To me, the fact that Shane postponed publishing the third part of the series to make changes to the editing - even though he could've said something like "Oh, I've already edited the video before seeing any of this, so you know, maybe next time?" - shows how much he cares. Also, I'm really happy that I've found your channel (which was pretty random, considering that I don't even follow Shane on Twitter)!
he just tweeted that no matter what he does a group of people are going to be upset be it the mental health community, people who hate jake etc! so i think he realized he don't have to please everyone he is an entertainer not a doctor or a mental health advocate
Well, it'd be pretty hard to please everyone with a series about a very controversial figure - on the internet nonetheless. I've personally enjoyed the series so far. But the editing was just a bit too much - it took away from the incredible work he put into this series, and made it feel like a silly conspiracy theory video - and some people would end up treating it as such.
@@pixieluvv I dont think you can really compare the mental health community and people who like jake paul. While his video can upset jake Paul's fans the video reinforced negative stereotypes about mental health and actively damages it. I am a huge fan of shane so I dont thibk it was deliberate but I dont think you can really compare the two:)
I clicked because I was interested in Shane's series but I subscribed because you seem so genuinely interesting and lovely! You're one of those people who I would watch regardless of topic.
omg this is the kindest comment! i'm brainstorming video topics and was feeling a bit stressed, but i'm so happy to hear your support :') i will try my best! thank you! xo
a therapist comes to me every 14 days or so because i have Asperger and anxiety issues from bullying all throughout school. And i love therapists that have empathy. It's super hard to open up to someone who doesnt seem empathetic i find. I trust almost no one so it needs to be a "soft" person to speak to, to be able to get any progress.
I think you are so well spoken, especially about mental health. I think possibly some of Shane’s fans were quick to defend the first couple parts of his series and took things out of context. Shane even said that your video was eye opening and wasn’t an attack on him! I’m interested in learning more about mental health from you and learning how we can destigmatize mental illness. I’m a grad student and I work with a lot of students so I want to be able to help the, if they come to me with mental health concerns! Keep up the great work - love hearing your voice!
hi kirsten, thank you so much for your comment! i know i was so nervous when i saw that he had tweeted! if he had said anything negative i feel like i would have been bombarded with so much hate! i've noted your suggestion, specifically on de-stigmatizing mental illness! ah grad student, awesome! i miss school haha thank you so much for your support
Girl, you and shane shouldnt have to keep explaining yourselves continuosly to stupid people who make comments. Both of you gave disclaimers, explained your viewpoints multiple times and were very nice about the criticism. If people still are upset at this point, either they dont know how to read or they're on this platform solely to hate and spread negativity
Andy I agree with you, but for me it is not ok to say “you shouldn’t have to keep explaining yourself continuously to stupid people”, people are free to comment their opinions,?you can’t call them stupid when they are expressing themselves
Suggestion! :) Maybe talk about the differences between a mood disorder and a personality disorder? Or dive deeper into personality disorders, for example, explaining the differences/similarities/potential overlaps between Cluster A, Cluster B and Cluster C?
Rafaelina Koumpari ~ Agree!!! Added it all seems to begin in childhood. What are things to look for and or signs that would be a cause of concern to go to a professional. When it's more than just a mood! That was a great suggestion, you worded it perfectly. 😉
oooh such an interesting suggestion! I've noted it, i plan on going into personality disorders for SURE. i gotta get back into my books to make sure i can be as clear as possible but i'm super excited to put those videos together! thank you so much for your suggestion! xo
A head's up: On the mobile app, it's easier for viewers to see comments than the main video description-especially if they're the type to scroll down and type their own reaction before actually watching your video. I recently figured that out. This explains why I've seen more creators comment and then pin their own comments when they want to get key points across to viewers. So, best to put disclaimers and such both in the description AND in a pinned comment. Also, lovely soul, it's okay to ignore comments when the commenters clearly either (a) didn't watch the video at all before they commented or (b) were so blinded by their own emotional response that they couldn't actually hear your words and intentions. Sometimes, people just need to vent, and they can't hear others' perspectives until they're done venting, if ever. If they're completely off base, another commenter will, more often than not, inform them of this. Unfortunately, many people online don't know how to give a balanced reaction to anything. Combining criticism with respect is a foreign idea, which often means (a) that their comments are one-sided and emotion-based, often ignoring a lot of context, and (b) they assume others who have any critiques at all must be spewing hate. This is too bad, not only because of how such people react to videos like yours, but also because their own critiques will fall on deaf ears, no matter how right they are, if they can't present them in a more approachable way. I find it relatively easy to roll with things online, be it Shane's editing that I'm sure didn't represent all of what he actually knows and feels about people with ASPD, negative reactions, or defensive reactions. This means that, while I felt uncomfortable with some of how his video presented sociopaths, I didn't get worked up about it. In fact, I had a hard time understanding those who reacted more explosively. My insensitivity led me to tweet something I regretted, something not nearly as well-balanced as your videos. Which leads me to the next paragraph... I relate to what you said about the surprise of getting views after Shane tweeted your video. He liked one of my tweets about Part 2 of the Jake Paul series, which led to much more attention than I expected or wanted on Twitter-especially since I wrote the tweet at 3:30 am, when I wasn't thinking super clearly. So it wasn't a well-balanced thread. But I wrote what I wanted without much filter, thinking that only a fraction of my 320 or so followers would see it. I tagged Shane Dawson, yes, but only because I like links to the people being talked about-not because I hoped he'd notice me. Whoops. So much for the freedom I thought I had with my small following. I ended up muting the conversation, adding a couple of clarifying statements to the thread, and then leaving it alone for people to like, retweet, discuss, and vent at as they wished. My belief is that heated comments aren't so much directed at someone in hope of a response or discourse. Rather, those comments are actually people using an internet as a journal, a place to explode with emotion. And we're rarely obliged to respond. It's freeing to recognize that.
