I didn't even know the Viola existed as an instrument until I went to learn violin. My teacher got me to hold a violin and said it looked silly because I'm tall and have long arms. She suggested I try viola and while I'm still very much a beginner, I just like the sound of the viola more.
I agree, I don't play either violin or viola (I do play a few other instruments), but in my opinion viola sounds a bit better generally. Warmer, fuller, deeper. Not as bright. However, I've also noticed violins produce more variety in sound - on just on the same instrument - than the more consistent warmness of the viola. Perhaps that is why the violin is more used? It's versatility? anyway, both cool instruments.

Idk why this is so nostalgic and comforting almost like childhood Ik it’s weird but idk how to explain it edit: I was looking through some of my really old toys from when I was a baby/kid and I found one of the toys that was battery operated and when I put on the batteries and press the toys stomach it started playing this song that’s why this felt nostalgic

The viola is underrated. It has a remarkable pitch and it stands out the most for string instruments. It’s pitch is higher than the cello, by one octave exactly, so it doesn’t create a mournful sound. Violins are fine, but sometimes the notes can get too high. And it creates a squeaky effect. I love the viola, even though I play the cello. I which I can switch to viola. ❤
As much as the viola is made fun of and how much people joke about violists, this is truly just a masterpiece and just shows that with a little more heart and practice, it’s not bad at all

I once played when I was six or seven years old but I didn’t play the violin anymore until when I was ten.Every time I listen to the music, I feel happy.The song reminds me of my teacher at kindergarten because they once played the song and I really like it. I am now interested in the violin again and I am not going to give up so easily like last time. 🙂
I used to play Violin and then decided after being diagnosed with an ear condition to switch to viola due to the slightly lower pitch, It was my life and soul but sadly like a lot of people I began to dread my lessons and hate practising and eventually I stopped playing to try other things. Although I have found other loves, giving up viola is one of my biggest regrets
