This is exactly what I thought. It looks eerie and almost unnatural. The scene is placed almost as if Atreus just woke up and got out of bed to answer the door.

I think Kratos is the only one who can defeat Thor, and Atreus is the only one who can defeat Odin. Thor vs Kratos represents a great physical battle, while Odin vs Atreus will be more of a mental battle. I have a feeling the story will make us believe that Atreus is being manipulated by Odin, but at the end we will see it was the other way around in true Loki fashion.
He isn't loki yet. Him making a pact to save his father and himself to stop ragnorak is attreus true feelings. He will learn more of his mother and loki and make a different choice by the end. The idea that he is already loki is. Possible but he definitely does not realize that yet

Mimir makes it clear that odin and kratos agree about fate. Attreus agrees as well, if he chooses or if destiny takes root , he will not always believe that fate is a lie. He may even choose to follow this fate, even if it leads to his death
I think that Odin sent Thor to fight and distract Kratos (the fight we see in the trailer could be the first one because Kratos has the old bifrost with him) so that he could manipulate Atreus.
Doesn’t make sense considering in the first trailer and in the end of the first game Thor shows up at Kratoś doorstep and both Atreus and Kratos are confronting him. I don’t think they’d leave Atreus out of a fight like that

Now this is just a thought, everything is not as it seems... everything from the player's perspective included. When Atreus prayed over his Mother in 2018, he mentioned both his parents as if his Father had already passed. Keeping in mind his Mother always referred to him as Loki (for a reason). I think that this is all being orchestrated by Loki, from 2018 to present, with the player of the game lead by Loki, just as the characters are in the game. The Endgame is Loki using Kratos to kill the Gods so that he is left to reign Loki is a Trickster not a fighter... Kratos is his Warrior to defeat the gods. Loki brought Kratos here to complete his plan. Kratos is nothing but an instrument being played by Loki.

I think Odin sees an opportunity with Kratos and Atreus. We gave him access to Jotunheim and as Mimir once said to Kratos - "Prophecy didn't count on you". Therefore Odin will now use Kratos to change his own fate. He has probably seen more of the endgame murals in Jotunheim now which he didn't get the chance to do during his last visit so he knows exactly what to do. Moreover, if Tyr knows who Kratos is then Odin definitely does and he will know that Kratos once changed his own fate which Odin is determined to do as well. Kratos is the key for Odin to accomplish it. "Odin would control every man, in every realm, of every world if he could" - Mimir. That part when Mimir says "every world" is very interesting because he might refer to the Greek and Norse mythologies as different "worlds”. Makes me think Odin might survive and we chase him down later. Its also less predictable than just assuming that all gods die and we get a happy ending
My theory is that if Atreus kills Kratos, then Kratos has to climb out of hell like he always does, now hear me out. Since we know that Loki's children are in the game I feel like we could see Hel, Loki's daughter help out Kratos due to the fact that he is her Grandfather AKA Loki/Atreus' father. Odin arrives at Kratos home to parley with him to stop his search fot Tyr ,, in this scene Kratos and Thor are already in the house before Odin arrives
Watching this video I theorize that Odin will try and convince Atreus that they want the same thing (to stop Ragnarok). Atreus will follow his orders after their secret meeting without telling Kratos which is the secret he is hiding from Kratos. Kratos finds out and tried to stop it but Odin intervenes and exposes Kratos’ past to Atreus. Then they fight over Atreus.
The audio description may very well say Odin; but that Audio may not go with the video we saw. It could’ve just been Odin audio played over a clip that isn’t Odin. That’s how to set up a misdirection
I believe this is Odin in a different form, dream or not this is how he is wishing to appear to others. This is how he is usually depicted in the myth, an old man. But like Zeus in GOW 1-3 he has a true and majestic form that awes mortals. Zeus liked to appear as the grave digger, this is how I believe Odin likes to manipulate people. He appears weak and is underestimated. But he has the form that we see in the games wooden murals. Notice how he has a long beard, helmet, his spear and horse. This is when he’s fighting or is doing something horrid to someone powerful, he was in this form when cursing Freya as that’s what he looks like when just walking around in Asgard. But he’ll at least be far more powerful than we are led to believe.