ohh thank you for sharing your own experience with me! i was really more nervous and excited when i saw that he has tweeted me! just knowing about how the internet works (as you stated above), i was thinking i would be dragged! your comment that we are not obliged to respond is really eye-opening! thank you! with the craziness of the past few days i was stressing out about responding to everyone, but this mentality is definitely freeing for sure. oh and thanks for tge heads up! i'm still learning for sure so i appreciate it greatly :) xo
You're welcome! Your day job includes plenty of listening to people and helping them straighten out twisted thoughts and feelings-and they actually pay you to do so, which means that most of them want to listen to you (or want to want to listen, at least). No need to stress out about it here, too, where people may not actually be interested in learning about others' perspectives. :) As for me, I've been anxious enough already. I'm not going take on the added stress of trying to make people online perfectly understand me-especially when the number of people who see and can misunderstand my words shoots up from 300 to 460,000. My mental health can't take the strain. So, just like I try to do offline, I set boundaries that will protect my health. I suspect this kind of boundary setting is very familiar to you as a therapist-you just don't usually have to advise your clients and yourself on how to deal with a sudden spike in comments on social media. ;)
I just wish the therapist who was in Shane's series would have given him that education. I mean the average person won't know how to cover aspd, but she should...
I'd like to learn more about different types of mental illness, and how people can cope with them and what they need to do each day to overcome their battles.
hi! your suggestion has been noted (like literally, just wrote it in my notebook hahaha), thank you so much for watching and your recommendation as well i truly appreciate it :) xo
As a new subscriber, I just love how calm you are about this! I can imagine it isn't easy to suddenly deal with so many new people and comments, especially when people also seem to be attacking you when you (in my opinion) made such a down to earth video! I love the idea of seeing you talk more about mental illnesses and see your thoughts on the rest of the series :D
hii! ooh it has been a really wild past few days for sure! i definitely plan on making more MH related videos! i;m so happy that something that i am so passionate about is also something that a lot of people want to hear about! yay! thank you so much for joining me along in my ~journey~ ahaha xo
I just want to say I have been hunting all day for info on antisocial personality disorder cus I did see in many comments that people said it functions on a spectrum with varying nuances and I'm so glad you cover this in this video ahh. 💞
I came from Shane and really liked your response to his episodes. I felt very similar about the depiction of psychopaths in his video, I know for sure that it wasn't intentional or anything but I liked that you cleared up some things that weren't mentioned or wasn't clear in the episodes. I'd love to hear you talk more in depth about psychology and mental health, I find the topic fascinating and I like how you talk about the topic and how much you care about it.
thank you for your comment! i've noted your recommendations and omg yeah i care so much about all this, i'm just so excited to research and pump out more videos on mental health! xo
Please keep making your self help/self care/self development vids ! You give really good advice and come across as very caring and I found the videos on self love and self care really helpful! Xxx much love!
ohh yay! those were some of my favorite videos to make because i care seriously so so much - i will definitely note to make more future videos on self care/self help advice! thank you for the suggestion! xo
I loved that you turned your empathy into something positive. I was picked on for being too sensitive and pretty much bottled up my emotions for years after that. Now I'm stuck trying to unpack years of emotional baggage.
no... i'm sorry you went through that. i got picked on a lot too because i've always been "too sensitive" :/ you're not alone! there's nothing wrong with who you are. something that helped me a lot is kind of turning my POV around regarding what society considered to be my "weakness". sometimes what people say is your weakness can be your biggest strength! sending all love and positive vibes xo
I really liked your first video about this series, and this one too. I love the way you talk clearly about matters and leave nothing unattended! I'd love to see more reactions to the series, and of course, your cats!
yes! i plan on making one after friday's episode, and an overall last one when the series is over! and yesss!!! i would LOVE any excuse to talk about my cats! :3 thank you for your comment and support! xo
I’ve watched a few of your videos, and you are the sweetest. My therapist is an LMSW & reminds me so much of you. It’s comforting. P.S..., what color/brand lipstick are you wearing?
Really loved your past two videos on the series! I'd love more commentary on the series (and potentially future series he does that relate to mental health). Doing videos on particular mental health issues would be awesome!
i really wanted to say thank you for speaking up about this! i didn't like the narrative that was portrayed in Shane's video and the way the editing and the judging comments made people with ASPD seem sub-human. I'm autistic and i have BPD, so i know what stigmatization feels like, so i'm glad to see another therapist speak up on this! you got a new subscriber and i'm excited to see where your channel is heading :) also, you're so gorgeous 😍😍
hello, thank you so much for your comment and for subbing as well! i'm super thankful for your support and also for you sharing a bit about yourself with me, thank you for that :) im also excited and planning and researching away! xo
I'm surprised and glad Shane saw your video! You covered all of my concerns and gave further information on sociopaths. I'm glad Shane is taking the time to listen to feedback. I would hate for him to change something because he thinks it won't get views, but hopefully the finished result is something he's proud of. I'm really hoping that the only thing he changes is the dialogue surrounding sociopaths, and discussing it like a disorder, not a conspiracy. OR, delving more into tangible Jake Paul background
hii! okay cool cool ive received some really positive response about the "debunking", i will note that and im excited to do research and create those videos! i hope you have a lovely day as well! xo
I’m glad you spoke out about your concerns regarding his video. It is why I found your channel! I’m glad you prompted him to take a second look and make sure his series was the best I could be.
