You two tricked me!!! I had no idea that you would get this edited and uploaded so soon. It's 6.30am here in Grantham, England and I have my coffee to watch the video with. Perfect way to start my Saturday!!! Thanks guy's.
This was frikin' awesome! Super entertaining and informative. I remember sitting through some Mary Lou Retton exercise crap on t.v. just so I wouldn't miss any of the Droids and Ewoks cartoons on Saturday morning.
Yup, I remember those days all too well, trying to get out EVERY last bit of Star Wars possible before what seemed to be the inevitable "dark times"...GREAT memories/nostalgia, and yeah, some interesting creative choices made, and I'm SO glad you included the seeming parallels to what was to come in the PT and such (as well as that Kybo Ren character, ha). But yeah, kudos to Kenner for keeping the fire burning with what they had for as long as they could, toy-wise, it was a day long remembered to be sure. EXCELLENT video, RB...REALLY looking forward to the second part! #BlastOn
Los felicito por tan buen trabajo, se nota que se documentan bastante antes de realizar cualquiera de los videos y las presentaciones en las convenciones, sigan adelante.
Was that Warwick Davis voicing Wicket? Kinda sounds like a younger version of him. BTW, I got myself an Ewok Battle Wagon, which is still a pretty awesome toy & holds up today. Hasbro should've rereleased it when they came out w/their Vintage Collection line of toys, some of which were Vintage Collection versions of the Ewoks from the cartoon show (Princess Neela, for instance) & Wicket w/his green hood (from Season Two).
Jeff Jacobson - I see. So was the voice actor doing an imitation of Warwick Davis? I don't think he had done Willow yet, had he? If so, how would he know how Davis sounded like?
From clever Ewoks to unstoppable Clone Wars, it's awesome to brighten the light side, no matter the "dark" elements of each animated entry into "a Galaxy far, far away". Stay safe everyone!
Interesting little fact about Droids, it was originally set 25 years before the events of AHN and yet the Empire and the rebellion are in existence at that time also, Thal Jobin mentioned something about his father fighting in the Clone Wars and he pulled out a yellow bladed lightsaber at one point. So I always had it in mind that the Clone Wars took place a long time before Obi-Wan ever meet Luke or the droids and that it had to have been a titanic war with long reaching effects on most of the galaxy.....and then Lucas changed all that to what it is today.
georgeowain I haven’t seen the episodes in years, but don’t they steal some of its major components? I’m not trying to be contradictory, I’m legitimately curious.
Very interesting. I used to avidly watch Droids and Ewoks back in the 80s on BBC1. I hadn't realised that season 2 of the Ewoks had become more Muppet Babies/Care Bears/Raccons/etc in style (not seen those episodes in years) and I COMPLETELY forgot about the Droids theme song. It did used to bug me that Artoo Detoo would bend and flex - I know it's a cartoon, and he's a main character with no actual dialog or body language so to speak, but it was often goofy - his head flying off his body, stuff like that. I've got the early 2000s DVD releases, so I'll have to rewatch. Completely forgot that one of the bad guys was Kybo Ren too. But then again, there's a character called Mace Windu (or something very similar) in one of the expanded universe short stories books, Tales from the Mos Eisley Cantina/Bounty Hunters/Jabba's Palace. And the older brother in the Ewoks live action movies was also called Mace. So there's definitely a precedent for Lucas reusing names. Caravan of Courage got a cinema release here in the UK. (As did the pilot episodes of Battlestar Galactica and Buck Rogers in the 25th Century). Oh - and there's more images of Nelvana's take on Doctor Who out there on the internet. Being British, and of a certain age, Doctor Who was the first thing I ever saw on TV, and I was hooked. For some reason, one of the designs Nelvana were thinking of using made the Doctor look like Egon Spengler from the Real Ghostbusters. With question marks. And K9 had tank tracks. So did the Daleks. And Bessie (the 3rd Doctor's Edwardian-style car) could fly. Yeah. And some fans complain about the TV movie and the 2005 revival onwards. Between the Nelvana ideas, and the abandoned versions of the TV movie, with the spirit of the Doctor's grandfather inhabiting the TARDIS, on a quest to find Ulysses, the Doctor's father; some people don't know how lucky they are to have missed those versions.
I actually like watching the Ewoks cartoons, although it may not be related but I'm a bit surprised no one mentioned the live action Ewoks TV movies. I remember it being shown hers in theaters, and I really wanted to watch it as a kid but I was too young to go I guess.
I remember reading somewhere that Droids was cancelled after the first season because the changing environments made the budget for the show much higher than the Ewoks, who never left Endor. Which I guess could explain why there were so many similarities in the environments in Droids. It was an attempt to keep the budget under control. I actually liked the Ewoks cartoon as a kid and it seemed like it was really gaining steam to become something great by the end of the first season; but then it got dumbed down in the second season and that kind of ruined everything for me.
I actually preferred the second season of Ewoks theme tune, the original sounds pretty morbid lol. I did like the Raich, Warrior and a Lurdo and Hard Sell episodes in season 2.
Sadly, Lucasfilm could've had Tokyo Movie Shinsha (the company that animated Akira) animate the 80s Star Wars cartoons. TMS produced a short demo animation that has never been publicly seen. th-cam.com/video/xqaFppb3y-U/w-d-xo.html
So, the Ewok's lives are dependent upon the soul trees, but there are huts and other structures made of wood as they are a primitive culture...One would hope that there are other trees to cut and burn out there, unless that's how they mete out punishment to Ewok criminals...Or I could just be overthinking a show I watched when I was 9,lol. I actually prefer the season 2 theme over season 1.
I can't believe that the room wasn't packed! Love this stuff, and the way you two present it! Thanks!
It was scheduled right at the tail end of the big parade, so no one was around sadly.
You two tricked me!!! I had no idea that you would get this edited and uploaded so soon. It's 6.30am here in Grantham, England and I have my coffee to watch the video with. Perfect way to start my Saturday!!! Thanks guy's.