What if SSMS is just messing with us and that bald figure is actually Mimir with a body Brok and Sindry built for him. They took measurements in the last game at the end. Could also explain why Mimir is missing in some of the trailer clips.
Oh my goodness! I can already see it! Odin revealing to Atreus the absolute HORRORS of Kratos' past. Atreus might hesitate and start wondering if he's really on the right side of things. Kratos IS Ragnarok. Yikes!
I think Odin is just trying to manipulate both Kratos and Atreus and I think it's gonna work on both of them. I think Atreus is gonna be actually awakening that Loki side that we know from Norse Mythology without him even knowing it. The manipulation is gonna work so well because Atreus is gonna be thinking he's protecting everyone and have the upper hand on Odin, but Odin planned this all along. Atreus is going to be doing thing's behind Kratos back bringing that mischievous side out. I think the craziest thing that could happen is what if Odin was with them the entire time. What if Odin is the Mimir that was traveling with them the entire time and with that he know's everything he needs to know about them. The real Mimir is in Asgard or somewhere only Odin knows and has access to. I also hope Odin actually fight's us like in a warrior form to show us his actual physical strength with his magic.
Kratos could only stop the cycle - but Atreus will be the one to REVERSE it. The painting is Atreus sacrificing his soul to bring Kratos back to life - reversing the cycle of son killing father in mythologies.
Yo I just noticed in Tyrs vault Altreus had an Egyptian crown on his head for like 30 seconds while Kratos was looking at that pot with himself on it... Possibly foreshadowing a Future setting?? 🤷
I believe the “prophecy” reviled at the end of (gow 2018) is Odin is the bald man dead in the end . We know that Atreus becomes someone close with oden bc of the secret meetings they have in the trailer and the blood bond they have in the real Norse mythology. witch explains why Atreus is seen holding the dead man with great emotion pouring out of him. Maybe to stop Odin death is to stop the end of the world much like Zeus at the end of GOW3.
It would be so damn awesome if during the final battle of kratos and Odin (or whoever). While in the middle of the fight, the game just starts to crash and your entire PS5 have to restart and once you are back an error message will show saying “ the battle of Kratos and Odin was felt across all the realms. Please continue the game” And once you are back, we will be brought back to the middle of the fight as we left it. Just like metal gear games glitching and showing those Konami signs OH HHEEELLLL YEAHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
He is not really known as a shapeshifter, he is known to disguise himself as a wanderer. Shapeshifting is a very rare ability in Norse Myth. Loki is one of the few known shapeshifters.
Odin WILL manipulate Atreus. the leaked art book page of Odin,says how he's going to manipulate Atreus and how Kratos and Odin is going to be fighting for the soul of Atreus while Odin acting as a father figure.
I believe the guy who comes to meet Atreus is Atreus himself from another timelime where kratos dies to Thor and Atreus tries to take revenge for his father but that backfires and sends him to a different timeline now both Atreus try to end this world once and for all Which will lead to time travel and the whole game
I expose Odin's entire plan for ragnarok. And get this, it was right in our faces this entire time. Santa monica really out did themselves with this one.
I still don't understand the whole thing with Odin and Skol and Hati, if he allows them to continue chasing the sun and moon ragnarok happens but if he doesn't the realms are in darkness and everything will eventually die anyway albiet slower. So aside from being the one that allegedly casts them (I say allegedly because we see atreus do it and time travel shenanigans get confusing) into the heavens to begin the chase what control does he have? He could have them stop their chase by commanding the sun and moon to go still again but that game of cat and mouse can't last forever because ragnarok is a self fulfilling prophecy, its going to happen Also something I don't see anybody mentioning is that in the actual ragnarok myth Thor battles the world serpent and it ends with the serpent being cast back in time and Thor dies to the snakes venom. When kratos throws his axe into the lake of nine the snake spits it back at him text pops up reading "Eitr imbued" so Kratos axe has the venom imbued into it which points to Kratos killing Thor and not the fight Thor has with the snake itself. I believe in their fight while Kratos and Thor may physically not be able to outmatched the other, the moment where Kratos gets a good hit and that venom gets into Thor its all over. This would be another change to the original ragnarok myth that Kratos changes, as is his habit to change prophecies
I have a small theory that the fight between kratos and Thor takes place at the beginning hour of the game and at the same time Odin shows up at the door as a tactical plan the take advantage of Atreus and that’s the thing Atreus need to keep secret from kratos