Of course! If you plan to make any more content, I would be curious as to if sociopaths never experience empathy ever? Kati Morton's video says they don't have consciences at all and that they don't have empathy. However, I thought you only needed so many of the characteristics listed to qualify. (Also posted a shorter version of this as a comment)
I'm absolutely loving your channel!!!! I subscribed and am binge watching all your videos.. I wish Shane had interviewed you! Keep up the great work! SO glad you got the recognition you deserve! :)
Just wanted to say I appreciate your message and TY for letting it out there. A lot of people were ignoring the few but significant flaws in the documentary
I think that what you are doing is really important, teaching your audience and the TH-cam community about these kind of topics that are not talked about much or addressed in depth. Even if people want to research on these first websites they see put out so many stereotypes and myths that it's really hard to know what is correct and what is not. I've always wanted to delve deeper since I want to understand the troubles people with personality disorders go through. If you were to debunk myths and talk about these disorders or other mental health issues I'm sure a lot of people would be very interested in your channel. Came from Shane and subscribed because I believe your channel has a great potential and you seem very genuine!
hi! thanks so much for our comment! i truly appreciate it. MH awareness is something im truly so passionate about and i'm happy to bring these topics to this platform! a personality disorders is a topic i am also deeply interested in, i plan on doing more research and putting those videos together sometime soon! thank you for the sub i truly appreciate your support
@@hi.yeonni Hello! Didn't expect a reply omg haha, this was one of the rare times I actually commented on a video! Will stay in tuned for your new videos and keep the support, best of luck!
I am so glad I found your channel through Shanes tweet. This video was very honest and down to earth, and you engaged with your audience. I loved how this felt like a conversation, reading the comments below and your response. Keep being you! Us new subscribers clicked the button because they loved something you created, so as far as your youtube channel, just keep up the dialogue! X
hi, thank you so much for your comment! i appreciate it so so much :') yes, dialogue! i plan on continuing to emphasize conversations between everyone! xo
I came because of Shane but I stayed because I love your content, I really like when people on youtube are open about mental health. btw, your voice and the way you speak is so calming I really like the way you approach everything
Keep doing you Rachel!! So happy for you and the fact that so many people are recognizing your passion for mental health & other content.. SO EXCITED for what’s to come! Def just talking about differences in personality disorders/disorders that tend to coexist with one another etc. xoxo 💓
I like your videos so much, psychology is like a passion to me and I learned so much on your channel! Thanks for all your videos and I'll look forward for them as well. Xxx
My sister is a psychiatric nurse practitioner. Some of your goals and standards remind me of her's. I'm grateful she is in the position she is, as I am that you are. As a woman and mother that struggles with mental health challenges, I feel comforted that such caring and considerate women are in the world. Really.
it's really good that you brought constructive criticism into the discussion. part 2 really made me feel so upset although i am really excited for the whole series and am happy that shane wants to learn more about those kinds of topics. he said he read a lot of books about the topic, watched documentaries, talked with his own and other therapists and i think all of this combined just created a picture in his head that he wanted to show in an entertaining way in his series to make it more understandable not to stigmatize. so it was important for him to learn from this and thanks to criticism like yours that doing that can be dangerous and can make people see things irl in that dramatized way.
he is an entertainer he can't please anyone just because a group of people get upset ... *someone always gets upset these days* so he should just do whatever he wants and if you like it you watch if you don't, then don't! no one forces u to *it's your fault if you want a video made for entertainment purposes to be an educational one full of trigger warnings*
@@pixieluvv ugh oh my god stop being so butthurt about it. i live shane and i love his videos especially his newer ones. in that moment when i first watched it and for personal entertainment i enjoyed the part 2 vid too however you need to also see the impact a video that can easily make people stigmatize others as monsters is problematic so just leave it alone ffs.
thank you so much for your comment :,((( it means so much, i'm so glad that you could see that i'm not hating on shane yeah i'm also so excited about shane's curiosity! he's bringing something new to YT and i respect it quite a lot :)
I come from Shane's video and I really loved the video you did about part 2 of his series! Very excited to be a new subscriber to you, very interested in what video's you'll bring out because I'm a psychologist in training :)
am glad I was introduced to your channel by Shane and just subscribed. your content is great, keep it up 👍 the content has me really thinking about mental health from all angles, Thank you.
hi! thanks for subbing i appreciate it so much, and i am so happy to hear that my content has you thinking more about MH! that's the best compliment i could ever receive :)) xo
I just watched your 1st video on the series and I’m glad I came across you. I’m also glad you made this video, I ended up subbing because of this video. See I love Shane bc he’s a sweetheart and I’m really an empathetic person myself and your 1st video I was thinking Shane’s only human and I honestly didn’t think he meant to hurt anyone or point out people on TH-cam and people are going to make their judgments no matter what way he made it. I’m personally glad he is doing this and bringing attention to mental health. I personally know it helped a young girl who doesn’t get the mental health at home & it helped her by finding Kate ( that’s her name right? ) and watching her other videos on anxiety and maybe will lead her to get help maybe with an online therapist. I definitely am glad I found you and I’m going to send that young girl your video and maybe you can talk about how can youth find mental health when no one is helping them at home. Bc I think the younger you get help the better. Also I would love to see your follow up videos about this series. Looking forward to seeing what you do, with having depression , anxiety & PTSD from past trauma I’m interested in seeing some of your videos.
