Tried the formation with out this set up over the weekend and liked it. Added changes and I feel alright defending but have more options now when attacking. Thanks mate, the second half tweaks are also very good.
With the system being heavy on the pressing it can make you feel a little less secure defensively than normal but I find once you get used to it, it becomes pretty easy to handle. Good to know it helped with creating some extra attacking opportunities for you and that the second half tweaks work well.
Tried the 352 but haven’t really experimented with the 5212, I’d assume they are very similar but if you have experience with both, what are the small differences?
Theo beat me to it and answered it pretty well I'll be honest. I find the wingbacks are much better in general over the LM & RM both defensively as you'd imagine but also for the AI just making better attacking runs and often people use a 4 atb system won't track the wingbacks that well.

Yeah most pros seem to be defaulting to the 352 and it's great but I always find myself going back to the 5212. The wingback involvement is amazing and they're one of the most important elements of the system I'll be honest.

The midfielders sit a lot higher up than the 352 CDMs, and the wing backs move better than the wide mids in the 352.

difference bw balance or direct passing on 51212 ?
Like I say mate, best to start with balanced and then change into either forward runs or direct passing after analyzing the first half.