And I believe he is aware of Kratos curse that he cannot die. Kratos can't "give" his immortality to Odin, kratos isn't IMMORTAL he is simply cursed to never be able to die for eternity it can't be given away or taken away
When Kratos says that he would die for atreius to live, that is not implying anything at all, it is not implying that Kratos is going to die. If you would have actually done some research you would understand that they added that dialog so people could understand why Freya was acting the way she was. Look it up even cory said it in an interview. So do your research
Yes or maybe odin did tell / manipulated atreus telling lies about his father's past and about upcoming future(Ragnarok) and atreus got confused or felt lied by his father and so on . But for me it feels like if atreus killed kratos the only reason for me is killing kratos would free him from his madness and atreus will go solo after his death ( cause of his arrogance , ego or confused about his prophecy / his Destiny / purpose of his life ). And we all know kratos is immortal ( his curse) and comes back alive and realise that he got betrayed by his son and kratos gose back to his old nature and killing and destroying and kratos becoming the Ragnarok itself .

Only after freeing humanity from tyranny of the God's, ashes of his family will leave and Kratos #Godkiller will rest. There's a scene in God of war 2018 which confirms it. The necklace that Freya grabbed from Arrays was the mistletoe arrow that broke Baldur's spell. Kratos and Atreus starts the Ragnarok, when Atreus shot the arrow towards sun and one of the wolf Skoll started chasing sun that was epic. Other wolf Hati starting howling and will chase the moon and start the Ragnarok. Odin shows up and was very manipulative with his words throughout the trailer, first Odin try to manipulate Atreus telling him that if Ragranok happens then Kratos will die and that's why when Atreus shot the arrow towards sun Kratos was telling him "That fate only bind you if you let it - do what's necessary _ not what's written ". Then Odin started talking to Kratos telling him that he was never loved , never worshiped to stop the Ragranok Valkyrie doing combo wow, Kratos took the sword from other enemy and used it against him was cool. Kratos and Tyr shaking hands was another amazing moment. Kratos #Godkiller and Thor fighting alone was epic. We also saw world serpent between frozen waters in God of war Ragranok which i think fire demon will come during Ragranok and World serpant would arise and Kratos will use his poison on his axe or other weapons and will kill Thor. I think Kratos dropping blades and Axe would be at the start of the game when he returned from the mountain. Dark elf was actually protecting Kratos from Freyr i guess since he ( Freyr ) and Freya controls the trees. Atreus is lucky he doesn't have the Kratos from God of war 1 to God of war 3 now Kratos is trying to set good example against his son Atreus but as Athena said in God of war 4 - 2018 Kratos will always be a monster. Zeus is the most powerful God among all Gods in God of war series and blade of Olympus is the most powerful weapon ever, just imagine Kratos using Blade of Olympus in God of war Ragranok and further in future God of war games specially since after the trailer God of war Ragranok team just posted stuff like mentioning " you haven't seen anything yet ". Thor will be more sympathetic character and would not be one dimensional character, Odin will be the real villian. Just imagine if Kratos see Atreus in danger and snaps to the Kratos of old from God of war 1, 2 and God of war 3 and decide to take Blade of Olympus to kill all the God's and i don't know but i have this feeling that we will also see Athena back in Ragranok since we saw her in God of war 4 2018. Kratos having blade of Olympus again and going after Odin and other God's would be so cool and may be he talk to Zeus again in the Game and Athena will also show up now that everyone knows Kratos is still alive. We saw Kratos using old moveset from old God of war games when he grabbed mid air object and jumped and also when he use big stone attack, it would be so amazing to see old Kratos deciding to kill all Gods including Odin in Ragnarok would beyond epic. God of war 2018 is pretty much God of war 4 since we saw Zeus in God of war 2018 and at the end Kratos tells his son about his past. I hope we see Kratos from old God of war games - ruthless, brutal kills, epic soundtracks and big boss fights.....

