishing9302 Thank you, what weight mono or carbon euro leader? I should have ask more, specific question. I got the tippet , tippet rings and indictor!
Hi there sorry for the extreme late reply, the brand is mavardi, I'm not sure of the full lenght but it is bigger than a regular landing net,it's easier to land them in a bigger net, thanks fir the kind words, regards eamonn
Hi there, there's a few reasons, you are only fishing onfront of you so no need for the flyline to cast the nymphs far when you have more control when they are close to you, then also a leader is thinner than a flyline and the leader sags less outside the tip and more of a direct connection to the nymphs ,Hope this helps
Hi Scott, thanks for the kind words, the leader I use is a euro nymphing leader i have on my website www.tainflyfishing.com . Nymphing can take abit of getting use to because the setup is so light,
@@tainflyfishing9302 thanks for getting back to me your very welcome I will give it a look rivers are on their knees here in Ayrshire Scotland just now need a bit of rain!
Yes there from my shop, the size is 2.5 slotted, I have them in various weights for different depths , I like the slotted on regular hooks because tgey are heavier than counter sunk,
Clearly it's working but I notice slack in the line on your rod, so I presume you're striking based on sighting alone, not feel. I'm totally new to this so am trying to absorb as much info as possible.
Hi Paul, yea I'm working on sight there ,there would still be slight bit of feel because the line still crosses the tip of the rod ,I'm also anticipating a take, all my senses are hightened
Hi Liam, the fly is just fluorescent fire orange and black thread with coc de Leon for the tail.i was using 2.5 mm I use them alot throughout the season
@@tainflyfishing9302 thanks for rapid response where I fish has mainly four foot plus depth anda good flow requiring heavy enough flies 3mm to get down but yes slim flies are a help getting to the business end of things

Thanks fir the kind words 👌 the birds are really nice alright
Great little video, like James I'd love a little look at the perdigons. Keep her lit
Hi Ray, thanks for kind words, I'll try and get something put together to show you guys 👍👍

Hi Dean, perdigons are so effective, yes those reels are amazing for this type of fishing ,thanks for watching, best regards Eamonn

You make it look so easy! Great angling as always. You have perfected the art of euro nymphing. If only watching the videos could improve my own🤣🤣🎣
Thanks very much Carl for the kind words, just keep practicing and you will succeed 👍👍
Same I bought a rod and I love it. Tain has some good deals up now
Thanks for the kind words 👍👍
Hi from Kildare angler. Some nice fishing there. Where can I buy perdigons and flys here in Ireland. Buying from the OK is getting too expensive
Hi Patrick, thanks for the kind words, I could tie some for you of you are stuck, email me tainflyfishing@gmail.com for more details
Nice video one thing between the rod tip and your hand you have some line slack, is this an issue with takes or bites .
Hi Robert, thanks for your kind words, I don't find it to be an issue, I still connect with fish ok,
Thank you for the quality videos. Lots of GREAT information. My question has to do with the huge chest pack you wear. What all do you carry in it?
Hi Rich, thanks for the kind words, yes my chest pack has 5 fly boxes, all my spools of tippet, spare gink, permits, spare Tapered leaders, camera and some sweets, hope this helps 😁

You seem to get them ear or at the end of the drift. That's my experience most of the time as well. Great clip and good advice. Thanks. :-)
Thanks for the kind words, yea I have noticed them taking it when it hits the water or chasing it down then grabbing it,👍👍
Great video, Never fished perdigon thinks about time I tied some up any colour stands out
Hi Neil, thanks for the kind words, use some florescent fire orange in your tags and they should help
Can you use this lure year round and can you fish them in still water and just slow pull them in
Great video Eamonn, plenty of action. 😀
Thanks Phil 👌👌
What a lovely spot plenty of fish thanks 🤝 for the tips and what a nice fish to and the video with big like from me bud tight lines 👌
Thanks
Great going you need to give us a look at those perdigons i never done well with them.👍
Hi James, I tried to do a fly tying video but my camera is terrible for fly tying, I will try to get a close up of them for you, regards Eamonn
Hello, can I ask about the action of the rod Aftma, and the reel, thanks
Hi pavel ,the rod is a medium action rated 2/3 the action is nice and soft ,the reel is an automatic fly reel regards Eamonn
Great vid mate, real red letter day. I am very new to euro nymphing, may i ask what your leader set up is?? Every man and his dog, tells me something different, but you have just proved yours works! Thanks again for video. Cheers from Australia!
Hi there ,thanks for your kind words ,my leader set up is a euro leader then bicolour indicator and then 0.10 tippet with two nymphs roughly 18 apart

Thanks Mel 👍👍
Nice work ! What brand /model of net are you using here? What is total net length? Thank you Tain, the best videos, awesome rods!

new fly fisher here; why such a long leader? is that particular to nymphing?

Bead size? The ones from your shop?

That water seems to have a bit of colour in it. Was this after rain?
Hi John, yes it was a day or after rain I thought it would be abit clearer, it helped conceal my presence
very nice place! top angling :)
Great video
Thank you 😀
I can't really see your line ,are you feeling a tsp or a good pull or is your line just stopping (hesitating)
Hi Russell, I'm watching for the line to stop or shoot, and also feel
Nice action! I notice your not high sticking and therefore relying on your indicator.
Thanks fir your kind words

What type indicator are you using
Hi Russell, I'm just using our own brand indicator tippet, it's on our website www.tainflyfishing.com/store/c18/Tapered_Leaders.html
Couldn't see the flies and you told us what colours the beads were but you didn't mention what size they were for the depth of water you were fishing