hi! thank you so much for watching and supporting me i truly appreciate it! ah, it's so kind of you to be helping out that young girl, and i also truly hope that my videos can help her too
hiyeonni awe you’re just so sweet 😊 ty for your kind words & taking my suggestions into consideration! I actually think it’s really amazing that you listen to your viewers. For real I’m not a therapist and she really needs professional help, she’s asked for it honestly, unfortunately I’m not her legal guardian. So I really love that I found you and she definitely got insight on how she’s feeling and maybe why or at least know that there is a name to it. I think we both will get help out of watching you ur videos. Thanks again 💜
Yes! Please react to the rest of the series. Would love to watch that! Would also love to hear you talk about mental illnesses in other videos - I think you're extremely well spoken and I feel very "safe" that you are addressing these issues :)
thank you for your suggestion! and ah that is the best thing i could hear, i want to share awareness and education in a safe and respctful way at all times! thank you! :')
beautiful addition to your first video! moving forward, content about mental health and self acceptance would really interest me! youre also gorgeous and obsiously have good fashion sense so if youre into that makeup/fashion is always fun♡
self acceptance is so so important! such a good topic! and oh thank you that's so kind! sure! i plan on integrating my other hobbies into my channel as well, so glad you;d want to see that! xo
You seem like such a kind person . I think it’s important to view those with mental illnesses as people too !! They didn’t choose it so it’s important to have compassion when addressing those with mental illness, whatever the illness may be . I know it can be difficult when looking at those who have hurt others - but it’s still important for people to acknowledge that they are not like the average healthy person.
thank you so much for your comment :) i agree with you entirely! esp. from the POV of a therapist like me, i want to help people sitting across from me whether they are someone with mental illness or a victim of abuse from someone with a mental illness! xo
Thank you for being so responsive, present and open to communication. Once again, you expressed a lot of what I was thinking and feeling in such an eloquent way. It feels like you are leading by example how one might discuss sensitive issues in a respectful and empathetic way. I would love to know about how you practice self-care, especially as an empath in the mental health field! And it might be really insightful and interesting to hear more of your thoughts about various mental health related issues. 💕
hi! thank you so much for your comment! ah yes, self care in the mental health field as an empath would be such an interesting video to put together! thank you so much for your suggestion, and yes i am brainstorming hard on all the different videos i could put together regarding MH! xo
I think your video was great and anyone who thought you were doing it for attention or to be negative clearly needs to rewatch it and listen carefully. I think you would be a fantastic therapist. The way you spoke about @shane was lovely and spot on about who he is. I understood the way they said gross, icky and eww on his video meant the way sociopaths can make you feel around them not the way Shane or the therapist felt about them. People seem to jump the gun and throw out hate or judgement before actually listening or understanding the full story and this is so sad
thank you so much :') yes, the internet can be pretty toxic at times! we just gotta continue walking the walk of truth, authenticity, and respect!! :) xo
it's awesome to see that you're raising awareness to a wider audience! Looking forward to see what you do with the channel~ And just want to remind you that you'll never be able to please everyone haha Stay true to who you are :)
Some video ideas: 1. General life update. I went back and watched a lot of your other videos and just really like your personality. I would love to know how work turned out and just know a little more about you. 2. Draw my life 3. Personality disorder videos breaking down the different types and possibly talking about how they are treated 4. Career update. I would love to know what area of social work you are specializing in is there a particular set of disorders that you plan to work with? Are you still planning to go back for a PhD? 5. Social anxiety update. How are you doing? what has worked for you in terms of overcoming it? Love your videos and editing style! I hope you are having a great day💛
I’m viewing your videos on my phone, and I’d love to see you put larger text (captions)in your video thumbnails! They’re a lot smaller on the phone screen so I can’t read them at all when I’m scrolling through your videos :) love your content and I’m glad I found your channel! Xo
Can you make a video of your thoughts on the movie Split & the upcoming movie Glass & the way these movies stigmatize, dehumanize & negatively impact individuals with DID? I feel like with this Docu-series & it’s portrayal of ASPD, it opens up doors to speak on other mental illnesses that are highly vilified by the media.
Idk if you already talked about that (I’m a new subscriber ❤️)but I’d love to see you talking about social anxiety (debunking myths) bc I’ve suffered from it since at least the age of 3 and never really got help bc „everyone’s a little shy sometimes“ or „everyone is nervous when giving a presentation“ when in reality i get full blown panic and anxiety attacks and stuff and yeah most people i know don’t realize how hard it is to live with it... some people i know don’t even believe it exists...(l get told that I’m just making that up to have an excuse to not do things and stuff) so yes I’d really appreciate if you could address that topic (also other anxiety disorders..)
I think you responded like I would. I'm sure it was overwhelming to have that kind of response so quickly. I can certainly relate to you being empathetic. I get it. I feel it takes a lot of strength to care so much, and to feel so much, every day of our lives. Thank you for posting this video and for being true to who you are. I'd be interested in hearing more from you on Shane's series, and honestly, I'd love to know how you "handle" everything that comes with being an empath. :-)
it's mental health awareness month😊 things i'd like to mention are, with each mental illness, there is no text book 'list of symptoms' that fits everyone, each individual will be different. also to not self diagnose or diagnose others, people can be manipulative and not be sociopaths. i enjoyed your previous video and i would like you to delve deeper into mental health in your future work as i don't think people talk enough about it without being misunderstood. Thanks💗
Hey, I know this is off topic but I was wondering if you could do a video on bi-polar disorder. I've been diagnosed with bipolar type 2 and I have no clue what that means. I mean I have a list of other illnesses that I'd rather not go through in the comments but what are the differences between the types. I don't understand. Like in Shane's series there is a spectrum of ASPD. But what's the spectrum of bipolar? The differences, the similaritys, the coping method? It would be wonderful if you could do a video on it. Because the only thing I know about my own illness is that 1 I have manic and depressive episodes and that 2 it's a derogatory slur.
