Every flat roof I look at for a customer they say what do you think on the covering to use, I say use a premium felt 3 layer system, I rip of felt that’s lasted 30 years or more and only just started leaking but boards reusable still. Epdm has been the worst I seen for causing damp within a year on some.
A glass fibre flat roof, if laminated correctly with correct thickness of fibreglass mat and resin, should last a good 25 years or longer, in my humble opinion
@@roofingshiteroofing1189 …………… explain what you mean ‘warm roof’ ‘cold roof’. Do you mean a warm roof has insulation underneath and a cold roof doesn’t ?
It's leaking, and had condensation problems. the fibreglass never adhered to the a200 trims at the bottom of the roof. So that was soaking. Also you should never lay timber on top of insulation without ventilation
@@roofingshiteroofing1189 interesting . you seem to have separated the GRP from the OSB easliy .just goes to show how little adhesion polyester resin has .
I've been telling my customers this for years !!!

I agree, my only problem with felt is the insurance. I think most people still doing felt are not insured.
Why has it failed?
It's leaking, I can't tell you why. But it's not the first one I've striped. They just leak
Hi, follow your videos, where are you based in Scotland ? and are you contactable

i think you are right, but only on a cold roof. It dose not work on a warm roof.

Yes you can't install a timber deck on top of insulation without a 50mm air flow under the deck. This turns it back to a clod roof.
I'm concerned you don't have this information.
It’s not been installed correctly
Nooice!
is it leaking or is there condensation ?

Grp is one of the easiest to strip
@@roofingshiteroofing1189 indeed. though I do wonder how often is GRP applied to damp timber - which may have caused the problem.
No leaks most be doing its job
What do you call a fly with no wings?
@@roofingshiteroofing1189 I'd call it a fly with no wings
Probably the osb was wet/damp when it was laminated or there's no vapour barrier.
has anybody here ever thought a flat roof is a good idea?
They can work very well if done properly. It's mainly an understanding of how they work. Look up London flat roofing. Steve goes into it so much more
Nothing wrong with a flat roof, if done correctly and with correct understanding of material application etc etc
