Can anyone explain the joke "That explains why the 400 is 2/3 zero? I know who the 400 wear (are), but not the rest.

Of the digits in "400", 2/3 of them are zeros. Also, I think he meant to imply that 2/3 of "The 400" were zeros, as in worthless people. I love that most of his best and cleverest lines are written as throwaways.

4-0-0 contains 3 numbers of which 2 of the 3 are zeroes

The phrase, "The Four Hundred" was coined in the late 1800s to describe the most elite members of high society living in New York City. Originally it referred to the 400 select guests who would be invited to parties in the ballroom of Mrs. William Backhouse Astor, Jr.'s Manhattan mansion. Overtime, it came to describe the wealthiest and most socially connected families in any large community. When Fibber makes comment about there being a lot of zeros in The Four Hundred he is mocking the elite by saying most of them are worthless.

    What happened to molly?

The "official' studio reason for Molly's departure was 'exhaustion'. However, Marian Jordan had a lifelong battle with alcoholism. She spent some of the time off from the show in the late 30s drying out.

A lot of people say that Marian Jordan was being treated for alcoholism, but I've never found a reliable source for that claim. Marian was in ill health for many years before her death, and after she came back from her absence in 1938 she usually performed sitting down at a table while everyone else performed standing up, an indication of weakened health. In fact, the Jordan's moved the show from Chicago to Hollywood on the advice of doctors who said the warm climate would be better for her health. Ultimately, the treatment for alcohol may or may not be true. Personally, I find it hard to believe that Don Quinn, the show's writer, would create an alcoholic character for the show, Uncle Dennis, if his dear friend and long time collaborator, suffered from alcoholism.