No, it’s specifically labeled a story trailer.. realistically, the trailer should not show -any- gameplay so SM was gracious in doing so. The showcase is when Sony generally shows off the gameplay / does a deeper dive into the game itself.

They showed more enemy variety, more combos, new travel mechanics, new movement, new environments + a whole article with game informer going in depth with their combat, level designs and more. And your point of the characters not being defined doesn’t make sense since Odin and the person on Kratos’ back were the only ones that were kept ambiguous in this trailer for the plot of the game. You would know that if you actually paid even the slightest of attention to the first game. Cope some more 🤭

This was labeled as a story trailer; it was simply dropped to give everyone tidbits of information regarding where the devs are going with the story itself. Sony also has events called a "Showcase" where they will go in depth / show more about the gameplay itself. If THAT trailer / event relies on scripted movie clips then yes, you would have a reason for concern and I would 100% agree with you. I don't know if the event has been planned / dated yet. The last Sony AAA title (I believe) was Horizon FW and I don't remember how close to launch they held the showcase event. But there is plenty of time between now and launch for them to hold it. My best guess would be the halfway point as they will want to get everyone talking again right before release. Don't think for a second that Cory and the SM team are going to under deliver and not top 2018 GOW 100x over. I would argue that the story is my bigger concern vs the gameplay. (only because they have so much to cover in this game) The only real limiting factor for gameplay will likely be the fact they had to make it backwards compatible with PS4.

I know this has nothing to do with the video but I think the reason odin locked away týr is because he knew of the power of the Greek God of war and got scared that týr would try doing the same thing even though týr was loved by all and Kratos was well the opposite he was feared but if my small stupid but yet possible theory is correct odin should be very scared of Kratos and Týr teaming up

What if kratos dies at the end as a result of a misguided atreus's betrayal. But the next game we see him wake up imprisoned in Egypt. Now he has to fight the Egyptian gods (who were in league with the Norse gods) to go back to Asgard.

Watching this video I theorize that Odin will try and convince Atreus that they want the same thing (to stop Ragnarok). Atreus will follow his orders after their secret meeting without telling Kratos which is the secret he is hiding from Kratos. Kratos finds out and tried to stop it but Odin intervenes and exposes Kratos’ past to Atreus. Then they fight over Atreus.
The audio description may very well say Odin; but that Audio may not go with the video we saw. It could’ve just been Odin audio played over a clip that isn’t Odin. That’s how to set up a misdirection
I believe this is Odin in a different form, dream or not this is how he is wishing to appear to others. This is how he is usually depicted in the myth, an old man. But like Zeus in GOW 1-3 he has a true and majestic form that awes mortals. Zeus liked to appear as the grave digger, this is how I believe Odin likes to manipulate people. He appears weak and is underestimated. But he has the form that we see in the games wooden murals. Notice how he has a long beard, helmet, his spear and horse. This is when he’s fighting or is doing something horrid to someone powerful, he was in this form when cursing Freya as that’s what he looks like when just walking around in Asgard. But he’ll at least be far more powerful than we are led to believe.
Dieing for him is like going on a vacation.Just a question if Kratos dies will he go to hades or the Norse version of hell

What if SSMS is just messing with us and that bald figure is actually Mimir with a body Brok and Sindry built for him. They took measurements in the last game at the end. Could also explain why Mimir is missing in some of the trailer clips.