I'm bipolar (diagnosed) and I just recently came to terms with it and have become more accepting of it, I'd love to know more about bipolar 1 and 2, the differences and the stigma around it. Thank you for asking us for ideas, I love that! :)
I also came from Shane’s video and I just love how you talk and explain this topic very well. I immediately subscribed and I look forward for your next videos 🤗 I hope you can make a video about social anxiety ☺️ Love from Germany ❤️❤️❤️
hii! ahh thank you so much for joining my small corner of the internet! ah yes, social anxiety most definitely needs to be talked about it's so important - i've noted your recommendation, thank you! xo
Hi! First of all, thank you for your neutral videos! I am graduating undergrad in December with a dual major in psych and gerontology, and will be moving onto Clinical Mental Health Counseling programs. I would love to hear more from the education stand point- what kind of degree you did, path you took, different job options/places counselors or therapists can work! And of course, I would love to hear more about mental illness, promotion of suicide prevention trainings or things of that nature. The importance of not labeling people and how that can affect them. Just some general ideas to hopefully spark some video plans for you!(: Thanks for being awesome!
hi there! thanks so much for watching! ooh more on education, okay ive definitely noted your suggestion that could be really interesting to put together! ooh and the impact of putting labels on people, wow ok thank you so much for the great suggestions! also, dual major? wow that must not be easy! good luck with your studies, and moving forward into your MH counseling programs! best of luck! xo
in your last video, you mentioned that you weren’t completely financially stable because of your career; would you be able to delve into that and other aspects of your career in a video?
I watched your video and took a look at a lot of your other videos on your channel and it's clear that you didn't do this for "clout" or to ride Shane's coattails. You're clearly very passionate and knowledgeable on the subject matter and want to share and educate others! I find you very inspiring and respectful! Please keep sharing with us! :)) ♡
Id just like to say putting all the captions in the video often get missed by a lot of people. I personally with these types of videos listen to it in the background of me doing something else (As do a lot of people). So now that I’ve caught on that you do this I wonder how many passages I’ve missed and if they were important at all. Just a little bit of constructive criticism. I love how you word yourself very clearly and voice out your opinion in a calm tone. 👍🏼
Hi! We love to work with you together on a video regarding the topic of Sociopathy. We hope to clear up some of the misunderstandings of the term as well and taking away the stigma associated with certain personality disorder, going forward with our content. And love to collab.
I would really love to see you thoughts on the stigma vs the spectrum of Anti social personality disorder and what the public can be sensitive to or aware of
I wanted to thank you for making that video that fairly criticized the doc from a professional viewpoint. Advocacy from experts like you, and debunking myths around mental disorders are so important to bringing our culture around mental health to a better place, and you're doing a great job. Please keep it up
I would love to see videos about mental health, the different personality disorders and specially about depression and anxiety!!!! I've watched videos about that and is something really interesting and complex, I really want to understand more 💙💙💙
I came because of the Shane series and you seem really nice, so I am gonna stay 😁 I would find it interesting to here what you think therapy should be like? How do I know if I found the right therapist or kind of treatment?
thanks for sticking around :) mm i have a video on my channel regarding therapy, so i suggest you check it out! i hope it helps answer your questions :)
That was a great video. I feel that you made yourself clear and there is no need to defend yourself in any way. Thank you for the reminder that people who are suffering with mental health disorders are people too. I have enjoyed friendships that are deep and long lasting with people who suffer with mental health issues of all types.
Im an empath as well, and Ive always wanted to help people but at the same time I feel as though I am a very emotional person. Would therapy be a good career choice or is there something else in the general field that I could consider? Still trying to figure things out. Ive taken psychology courses before and I really enjoy the subject. I just dont know if I personally can handle it.
In addition to more videos about mental health, which I've always found really interesting, I'd like to see a video about your cats. And, if you have a skincare routine or just lucky genetics, that would be interesting too.
hi there! yes definitely planning more MH videos! and i am SO SO excited that so many seem to be interested in my kitties! i love any excuse to talk about them hahaha and hm i do have a routine perse but definitely am no ~beauty guru~, i'll note your suggestion and maybe I can put something together! I used to have suuuper bad acne, so definitely not genetics, just a normal bean here~ xo
oo i honestly had the thought a video on the comments would be interesting enough for a whole video. I was totally with you on your video. Super neat Shane shared your video😊 cant wait for future content, i am down for whatever you want to create 😁 also PLEASE introduce us to your fur babies i would love nothing more😻😻😹
hi, thank you so much for your support i appreciate it so much D,: i'm SO excited to create more videos on mental health and eeee of course!! my fur babies are my EVERYTHING! thank you so much for your interest!
Hello! Nice to meet you, my name is Lora and I’m from Croatia! Loved your Shane video and I just wanted to say that you made everything very clear about not hating or anything you were kinda accused of. But some people just hear and see what they want. I was very much into psychology but I went to art school instead. Would love you make a video about art psychology and how it can affect people and so. Art helped me a lot with my problems and I would really love to know more about it. Thank you and looking forward to your new videos! As well as getting to know your cats! I have two cats (and a dog) as well!
art psych! wow such an interesting topic! interestingly i was also interested in art and psych and instead of art school ended up studying psych! thank you, ive noted your suggestion! and yess any excuse to talk about my fur babies! ^^* thanks for commenting Lora! xo
Question: If someone meets every diagnostic criteria except for that they have empathy, does this mean they do NOT Have antisocial personality disorder?
hi! according to the DSM-5 lack of empathy is not a symptom to be diagnosed with ASPD, so an individual could have ASPD with empathy. When they lack empathy, the individual could be displaying the extreme extensions of ASPD - sociopathy. If there is a lack of conscience, then psychopathy. I am uploading a video on ASPD as I type!
hiyeonni thank you for answering my question! I’ve been confused because I see mixed messages saying people with ASPD have no conscious or empathy at all, but my unprofessional reading of the DSM didn’t indicate that to me. Looking forward to your next videos about it!
