10:50 I appreciate you mentioning to bring a positive attitude. My high school band director always told us to “pack your patience” when we went on marching band trips to Disney. I’m 32 y/o and still remind myself of that each time I travel.
Been watching many videos on how to pack and prepare for our first Alaska cruise. Hands down, this is the best. Absolutely loved the last pice of advice…a positive ATTITUDE! Thank you!!
I’m going on my first Alaska cruise in September and I really appreciated your tips. I’ve already made up my mind that I’m going to have a great time regardless of the weather and I’m making it a priority to show appreciation to the cruise crew for all they do!
My husband and I went in September previously. On deck was misty and cool, but majority of time inside the ship is comfortable. Two ports were very warm 70-80° days. Ketchikan is a natural rain forest and you will be lucky if you get a dry day. A lined rain jacket/coat, jeans, short sleeve and long sleeve shirts are more than enough. An umbrella in Ketchikan is necessary. You will see so much wildlife that binoculars are great. Also, the shops in Port will have a ton of clearances in September and you can buy some great stuff cheap so pack less so you can bring more home.
@@UNswtTreats sorry, just now seeing your question. No, I’ll be on a Carnival cruise but I have a work colleague who’s also cruising in September and I do believe she’s going Norwegian. It would be funny if you two are on the same cruise!
we are going on our alaskan cruise in september.loved your video. you were the first video that mentioned ducks.we love hiding ducks.we bought ducks that had knitted hats on amazon. so excited.
Love the Eurodam! Was on her for 11 days in the Caribbean/Panama Canal last March! Such great staff! I'll be on the Noordam in late July, early August to Alaska. Vancouver-Whittier, then Whittier-Vancouver for 14 days!
Loving these cruise videos! Are you going to do a food video as well? I would love to go on a cruise to Alaska! my grandparents used to go before they passed away and that’s so amazing that you got to go with your grandma that’s super special I wish I would’ve been able to do that with my grandma -I think I might plan it with my mom and I think that would just be an awesome time :), so thanks for sharing :-)
I should have a food video coming out within the next few days. That's really cool that your grandparents went! I would def say go with your mom and enjoy it :)
Just booked our first Alaskan cruise for Sept 2023 on the Discovery Princess. I’m from Texas so it’ll definitely be different than what I’m used to. Thanks for the video - it was very helpful! I was wondering if I could just wear leggings throughout the day. One thing you didn’t cover - how dressy are the evenings (dinners and shows)? PS - I found a duck on my last cruise and it made my day!
I wore leggings, jeans, and sweatpants. There are usually 2 dressy nights. You can wear a nice dress and be good to go. I personally didn’t do the formal dinners because I was traveling with my grandma and neither of us wanted to dress up, but it can be fun to look nice and take pictures. I’d pack mostly for comfort and maybe 2-3 dressy options if you think you might want to do formal night. It’s your cruise ultimately so wear what you want!
Going on the same exact cruise very soon! And we are from Alabama! So what about formal wear for the “gala” nights? Do they have that in this itinerary?
I just was in Alaska for the last 2 weeks, Mosquitos get worse and worse as the year goes on, we were bombarded with Mosquitos at the end of June, early July for really any instance of going on land for excursions or tours (even in some of the buses and trains)
Thanks! We are going mid-Sept on the Celebrity Soltice. I ordered some hiking boots but not sure if necessary-not going hiking but to help with walking on snow or ice. What do you think-are boots worth it?
They’ll help you with traction at least! I just wore my tennis shoes. I brought boots too, but never ended up wearing them. We did stop off by a glacier on one of our bus tours but most of the route was gravel rocks, easy to walk on. I’d say they’re nice to have.
Yesterday, I booked my first Alaska cruise. A 9 day, in early September 2023. Today, I got an email that there was an itinerary change. My cruise is losing Sitka and adding another sea day. Instead of one sea day, there is now two, and if you add in a day of watching a Glacier melt, that makes three. On top of that, before we leave Juneau to take the next day as a sea day, we leave at 2:45. That'll be almost 48 hours, at sea, before we arrive at the final port. I assume that since we are skipping a port, our port fees will be reduced.
@@HellaBella I love sea days. A few years ago, I took a cruise from San Diego to Hawaii, and back. I loved just sitting around and not being rushed to do something.
I brought way too much. I would recommend bringing just 1 of certain things like 1 pair of jeans, 1 coat, 1 light jacket, 1 pair of walking shoes. On the ship I dressed very casual in leggings and a long sleeve shirt and tennis shoes. I didn’t wear half of what I brought.
very good and needed advise but could I just add a bit of advise to you for your future videos, please look into the camera and not continually to the side, perhaps square yourself up more, we found this most annoying.

The best was “Bring a good attitude”❣️ Wish everyone thought that way!!
Awesome video! Thanks for mentioning bringing a good attitude! It’s much better for everyone to put on a smile and think positive 😊

Magnetic hooks great idea. You can never get enough hangers on a trip. Thanks!
Good common sense tips well done.

That’s good information to know! They are awful here in Alabama, so wouldn’t want them biting me my whole vacation. Bug spray necessary ✅

Yikes I would be very disappointed to learn that. I personally found sea days to be pretty boring after too many of them in a row.

How many outfits did you bring on your 7 day cruise? (e.g. number of shirts, pants, socks, shoes, jackets, etc.)

Do they have formal evenings on Holland America?
Yes they do. I didn’t dress up for it though. Just went casual and ate in the Lido deck.