I think Odin is just trying to manipulate both Kratos and Atreus and I think it's gonna work on both of them. I think Atreus is gonna be actually awakening that Loki side that we know from Norse Mythology without him even knowing it. The manipulation is gonna work so well because Atreus is gonna be thinking he's protecting everyone and have the upper hand on Odin, but Odin planned this all along. Atreus is going to be doing thing's behind Kratos back bringing that mischievous side out. I think the craziest thing that could happen is what if Odin was with them the entire time. What if Odin is the Mimir that was traveling with them the entire time and with that he know's everything he needs to know about them. The real Mimir is in Asgard or somewhere only Odin knows and has access to. I also hope Odin actually fight's us like in a warrior form to show us his actual physical strength with his magic.

Kratos could only stop the cycle - but Atreus will be the one to REVERSE it. The painting is Atreus sacrificing his soul to bring Kratos back to life - reversing the cycle of son killing father in mythologies.

I believe the “prophecy” reviled at the end of (gow 2018) is Odin is the bald man dead in the end . We know that Atreus becomes someone close with oden bc of the secret meetings they have in the trailer and the blood bond they have in the real Norse mythology. witch explains why Atreus is seen holding the dead man with great emotion pouring out of him. Maybe to stop Odin death is to stop the end of the world much like Zeus at the end of GOW3.

He is not really known as a shapeshifter, he is known to disguise himself as a wanderer. Shapeshifting is a very rare ability in Norse Myth. Loki is one of the few known shapeshifters.

I believe the guy who comes to meet Atreus is Atreus himself from another timelime where kratos dies to Thor and Atreus tries to take revenge for his father but that backfires and sends him to a different timeline now both Atreus try to end this world once and for all

I still don't understand the whole thing with Odin and Skol and Hati, if he allows them to continue chasing the sun and moon ragnarok happens but if he doesn't the realms are in darkness and everything will eventually die anyway albiet slower. So aside from being the one that allegedly casts them (I say allegedly because we see atreus do it and time travel shenanigans get confusing) into the heavens to begin the chase what control does he have?
He could have them stop their chase by commanding the sun and moon to go still again but that game of cat and mouse can't last forever because ragnarok is a self fulfilling prophecy, its going to happen
Also something I don't see anybody mentioning is that in the actual ragnarok myth Thor battles the world serpent and it ends with the serpent being cast back in time and Thor dies to the snakes venom. When kratos throws his axe into the lake of nine the snake spits it back at him text pops up reading "Eitr imbued" so Kratos axe has the venom imbued into it which points to Kratos killing Thor and not the fight Thor has with the snake itself. I believe in their fight while Kratos and Thor may physically not be able to outmatched the other, the moment where Kratos gets a good hit and that venom gets into Thor its all over. This would be another change to the original ragnarok myth that Kratos changes, as is his habit to change prophecies
I have a small theory that the fight between kratos and Thor takes place at the beginning hour of the game and at the same time Odin shows up at the door as a tactical plan the take advantage of Atreus and that’s the thing Atreus need to keep secret from kratos

When Kratos says that he would die for atreius to live, that is not implying anything at all, it is not implying that Kratos is going to die. If you would have actually done some research you would understand that they added that dialog so people could understand why Freya was acting the way she was. Look it up even cory said it in an interview. So do your research

Yes or maybe odin did tell / manipulated atreus telling lies about his father's past and about upcoming future(Ragnarok) and atreus got confused or felt lied by his father and so on . But for me it feels like if atreus killed kratos the only reason for me is killing kratos would free him from his madness and atreus will go solo after his death ( cause of his arrogance , ego or confused about his prophecy / his Destiny / purpose of his life ). And we all know kratos is immortal ( his curse) and comes back alive and realise that he got betrayed by his son and kratos gose back to his old nature and killing and destroying and kratos becoming the Ragnarok itself .