I can totally relate on being super sensitive and I'm studying psychology. I totally feel like this is the path I'm meant to be. I excited to see your content, I would love to see mental illness related videos. Lets keep being advocates for mental illness.
Can you maybe do some stuff concerning excoriation/body focused repetitive behavior disorder? It's something I suffer from but I don't see much discussion of it in the mainstream :)
i always hear that sociopaths do things to get what they want but do the actually get actual relationships friends loved ones romantic relationships or does all their relationships end up being fake because i want my character i am writing to be real but interesting to spread awareness and entertain
hm that's interesting, you're writing a book/ story? :) im working on my own video dedicated on ASPD and sociopaths, so i'll look into this topic as well!
@@hi.yeonni ya a book I wanted a video series but changed my mind and I thought my character should have multiple personalities maybe both sociopath and multiple personalities if possible
Please, keep posting mental heath related stuff. I really enjoy that type of content, and I truly believe that you have the wisdom and right perspective to teach us more about mental health and how it can affect us (excuse my bad english lol) ❤
Couldt you make a series where each video focus on one mental health disgnosis and explain them better than those articles with «10 signs you’re a ***» or «10 signs you or someone you know have ***»? It would be really interesting to see videos like that from someone who seems rather interesting and good at their profession!
Hey! Your other video got recommended to me and now this one got too, so I'm going to take the hint and subscribe already haha! Anyway, I wanted to thank you for your take on the series. You were extremely respectful, well spoken and informative. This series, or rather the reaction to this series, is making me quite mad, to be honest. As someone who's met (and is alive because of) great mental health professionals, I felt very offended by the way many people were treating the therapist in Shane's video. Of course everyone is entitled to their feelings and opinions, but to invalidate and disrespect someone who has a license to do what they do just because you felt they were wrong seems very immature. Also, something else is bothering me very, very much. Every time mental health issues are being more openly discussed (which happened with 13 Reasons Why, to some degree with Atypical, and now with this docu-series, for example) I feel like there is a huge wave of self diagnoses. I have read what pro self-dx people have to say before, but I just couldn't get on board with that. So I was thinking maybe you could do a video on that? You could talk about the issues of self-dx, or completely prove me wrong and explain how it can be a useful tool, if that's where you stand! Either way I think it would make for a great video! Much love from Brazil
thank you for your comment, oh yes, self-dx has definitely been on the rise and "trending" since the videos were released unfortunately! that is such an interesting topic, ive noted it! thank you for the suggestion! xo
Shane never uploads during the weeknend. That is why he is uploading today
Mihaela Jermilova he did say he is chsnging some things of his edits
I clicked because I was interested in Shane's series but I subscribed because you seem so genuinely interesting and lovely! You're one of those people who I would watch regardless of topic.
me too :D
Same 🙋🏽♀️
omg this is the kindest comment! i'm brainstorming video topics and was feeling a bit stressed, but i'm so happy to hear your support :') i will try my best! thank you! xo
@@hi.yeonni me too!! You look so nice, that's why I just subscribed !!
It's so good to see a therapist who understands the need for empathy towards people with highly stigmatised disorders.
i try my best :')
a therapist comes to me every 14 days or so because i have Asperger and anxiety issues from bullying all throughout school. And i love therapists that have empathy. It's super hard to open up to someone who doesnt seem empathetic i find. I trust almost no one so it needs to be a "soft" person to speak to, to be able to get any progress.
Knopsern I'm glad you've found an empathetic therapist you trust, it does make a big difference.
@@Hannah-wh3vo I really doubt it will 😕
I completely agree Andy!
Andy I couldn’t have said it better👌🏽
Andy Well said!!
Andy I agree with you, but for me it is not ok to say “you shouldn’t have to keep explaining yourself continuously to stupid people”, people are free to comment their opinions,?you can’t call them stupid when they are expressing themselves
Suggestion! :)
Maybe talk about the differences between a mood disorder and a personality disorder?
Or dive deeper into personality disorders, for example, explaining the differences/similarities/potential overlaps between Cluster A, Cluster B and Cluster C?
Yes! This would be a great video!!!
I agree!
I really want to see this!
As for me, I've been anxious enough already. I'm not going take on the added stress of trying to make people online perfectly understand me-especially when the number of people who see and can misunderstand my words shoots up from 300 to 460,000. My mental health can't take the strain. So, just like I try to do offline, I set boundaries that will protect my health. I suspect this kind of boundary setting is very familiar to you as a therapist-you just don't usually have to advise your clients and yourself on how to deal with a sudden spike in comments on social media. ;)
The truth is that many youtubers aren't very educated...
0Flow0
Ummm?
Obviously, we don’t generally associate wisdom and youth
I just wish the therapist who was in Shane's series would have given him that education. I mean the average person won't know how to cover aspd, but she should...
I'd like to learn more about different types of mental illness, and how people can cope with them and what they need to do each day to overcome their battles.
hi! your suggestion has been noted (like literally, just wrote it in my notebook hahaha), thank you so much for watching and your recommendation as well i truly appreciate it :) xo
@@hi.yeonni fab news. Thank you x
thank you
I came from Shane and really liked your response to his episodes.
