  • The Game of the Goose first gained popularity in Italy near the end of the 15th century and later continued its popularity in various European countries during the 16th century thanks to the Medici family. This fun board game can be played as either a gambling or a non-gambling game.
If you enjoy playing Chutes and Ladders or Candy Land, then you will most likely enjoy playing this board game!
Over the centuries, this game has appeared with variations of rules and illustrative designs. Some historical game board illustrations reflected the political or social situations of the time.

    Good video!
When I was a small boy, this game was in our house. For some reason I think it came in a Compendium Box of games Snakes & Ladders and Ludo amongst others were included, but this was my favourite.
The rules of the Game of Goose didn't have the gambling element included, probably because it was for children, and as far as I remember, you stopped if you jumped from the first bridge to the second, and your turn ended.
I really enjoyed your video, it brought back a lot of memories of me and my sister battling it out over this board.

if we only have two players, first player landed on the prison and the second player drop on the well, what will we do?

Then, I guess you both will be waiting a long time for someone to set you free. 😉 Why not consider it a loss for both of you and start the game again?

I have a question.if the two players stopped on the same case the second player go backwards or a step forward ?

If the second player lands on the spot where the first player is, then the second player gets to stay put while the first player goes to the spot where the second player originated. (Basically they swap places.) If you're gambling with this game, then both players pay a stake to the pool.

Have you played any 16th century card games?

Years ago, I was taught to play Primero. However, I prefer board games.
When it comes to card games, my favorites are Solitaire (18th century) , Kings on the Corner (1910's), and Egyptian Rat Screw (which is similar to the 19th-century English card game beggar-my-neighbour).

Primero would be a good one to show.
I have played the others, and rat screw is great fun especially with teenagers

Below are written rules for this game from different websites regarding the bridge spaces (6 and 12). Hope this helps!
"Bridge [6,12] “From bridge to bridge, I roll as I reach”. Advance or go back to the other bridge and reroll." www.playspace.com/en-gb/page/the-goose-rules
      "6 - The Bridge - Go to space 12" www.mastersofgames.com/rules/goose-game-rules.htm
"Square 6, the bridge: a player landing here pays an extra stake into the pot as toll, but proceeds straight to square 12." www.cyningstan.com/game/1175/the-game-of-the-goose