The necklace that Freya grabbed from Arrays was the mistletoe arrow that broke Baldur's spell. Kratos and Atreus starts the Ragnarok, when Atreus shot the arrow towards sun and one of the wolf Skoll started chasing sun that was epic. Other wolf Hati starting howling and will chase the moon and start the Ragnarok. Odin shows up and was very manipulative with his words throughout the trailer, first Odin try to manipulate Atreus telling him that if Ragranok happens then Kratos will die and that's why when Atreus shot the arrow towards sun Kratos was telling him "That fate only bind you if you let it - do what's necessary _ not what's written ". Then Odin started talking to Kratos telling him that he was never loved , never worshiped to stop the Ragranok Valkyrie doing combo wow, Kratos took the sword from other enemy and used it against him was cool. Kratos and Tyr shaking hands was another amazing moment. Kratos #Godkiller and Thor fighting alone was epic. We also saw world serpent between frozen waters in God of war Ragranok which i think fire demon will come during Ragranok and World serpant would arise and Kratos will use his poison on his axe or other weapons and will kill Thor. I think Kratos dropping blades and Axe would be at the start of the game when he returned from the mountain. Dark elf was actually protecting Kratos from Freyr i guess since he ( Freyr ) and Freya controls the trees. Atreus is lucky he doesn't have the Kratos from God of war 1 to God of war 3 now Kratos is trying to set good example against his son Atreus but as Athena said in God of war 4 - 2018 Kratos will always be a monster. Zeus is the most powerful God among all Gods in God of war series and blade of Olympus is the most powerful weapon ever, just imagine Kratos using Blade of Olympus in God of war Ragranok and further in future God of war games specially since after the trailer God of war Ragranok team just posted stuff like mentioning " you haven't seen anything yet ". Thor will be more sympathetic character and would not be one dimensional character, Odin will be the real villian. Just imagine if Kratos see Atreus in danger and snaps to the Kratos of old from God of war 1, 2 and God of war 3 and decide to take Blade of Olympus to kill all the God's and i don't know but i have this feeling that we will also see Athena back in Ragranok since we saw her in God of war 4 2018. Kratos having blade of Olympus again and going after Odin and other God's would be so cool and may be he talk to Zeus again in the Game and Athena will also show up now that everyone knows Kratos is still alive. We saw Kratos using old moveset from old God of war games when he grabbed mid air object and jumped and also when he use big stone attack, it would be so amazing to see old Kratos deciding to kill all Gods including Odin in Ragnarok would beyond epic. God of war 2018 is pretty much God of war 4 since we saw Zeus in God of war 2018 and at the end Kratos tells his son about his past. I hope we see Kratos from old God of war games - ruthless, brutal kills, epic soundtracks and big boss fights.....

No, it’s specifically labeled a story trailer.. realistically, the trailer should not show -any- gameplay so SM was gracious in doing so. The showcase is when Sony generally shows off the gameplay / does a deeper dive into the game itself.

They showed more enemy variety, more combos, new travel mechanics, new movement, new environments + a whole article with game informer going in depth with their combat, level designs and more. And your point of the characters not being defined doesn’t make sense since Odin and the person on Kratos’ back were the only ones that were kept ambiguous in this trailer for the plot of the game. You would know that if you actually paid even the slightest of attention to the first game. Cope some more 🤭

This was labeled as a story trailer; it was simply dropped to give everyone tidbits of information regarding where the devs are going with the story itself. Sony also has events called a "Showcase" where they will go in depth / show more about the gameplay itself. If THAT trailer / event relies on scripted movie clips then yes, you would have a reason for concern and I would 100% agree with you. I don't know if the event has been planned / dated yet. The last Sony AAA title (I believe) was Horizon FW and I don't remember how close to launch they held the showcase event. But there is plenty of time between now and launch for them to hold it. My best guess would be the halfway point as they will want to get everyone talking again right before release. Don't think for a second that Cory and the SM team are going to under deliver and not top 2018 GOW 100x over. I would argue that the story is my bigger concern vs the gameplay. (only because they have so much to cover in this game) The only real limiting factor for gameplay will likely be the fact they had to make it backwards compatible with PS4.

I know this has nothing to do with the video but I think the reason odin locked away týr is because he knew of the power of the Greek God of war and got scared that týr would try doing the same thing even though týr was loved by all and Kratos was well the opposite he was feared but if my small stupid but yet possible theory is correct odin should be very scared of Kratos and Týr teaming up