Xxx much love!
ohh yay! those were some of my favorite videos to make because i care seriously so so much - i will definitely note to make more future videos on self care/self help advice! thank you for the suggestion! xo
So happy your very important message was heard
thank you so so much
I loved that you turned your empathy into something positive. I was picked on for being too sensitive and pretty much bottled up my emotions for years after that. Now I'm stuck trying to unpack years of emotional baggage.
no... i'm sorry you went through that. i got picked on a lot too because i've always been "too sensitive" :/
you're not alone! there's nothing wrong with who you are. something that helped me a lot is kind of turning my POV around regarding what society considered to be my "weakness". sometimes what people say is your weakness can be your biggest strength! sending all love and positive vibes xo
I am very happy that you made that video. I also felt the same way when i watched Shane’s video, and I’m glad i wasn’t the only one
i'm glad that you felt the same! thanks so much for watching
i really wanted to say thank you for speaking up about this! i didn't like the narrative that was portrayed in Shane's video and the way the editing and the judging comments made people with ASPD seem sub-human. I'm autistic and i have BPD, so i know what stigmatization feels like, so i'm glad to see another therapist speak up on this! you got a new subscriber and i'm excited to see where your channel is heading :)
also, you're so gorgeous 😍😍
hello, thank you so much for your comment and for subbing as well! i'm super thankful for your support and also for you sharing a bit about yourself with me, thank you for that :) im also excited and planning and researching away!
OR, delving more into tangible Jake Paul background
hi, thanks so much for your comment! well this week he's releasing more of the series so im also super excited to watch the rest of them! xo
I'm looking forward to your future "debunking myth" videos about mental illnesses ! Thank you for sharing with us and have a lovely day~
Me too - I've subscribed and am looking forward to them ! I'm so glad I found this channel :)

I’m glad you spoke out about your concerns regarding his video. It is why I found your channel! I’m glad you prompted him to take a second look and make sure his series was the best I could be.
thank you so much, i appreciate it!
I love that you, Shane, and Kati all care and are working together to shed light on mental health topics ❤️

thank you so much, i appreciate it greatly :') xo
I am so happy that Shane brought you into my feed. I love your uplifting attitude and your professionalism!

@@pixieluvv ugh oh my god stop being so butthurt about it. i live shane and i love his videos especially his newer ones. in that moment when i first watched it and for personal entertainment i enjoyed the part 2 vid too however you need to also see the impact a video that can easily make people stigmatize others as monsters is problematic
so just leave it alone ffs.

hi! thanks for subbing i appreciate it so much, and i am so happy to hear that my content has you thinking more about MH! that's the best compliment i could ever receive :)) xo

Definitely want to see the debunking videos! Your chill vibes and wisdom were really interesting!
awesome! duly noted, thanks so much! xo
You seem like such a kind person . I think it’s important to view those with mental illnesses as people too !! They didn’t choose it so it’s important to have compassion when addressing those with mental illness, whatever the illness may be . I know it can be difficult when looking at those who have hurt others - but it’s still important for people to acknowledge that they are not like the average healthy person.
thank you so much for your comment :)
i agree with you entirely! esp. from the POV of a therapist like me, i want to help people sitting across from me whether they are someone with mental illness or a victim of abuse from someone with a mental illness! xo
hiyeonni I am an empath too so i understand your point of view !! 💜🙏

2. Draw my life
3. Personality disorder videos breaking down the different types and possibly talking about how they are treated
4. Career update. I would love to know what area of social work you are specializing in is there a particular set of disorders that you plan to work with? Are you still planning to go back for a PhD?
5. Social anxiety update. How are you doing? what has worked for you in terms of overcoming it?

Can you make a video of your thoughts on the movie Split & the upcoming movie Glass & the way these movies stigmatize, dehumanize & negatively impact individuals with DID? I feel like with this Docu-series & it’s portrayal of ASPD, it opens up doors to speak on other mental illnesses that are highly vilified by the media.
oh interesting, i will take note of these movies and watch them!! thank you so much for your suggestions! xo
Idk if you already talked about that (I’m a new subscriber ❤️)but I’d love to see you talking about social anxiety (debunking myths) bc I’ve suffered from it since at least the age of 3 and never really got help bc „everyone’s a little shy sometimes“ or „everyone is nervous when giving a presentation“ when in reality i get full blown panic and anxiety attacks and stuff and yeah most people i know don’t realize how hard it is to live with it... some people i know don’t even believe it exists...(l get told that I’m just making that up to have an excuse to not do things and stuff) so yes I’d really appreciate if you could address that topic (also other anxiety disorders..)
social anxiety hits close to my heart, ive noted your suggestion and will plan for a future video on these topics! thank you so much xo
You appeared in my recommendation list. You seem amazing. Subscribed
it's mental health awareness month😊
things i'd like to mention are, with each mental illness, there is no text book 'list of symptoms' that fits everyone, each individual will be different.
also to not self diagnose or diagnose others, people can be manipulative and not be sociopaths. i enjoyed your previous video and i would like you to delve deeper into mental health in your future work as i don't think people talk enough about it without being misunderstood. Thanks💗
How are you so aesthetically pleasing
ahahahaha ive never heard that before! but shucks thanks! xo
definitely a wonderful recommendation, thank you for sharing a little about yourself with me and also this suggestion i will note it! xo
I also came from Shane’s video and I just love how you talk and explain this topic very well. I immediately subscribed and I look forward for your next videos 🤗
I hope you can make a video about social anxiety ☺️
Love from Germany ❤️❤️❤️
hii! ahh thank you so much for joining my small corner of the internet! ah yes, social anxiety most definitely needs to be talked about it's so important - i've noted your recommendation, thank you! xo
a video on sociapaths basically on what shane and kati missed out on talking about and the different spectrums of it?
yes! working on that for next week!