i love the ewoks and i remember that more than the the droid cartoon,it would be nice to see a video on the live action ewok movies one day.
I love the intro to the first season of Ewoks! I admit it without shame!
My favorite part of The Holiday Special was Bea Arthur singing in the Cantina.
Great panel, guys. Thanks for putting these up.
I love Droids and Ewoks. I still watch them to this day!
This was frikin' awesome! Super entertaining and informative. I remember sitting through some Mary Lou Retton exercise crap on t.v. just so I wouldn't miss any of the Droids and Ewoks cartoons on Saturday morning.
Great overview. I had an audio teacher who worked on droids in Vancouver lol no one else in the class knew what it was.
108 views in 13 minutes! Way to go guys!
+Soterion Coil thanks!

Dang, I always loved ewoks. Loved 'em then, love 'em now! Super cute!
You do know that they ATE the stormtroopers on Endor, right?
Los felicito por tan buen trabajo, se nota que se documentan bastante antes de realizar cualquiera de los videos y las presentaciones en las convenciones, sigan adelante.

No, it's not Davis. (Note that Wicket now has a Canadian accent.) Davis auditioned for the role, but he didn't get it.
Jeff Jacobson - I see. So was the voice actor doing an imitation of Warwick Davis? I don't think he had done Willow yet, had he? If so, how would he know how Davis sounded like?
Dang but that Stewart Copeland intro song is catchy! I need to listen to some Police/Devo/Sparks/Oingo Boingo now!
i'm really looking forward to see what Retroblasting thinks about both TCW series and Rebels...
I became a Star Wars fan while watching the Holiday Special! It does hurt when I hear that Lucas doesn’t like it and wished it was gone forever.

"Rock & Rule" looks interesting make me think of Fire & Ice, Im going to check that out.
Was that the junck man
Lovely stuff guys :)
great video
Actually the Trigon 1 was built by the Fromm Gang, not stolen.
georgeowain I haven’t seen the episodes in years, but don’t they steal some of its major components? I’m not trying to be contradictory, I’m legitimately curious.
so in the last episode of Ewoks we are reminded that it is still Star Wars. makes sense. so is Ewoks as a while better than Droids or vice versa
And remember that some rejected vehicles for the original trilogy were then used in the prequels.
Aren't the droids main characters

Umm....there's a whole slide about the Ewoks movies in this video....Did you check out for 60 seconds?
Geez, you're right, haha totally missed that part!
People applauded for the Star Wars Holiday Special, it's horrible. I loved this panel.

I don't understand the hate for the Ewoks.
I actually preferred the second season of Ewoks theme tune, the original sounds pretty morbid lol. I did like the Raich, Warrior and a Lurdo and Hard Sell episodes in season 2.
Great stuff! Yub Yub!
call me weird but I loved Ewoks even when I was a teen and even now as an adult. I just like animal cartoons. LOL.

This video was Too Droidy for my tastes. Cant we get some dancing peanuts or something in there? Maybe we can rastify them 20%
Ewoks a pariah?! Ummmm, what?! Nope!