I’m so happy I found your channel!
yay! i'm so happy you're here! thanks so much for stopping by! xo
You are like a breath of fresh air! So well spoken and thoughtful and calm (and also really beautiful). I'd love for you to be my therapist honestly 😁
oh wow so kind, thank you :')
Just some general ideas to hopefully spark some video plans for you!(:
Thanks for being awesome!
hi there! thanks so much for watching! ooh more on education, okay ive definitely noted your suggestion that could be really interesting to put together! ooh and the impact of putting labels on people, wow ok thank you so much for the great suggestions! also, dual major? wow that must not be easy! good luck with your studies, and moving forward into your MH counseling programs! best of luck! xo
in your last video, you mentioned that you weren’t completely financially stable because of your career; would you be able to delve into that and other aspects of your career in a video?
i can most definitely do that! thanks so much for your suggestion! xo
i appreciate it so much :') xo
Id just like to say putting all the captions in the video often get missed by a lot of people. I personally with these types of videos listen to it in the background of me doing something else (As do a lot of people). So now that I’ve caught on that you do this I wonder how many passages I’ve missed and if they were important at all. Just a little bit of constructive criticism.
I love how you word yourself very clearly and voice out your opinion in a calm tone. 👍🏼
hi! i saw similar lines of constructive criticism so will most definitely work on it for future videos! and thanks i appreciate it! xo
I've watched videos about that and is something really interesting and complex, I really want to understand more 💙💙💙
yes! i plan on doing all this, thank you for our suggestions i've noted them for future videos xo
Excited that Shane heard you and the concerns that I feel like alot of us had. Looking forward to seeing where your channel is gonna go. :)
hehe thank you :') it's an honor to have been able to make a video that many people could feel they could connect to! i appreciate it so much! xo
Found your channel through Shane, you are so sweet and calming. Great vibes
ah such an important topic, thank you for suggesting it i will note it for a future video so i can do the appropriate research,
thank you again xo
Thank you for considering it.
I came for the drama surrounding the topic, I'm staying because I love your personality
youre too nice :'))) thank you xo
That was a great video. I feel that you made yourself clear and there is no need to defend yourself in any way. Thank you for the reminder that people who are suffering with mental health disorders are people too. I have enjoyed friendships that are deep and long lasting with people who suffer with mental health issues of all types.
thank you so much i truly appreciate it :') xo
Very well spoken. Enjoyed watching your videos
thank you so much :')
I love your channel!!
eeep thank you so much!
Im an empath as well, and Ive always wanted to help people but at the same time I feel as though I am a very emotional person. Would therapy be a good career choice or is there something else in the general field that I could consider? Still trying to figure things out. Ive taken psychology courses before and I really enjoy the subject. I just dont know if I personally can handle it.
this is a very interesting topic and obviously something that influences me! i will note for a future video! thank you! xo
@@hi.yeonni thanks!
How about stress management? I’m in between jobs right now and I’m freaking out a little bit.
oh nooo i'm sorry about that :(( i've noted your suggestion! i'll start researching on that and meanwhile sending positive vibes your way!! xo
hiyeonni thanks a lot! Things are looking up but it’s still a waiting game.
what camera do you use?
SUBSCRIBED ! I love you alreadyyy
omgggg thank you :') i am so excited!
Would love to see you talk about mental health career paths for people who want to go into psychology and mental health 💜
yes! love this idea, thanks so much! xo
thanks for commenting Lora! xo
As an LCSW I say to you well done!
You seem to be a wonderfully nice and smart person.
You are so cool!! Thank you for liking and commenting back on all my comments!! You made my day💋
awh well you commenting made my day too ~
Question: If someone meets every diagnostic criteria except for that they have empathy, does this mean they do NOT Have antisocial personality disorder?
hi! according to the DSM-5 lack of empathy is not a symptom to be diagnosed with ASPD, so an individual could have ASPD with empathy.
I LOVE! excited for you (:
eep thank you!! xo
Loved it! You're fantastic!
I hope you can elaborate more on psychopath & sociopath , and is it possible if someone who’s diagnosed with autism might be on of them ?
i am working on that video atm! thank you for your suggestion, i truly appreciate it xo
i always hear that sociopaths do things to get what they want but do the actually get actual relationships friends loved ones romantic relationships or does all their relationships end up being fake because i want my character i am writing to be real but interesting to spread awareness and entertain
hm that's interesting, you're writing a book/ story? :) im working on my own video dedicated on ASPD and sociopaths, so i'll look into this topic as well!
@@hi.yeonni ya a book I wanted a video series but changed my mind and I thought my character should have multiple personalities maybe both sociopath and multiple personalities if possible
Can you do a make up tutorial??? You look so luminous and beautiful! Your energy is contagious!
oh wow so so sweet thank you :'3 sure if youd be interested! i want to integrate some personal videos with MH videos too so that could be fun! xo
hiyeonni (๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵)و 💕 Keep up the good work! As well as take care, okay?
Please, keep posting mental heath related stuff. I really enjoy that type of content, and I truly believe that you have the wisdom and right perspective to teach us more about mental health and how it can affect us (excuse my bad english lol) ❤
i most definitely am planning on it! thanks so much for your recommendations and no dont worry your english is fine! xo
I hope you answer this in any future video! Can a person who isn't a sociopath be non empathetic? I really want to know!
hi there! i plan on making an ASPD video for next week, so will research this question!
Couldt you make a series where each video focus on one mental health disgnosis and explain them better than those articles with «10 signs you’re a ***» or «10 signs you or someone you know have ***»? It would be really interesting to see videos like that from someone who seems rather interesting and good at their profession!
this definitely is a great idea! thanks fir your suggestion! xo
Much love from Brazil
thank you for your comment, oh yes, self-dx has definitely been on the rise and "trending" since the videos were released unfortunately! that is such an interesting topic, ive noted it! thank you for the suggestion! xo
I loved your last video, please do more on mental health.
hi! thanks so much! i most definitely am actively planning on doing so! super pumped! xo
